Description: Just curious

At the bottom of the page it says there are 4,923 members yet Ebomb who just joined on December 22, 2007 has member #8,040. Am I being dense again? lol

I suppose some people drop out.

Thanks for the input but I think people just leave, I don't think they unregister. Don't mind me y'all, my husband says I'm like a 5 year old with all the questions... Need to know how things work, you know. LOL But seriously I would like to hear from one of the mods as to why we have 4,923 registered members and ebomb's number is 8,040. Wouldn't that be something if we had that many members? wow!

that does seem like huge number to have de-registered. I wonder if it may have something to do with people who log in as "guest". that would make sense for the large difference

Guests do not have to log in so they wouldn't be counted in that number.

I am not 100% sure about this but I think the reason the difference is so large is because of all the spam bot accounts we have had to suspend.

The spam bots got on before we turned on this feature:

This section allows you to allow or deny registrations where you have requested that an administrator previews new accounts before allowing full membership. It will also allow you to complete or deny new email address changes.

In other words, all new registrants are screened and IP addresses checked for validity.
