I'm a Philnatic as well (not a Phan, that's a fan of Phil Joel, although I'm also one of the biggest Phans you will ever find), so I'm anxious to hear what he puts out! I just hope he gets control over it and they let him write his own songs, because he's a great songwriter.

Found this on AI Website...
Following his 55-city American Idols Live! Tour, Phil Stacey moved to Nashville with wife Kendra and their two children to pursue a career in country music. He has since gone into the studio with producer Wayne Kirkpatrick to record for his debut album.

Good for Phil! DH and I liked him this past season. I hope he is successful in Nashville. Not being a country music fan; I'm a little disappointed that he chose this genre'. But Phil has a really good voice so it should work for him.

That's great! Good for Phil!

Country isn't my favorite either, so I was a bit disappointed too. But I'm going to buy his album, I really want to hear his voice. He was my favorite last season....imo he deserved to go higher than he did. I know he made an album before idol, and I would love to have that one too. Hopefully it will be available in the future sometime.

 Glad to hear Phil is doing a new album. I am not big into country but do love the sound of his voice so will definitely give the cd a listen. If he does music like his "Blaze of Glory" appearance I know I would love this cd.

:xmascheers:

Country is a tricky genre to pull off. It only really works when it doesn't take itself too seriously, and in my opinion, only works in its truest form. Oh man, this pop-disguised-as-country that seems to rule lately is bad stuff...nothing worse than cheeseball ballads and a fake twang :eww:.

But rockish country does work. Just look at the Eagles for proof of that. Or one of my favorite bands, the Paul Colman Trio (PC3), which has a style that's kind of a mix of rock, folk, and country click here to see what I mean
So in conclusion, Phil, if there is a trio you should follow, it's PC3. Please, please, PLEASE not Rascal Flatts. Ugh.

I have that cd mel, and it's the sound I want him to stick with. It's definately more folkish than country and most of the songs are just him playing the guitar or the piano while he sings, but I think it suits him best. If you want me to email you some of the songs I will, since it's not really available anywhere right now.

That's so nice of you to offer...I'd love to hear some songs of his! It's a testament to his talent that he can sound good only accompanied by a piano or guitar. I've heard one song of his, something patriotic...someone had posted a link on this website I believe. It was very nice, I was impressed. I'm going to pm you.

Phil's first single is called "If You Didn't Love Me" and it will be released to radio soon. Gary LeVox (lead singer of Rascal Flatts) co-wrote the song. I am so excited and can't wait to hear it.

Here's an article about him, and he mentions the other AI6 contestants at the end. It's sweet how close they are.

More info about his single:

QUOTE
Friday, January 4, 2008 – American Idol season 6 finalist Phil Stacey will release his debut single, "If You Didn't Love Me" to country radio on Monday, Jan. 7. The track, produced by Wayne Kirkpatrick (Little Big Town) and written by Wendell Mobley, Jason Sellers and Rascal Flatts's Gary LeVox, will be the lead single from Stacey's upcoming debut CD, scheduled for release in April.

"I'm so excited to have found this song and that it'll be my very first single," said Stacey. "The lyrics of the song mean a lot to me because it's a great love song that everyone can relate to and I feel like it tells the story of my marriage. I've been blessed with an amazingly supportive wife (Kendra) and with all the things we've been through together - whether it was in college, the military or even on American Idol - having her there made everything so much easier and put joy into everything we went through. I don't know where I'd be today without her."

Stacey grew up singing in his father's church in Fairfield, Ohio and studied vocal performance at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. In 2003, Stacey enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a Musician Third Class at Navy Band Southeast in Jacksonville, Fla.

On American Idol, Stacey sang country hits "Where The Blacktop Ends," "The Change" and "I Need You."

Following his time on American Idol, Stacey toured with his fellow contestants over the summer on a 55 city tour before moving to Nashville with his wife and their two daughters to pursue his country music career.

:hooray: For Phil, I am looking forward to hearing his first single even though I am not a big country fan. However, Phil has such a wonderful voice I am sure it will be a hit. Best wishes to a truly nice guy!

ElliottisTrueBlue - January 7, 2008 03:13 AM (GMT)
I'm not a country fan either, but there are exceptions if they are good...I just hope it's not an album full of Rascal Flatts rejects that Phil didn't even write.

In other words...

I hope he doesn't get Biced. Come on, not him. He and Melinda are the only ones I care about from S6!
