WOW, that is so cool! He's at #1! And the other artists on the list, who ranked lower than him, are huge! Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, Bruce Springsteen, Fergie, Bon Jovi... that's quite a list, and this guy put ELLIOTT on top of it. Thanks for posting this. :elliottelliott:

Oh My God!! Honestly, I thought I would go there and the writer would have Elliott somewhere in the middle, not #1. Why? I, personally, was kind of in the mindset that maybe other people just don't "get" Elliott (like this Fangirlly does). What a nice surprise to read this writers critigue. Not just because he sees Elliott the same way that I do, but as I read what he wrote, I could tell he had put a great deal f thought into it. It is obvious that the writer is very smart!! :elliottcap:

Time to put together my Top 10 favorite CDs for 2007.
My list for 2007 isn't based on sales figures, hype or what everybody else is saying, but on what I found myself listening to the most in 2007.
I'd like to think it's pretty reflective of the last 12 months, but as in years past, there is a fine line between what made the cut and what didn't.
I do know that the older I get the more difficult it is to compile such a list. I do take this opportunity seriously and put much thought into my choices.
Several worthy artists did not make my Top 10, mainly because the field this time around contained so many worthy candidates.
Those missing the cut include albums by Timbaland, Rihanna, Maroon 5, Tim McGraw, Daughtry, Mat Kearney, LeAnn Rimes, Annie Lennox, Feist, Josh Groban and the soundtrack to "Dreamgirls."
Here is The Farr Side's Top CDs of 2007.

"Elliott Yamin"
Elliott Yamin
Elliott Yamin became like the little engine that could with the release of his self-titled debut album in March. His top-three finish on Season 5 of "American Idol" didn't turn him into an overnight sensation or instantly get him a record deal, but it did spark a fire within him to pursue his dreams. I'm glad he did because his talent is so beyond his years. Yamin signed with an independent label for the release of his debut album. I was both excited and eager to hear what I believed he could already do, especially after seeing him nail just about every song he performed on Idol and on the "American Idol's Live" tour.
"Elliott Yamin" is old-school R&B at it's finest, good enough to stand up against the ranks of Donny Hathaway, Brook Benton and Otis Redding records. The album's second single, "Wait For You," became a major smash on both the radio and video airwaves, making Yamin a bonafide success story. Other notable tracks on the album include "One Word," "You Are The One," "Train Wreck," "Alright," and "Take My Breath Away."
Yamin proved that you can make it even without the backing of a major record label, something not easily done today. "Elliott Yamin" is the biggest-selling independent album release of 2007 which can only mean - if you're going to sing it, then sing it like Yamin it!
Best Track: "Take My Breath Away."

What a great review!!!!!!!!!. I remember this guy , he wrote a great article about Elliott back in September.
Unless you've been in a coma for the last six months and have not heard this record, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy. You will not be disappointed. There's not a bad song on it.
"Elliott Yamin" has been in my CD player all summer. It gets better the more I hear it and I'm not the only person who says that. Being the music junkie that I am, people often tell me what they're listening to and Yamin comes up in conversation a lot.
It's been cool turning on the radio and hearing his second hit single "Wait For You." It's nice to hear so many different radio formats take to the song, no easy chore for a song from an independent label.
"Wait For You" also found itself on the latest very popular "Now 25: Now That's What I Call Music" collection, which also includes top hits from other artists like Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce, Fergie, Pink and Fall Out Boy. Way to go Elliott! That's some pretty impressive company if you ask me. I'm also happy to know that the video for the song is spending it's 8th big week on top of the VH1 Top 20 video countdown."
That is a portion of what he wrote

I don't normally buy too many actual CDs in a year; I tend to download what I want from iTunes. But out of this person's top 10, I physically own 5 and have downloaded a track here and there from a couple of others. I think it's quite an accurate list. Impressive for Elliott to be at the top of that group, for sure!

This helps me look forward to the New Year - it will be a great Elliott year, I know. If it's great for Elliott, it's great for me! Super review.

What an awesome CD review, straight from the heart, based on what artist the writer enjoyed the most this year. He listened to Elliott's CD more than any other... what a great tribute to Elliott's talent and how listenable his CD is. His voice keeps drawing you back again and again. Love the pic they used, Elliott looks very handsome :awe: His eyes look green there, must be what he's wearing.
