That was a great interview. Cindy and Ray ask good questions and they actually listen. Elliott has a busy 2008 coming up.

chloewannabee - December 10, 2007 09:27 PM (GMT)

thanks again Georgiafan! I hate to miss anything.

lindagt - December 10, 2007 10:05 PM (GMT)
Wow! That was one of the best interviews I've ever heard Elliott give! Sounds like he's going to be spending a lot of time out of the country next year and doing some really great things!

Thanks for capturing the interview!

On a new AI appearance -- No kidding, when you look at those impressive Radio and Records numbers that Ken Barnes reported today plus making the Vibe magazine best songs of the year list. He's getting mentions far beyond any other idols but Daughtry and Carrie. AI's gotta claim him as an honored alum or look really really dumb. Yay!

JackieB - December 10, 2007 10:15 PM (GMT)
LOVE this interview! Thanks so much itslate for making it available. Love it!

wowhesgood - December 10, 2007 10:16 PM (GMT)
Itslate, again, you are our hero.

Once again, he gives a great, from the heart and honest interview. He has to gain fans everytime he is interviewed. Looking forward to all 2008 brings!

Judy - December 10, 2007 10:22 PM (GMT)
Itslate..........Thank You So Much! Great interview and reminds us again how warm and outgoing Elliott is in interviews. Sound like he has much to look forward to next year.

I tried last time you asked for a recap. You weren't satisfied with my answer.

Talks about his plans for the year, France, Germany, and maybe Angola during Idol gives back. Talks about working overnights as a DJ and wanting to work with John Mayer, D' Angelo, and Rob Thomas, talks about Stevie and the time they spent during idol in great length, even started singing. He is honest and real throughout, as always, and still can't figure out why people are "trippin' out" over him. He's so cute. Talks about his family, even his Dad a little more than usual. What he did on his Saturday off (watched the fight) hung out with his "homies" and cousins and chilled. (squeeze him all up, I swear I could)

What else, anyone?

Linda4Elliott - December 10, 2007 10:36 PM (GMT)
Moved to tears meeting Stevie Wonder

Dreamed of meeting Stevie and doing everything he is doing now

They got to spend all day w/Stevie

Stevie helped give him the confidence.

Nervous at first....lol....it was almost like Steve levitated in the room...hahaha

Stevie taught him to evoke emotion

Stevie made everyone comfortable...

Would like to work w/John Mayer, D'Angelo....

more to come.........

movin2thabeet - December 10, 2007 10:39 PM (GMT)
Also mentioned Broadway again and being contacted about 'Rent'. Doesn't know if the timing will allow but would like to pursue at some point.

Interesting that he didn't mention his new radio single, OW.

Linda4Elliott - December 10, 2007 10:39 PM (GMT)
would like to work w/Rob Thomas also

talking about Iraqi ancestory..Elliott clarifies Dad was born in Bagdhad, but Israeli.

He's been to Israel, would love to go back and bring his music

Music first on foremost...before movies, etc...

May go to Angola in Feb....for diabetes...AI will be doing Idol gives back there at the same time...may hook up

Next Year very promising, may go to France. Is going to Germany

Linda4Elliott - December 10, 2007 10:42 PM (GMT)
Broadway calling.....Rent..

still weird when people trip out over him...LOL
Loves giving back to the fans :) Still pinches self

Great interview...The End

lindagt - December 10, 2007 10:45 PM (GMT)
He did an amazing job on this interview - no hesitancy in putting the words together, he sounded confident and excited. No "dead air" while he answered - I think he does that more when he is more nervous, but this time he seemed very comfortable.

Linda4Elliott - December 10, 2007 10:49 PM (GMT)
THANK YOU once again, Itslate :)

Is anyone from here going to the Jingle Jam tonight?

georgiafan1 - December 10, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)
Elliott was doing sound check a few minutes ago and the DJs were raving about his voice and the uptempo songs he was singing. Cindy said she was excited to hear Elliott perform tonight. :elliottcap:

(I think he was singing "Free" in the background when they were talking.)

Free is one of my favorites and is absolutely AMAZING live!!!

jluv'selliottmusic - December 10, 2007 11:02 PM (GMT)
thanks for all the infor on that. It would have taken my over an hour to upload.
It's great all the things he will be doing. I'm glad and hope he is very happy.

I saw him Saturday night on the tv guide channel talking about his xmas cd and they showed him like getting ready in his white suit (ow). I thought I was hearing things when they said they would have him on. Also had Mandisa talking about a few things. She looked really good. Happy for her too.

Wouldn't it be cool if Elliott helped D'Angelo to make a "comeback" from his bad times? But are their voices too similar? Trying to imagine...

Gr8MusicIsMedicine - December 10, 2007 11:34 PM (GMT)
Nah, their voices aren't too similar... D'angelo has this dense/airy thing going on with his voice, its kinda hard to explain... lol

Heres one of the songs off his first album...

There is a good chance he'll steal the show tonight. We know how fabulous he is live!

shatner8 - December 10, 2007 11:36 PM (GMT)
I am a huge D'Angelo fan and would be thrilled to have E work with him
also love Maxwell, and would love to hear a song for them as well

the interview sounds like it went great, lots of info, a trip to Europe (hoping for lots of video and pics) and hopefully working on collecting lots and lots of great songs, and colloborators this yr.
what a fantastic yr that 2007 has been, and to a even more fabulous 2008 to come for Elliott and the E train! :hapiholidays:

lol You posted my all-time favorite D'Angelo song! "You're my ladyyyyyyyyyy" I was just 10 years old when his debut Brown Sugar came out but I remember my parents and I listening to it. There are a ton of great songs on Brown Sugar. He is from Richmond too, so here's to hoping he and Elliott could collab in the future!!

Gr8MusicIsMedicine - December 11, 2007 12:07 AM (GMT)
Your parents let you listen to it?!?! BSugar is def not a G rated album ;) ...Yeah, I was like 16 when this album came out ( I had no idea what I was boppin my head to back then lol)...but it was GOOD stuff =), I dont think I can even pick a fav off that album. I miss D'Angelo... if he and Elliott were to do something together, u best believe I'd be ALL OVER IT! lol...

sange - December 11, 2007 12:40 AM (GMT)
Thanks so much for all the info!!!!2008 is going to be even better!!!!
D'Angelo duet would be hot!!!

ohioguy45780 - December 11, 2007 12:53 AM (GMT)

LOL yep! It wasn't until I got older and really listened to the lyrics that I realized the underlying meanings in his songs! LOL Brown sugar is really his ode to mary jane and the song with the profanity in the title (lol, you know what I'm talking about-it was used in the movie The Best Man!) is about him catching his wife cheating on him! LOL

My parents weren't too strict with the music I listened to while growing up. When I was just 13, I developed a fondness for the Motown sound (which was weird to my parents at the time because that's the music they grew up on!)

I Love Elliott - December 11, 2007 01:54 AM (GMT)
itslate.........Thank You........

CathyEM - December 11, 2007 02:30 AM (GMT)
What a GREAT interview!! Re D'Angelo, I could tell he was struggling for words and didn't really want to say he'd like to help him revive his career. But there was really no other way to say it.

I always appreciate the way in which Elliott is honest in his responses, yet tries to be kind at the same time.

mel0207 - December 11, 2007 03:01 AM (GMT)
So glad you recorded it itslate, I would have missed it without you...and it was a great interview, not one to miss!

Elliott sounds refreshed and ready for the new year and all the exciting things in store. I'm so happy for him and proud to be his fan. It would be soooo cool to be there tonight!

Elliott is a great actor, and puts so much feeling into singing that I think he would be wonderful on broadway/in musicals. My personal favorite musical is "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"....I can see Elliott as Joseph, he would be awesome! :awe:

Efan2 - December 11, 2007 03:34 AM (GMT)
Wow, haven't been on much today. That was a fabulous interview! Elliott sounded so excited. The words just tumbled out. Sounds like a great year coming up for him. Thanks so much itslate for capturing that for us.
