'American Idol' star headlines music fest
"American Idol" contestant Elliott Yamin wowed a crowd of more than 2,000 when he headlined Haverhill Rocks! Battle of the Bands, held Aug. 18 on the grounds of Winnekenni Castle. That same day across town at the Haverhill Stadium, it was heavy metal that rocked the crowd when a local promoter held Loudfest, a heavy metal festival.
The biggest draw that day seemed to be Yamin, a favorite on the popular American Idol show who many felt should have won instead of coming in at third place.
The story about how Yamin ended up in Haverhill actually started with a scam. An agent who claimed to have connections to the singer tricked local event organizers into thinking they could hire him for the show. But it turned out they wouldn't have been able to afford the price of bringing him to Haverhill.
When Yamin found out what happened, he agreed to cut his regular fee so the show could go on. Yamin played for at least 45 minutes at the castle and stayed to sign autographs and take pictures. |

This is one of my favorite Elliott stories of the year. I hope he never loses this charitable side as a performer.
Isn't it weird, though, that we had this potential scam along with that other one with the Jewler's ticket gouging (in Oregon, right?) I wonder how often these sorts of things happen.

I remember hearing this story and thinking Elliott is the sweetest person.
He doesn't fake his good soul like some stars, Elliott is all REAL !!
A lot of big stars could learn from watching Elliott.

I live right by Haverhill and had a wedding that day and had to miss it. For $50 you could meet Elliott, too. I was SO insanely depressed!!!
