Title: When Does Idol 7 Start?

AvivaDove - December 31, 2007 07:17 PM (GMT)
When does it start? I can hardly wait. This year, they auditioned in my hometown-Philadelphia.

Anybody else excited about seeing your hometown featured?

Last year, they made Seattle look like a stupid, talentless town. In the end the top two auditioned there.

I hope Elliott makes a guest appearance again.

When Idol is on, homework is always done early without prompting.

I hope it doesn't conflict with the new dance show, Dance War on ABC.

Any thoughts before the new season starts?

January 15th;)

ElliottCat101 - December 31, 2007 08:17 PM (GMT)
I am excited to see my hometown featured as well! I read online that Nigel said San Diego (my hometown) brought some really great talent -- hope it's true!

Linda4Elliott - December 31, 2007 09:49 PM (GMT)
I always watch AI. I will never again have the same enthusiasm for the show, since I've already found my idol :awe: However, I will still watch for fun. I didn't love last season, although I really did like Melinda Doolittle. But it was still a lack luster year. I'm hoping for a more interesting season in 2008.

pdlvne - January 1, 2008 01:37 AM (GMT)
I totally agree with you Linda.

idoletc - January 1, 2008 01:08 PM (GMT)
I totally agree, as well. This year I hope that they let us (the viewers) get to know the contestents a little more this year. I felt like I couldn't really connect with them last year.

Harley, a little off topic, but I just read your siggy. That is really cool!! Good luck. :rocker:

Elliottfan27 - January 1, 2008 02:41 PM (GMT)
I'm glad they changed it. It's alot cleaner and easier to navigate.

What about the "American Idol challenge", anyone on here doing it?

Here's a look at the AI schedule. 10 hours of audition footage, 12 if you count Hollywood week. Yay. I am looking forward to the competition this year though. I think it will be much better than season 6. They've moved IGB to top 8 week instead of top 6 and they will still eliminate someone that week, just on a different night.

Eww I hate all the time they give to auditions. Most of it is the bad. If it was more of the good I would really enjoy it, but I'm not found of watching people make fools of themselves. It's kinda sad. Can't wait until top 24. That's my favorite part of the competition! Elliott's Moody's Mood and If You Really Love Me, Madisa's I'm Every Woman, Ace's Butterfiles, Chris R's Geek In The Pink, Nadia Turner's Power of Love, Kelly Clarkson's Respect, Katharine McPhee's Since I Feel For You, Chris Daughtry's Hemorrhage, LaToya London's All By Myself ... geeze sorry for taking a trip down memory lane but those are some great performances!!!

I don't think 4 weeks of bad auditions sounds like fun... I'd rather they did like 3 weeks (or even 2), and give Hollywood week an extra week. Hollywood week is one of my most favorite parts of the show!

On the website I clicked on it and it's like where you can sing along like an American Idol karoke contest I think. It sounds pretty fun.

I just went and looked, and it looks like it's a video game (?). LOL I actually got an American Idol karaoke video game for Christmas. It's pretty fun :P

:iwish: While I am looking forward to the new season of American Idol I wish they would cut down that audition part. I would rather see more of Hollywood week. I do love it when they get to the Top 24 cause it is always interesting to watch. I do re-caps on 4 websites of the show but have not decided if I will do re-caps of the actual auditions yet.

Anyway, hopefully this season will be a good one!

I'm glad there are others around here that aren't too fond of the auditions. The audition shows really turned me off AI and were a primary factor that I wasn't much of a fan for years. Those shows are sooo mean-spirited. I like AI much better from Hollywood on. Constructive criticism is good -- setting people up to have their dreams (even if they are delusional) publicly crushed and ridiculed is horrible.

mel0207 - January 2, 2008 04:13 PM (GMT)
A new season of ai is almost here everybody! I love to hear people sing live, and can't wait! I really hope it is a great season.

I agree with other posters about the auditions. I could do without the many hours of them, especially since the majority are presented in a negative and demeaning light. So not cool. Those shows do tend to be very mean spirited.

et4elliott - January 2, 2008 05:04 PM (GMT)
Looking forward to another season although not too exicted about it. I think last year ruined it for me. IMO I thought it was pretty bad. I'll just watch it for something to do.

idoletc - January 2, 2008 05:23 PM (GMT)
Some people find it funny to listen to the "horrible" singers that try out in front of Simon, Paula, and Randy. I do not. I just want to hurry up and get to the potential idols. I know, I know, everyone to their own taste in what is funny, but I think it dumbs down the authenticity of the show.JMO.

hip-yamized - January 4, 2008 09:52 PM (GMT)
I heard Randy and Simon say that this season is the best top 12 EVER (talent-wise). Hope that is true. No one will ever replace my Idol Elliott though.

ElliottisTrueBlue - January 4, 2008 10:11 PM (GMT)
^^Sure it is...LOL

I may watch but not seriously. I'm probably not even gonna watch until Hollywood. If somebody catches my attention this year they are gonna have to be unique because frankly, I'm sick of the wannabes.

MY IDOL ELLIOTT - January 5, 2008 09:07 AM (GMT)
HI Y'all,The 2 night season premiere of American Idol Season 7 premieres Jan.15 & 16,but the greatest season in American Idol History will always be American Idol Season 5 with Taylor,Kat,Elliott,Chris,Ace,Bucky,Kellie,Paris,Lisa and Mandisa!I think with the TV ratings being very low on last season of American Idol, if the TV ratings are low again then I think they may take off American Idol!I understand the shows contracts are good untill 2010!I do think AI is a great show because it shows alot of great new singing talent out there.I do think for alot of them stars are born like Elliott Yamin,Chris Daughtry,Carrie Underwood,Kelly Clarkson and other great American Idols! So for that reason I love American Idol and hope American Idol stays around for as long as the fire is hot! :1word: :elliottelliott: :elliottcap: :etrain: 4 LIFE!!!

We watch AI as a family but the ausitions are totally off limits. It sets a terrible exapmple for my girls. We dont start watching until Hollywood week. From what I hear, this past season seemed unusually brutal.

I never watch until top 24 is selected. I really hate, hate, hate watching people make fools of themselves and have the judges get their jollies by making snide and hurtful remarks. This is not entertainment to me - although I realize it is the favorite part of Idol for a lot of America.

I watch all of it, you never know which guy you might see at any and all tryouts. There's this guy who calls himself "Sex", that I've seen tryout now for AI, SYTYCD, and just this week for Bravo's new Supermodel show. There was one other that tried out for both AI and SYTYCD but can't remember the name. It's kinda fun to see how many show up in more than one show in the tryouts. :rotfl:

I watch it all, too. I don't enjoy most of the auditions, but I have always tried to pick out those that I think will make it to the top 12.

(and I saw SEX trying out for the model show this week. Trying to get his 15 min. of fame.)

I am really turned off by the show but I simply watch it for entertainment. But I'm happy nonetheless because I already have enough people worth idolizing from the show. Elliott tied with someone else for the top spot in my books!!! :)
