Title: Xmas Album #12 On Bb Holiday Chart
jamie50 - January 4, 2008 10:59 PM (GMT)
E's Xmas album is #12 on the holiday chart that BB put out this week:
I'm listing the albums from 12-25 so you can see you what he outsold. My favorite is that he sold more than Chris Brown's TC soundtrack.

Great news. Thanks. I'm happy that Elliott's holiday did so well. It's really amazing since he did not get to sing any of the songs anywhere over the holiday season and it was only sold at Target.

WOW :cheerleaders:
Can you just imagine what the CD would have done :
- If It had been available EVERYWHERE(not just Target)
- If he had gotton some TV exposure (do you hear me NBC?)
"Surely" , since he now owns the rights to it, he will add to it and put it out again next year.
I think sales will go through the roof!
I am already anxious for NEXT Christmas!

To keep it factual this chart is for the week ending 12/30 so it only includes one day before Xmas and then the post Xmas sales when E's CD was on sale.
However, I'm pretty sure all Xmas CDs were on sale that week as well.
The two Targets I visited had no E CDs at all but some of KT Tunstall's and I don't see her on this list.
It's pretty cool to see him selling more CDs than Celine Dion, Chris Brown and of course, The Chipmunks and Larry the Cable Guy (whose Xmas special was hilarious, I must admit).

Why Christmas albums matter to the bottom line; continuous year-to-year sellers:

I'm surprised the chipmonks album isn't listed here... isn't the one on the list remastered? Anyway I believe Elliott's will be around for years and years too on that list. :)

Can you post a link to this chart? I would like to see the top sellers !
Thanks !

Here's the link to the Billboard Holiday Chart
http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/charts/char...+Holiday+AlbumsI finally saw the BB 200 chart and Elliott's is the only one of the 3 Sounds of the Season that made it. My guess is Taylor Swift sold out her allotment before Xmas (I never saw that chart) and KT Tunstall didn't sell enough (even on sale) to make the BB200.
Elliott's little Xmas CD outsold alot of major :elliottcap: albums last week

This was posted this morning by Nanassetta in News Alerts, but I thought I'd call it out here too - a mention of Elliott's cd in this interesting article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune this morning (you may have to register to read the entire article) ...
http://www.startribune.com/entertainment/music/13288851.htmlCD SALES PLUMMET, LEAVING RETAILERS SPINNING
Although Best Buy is devoting more store space and advertising dollars to other products, it still carries a similar number of CDs -- at least 10,000 per store, according to Billboard -- and aggressively courts superstars for Best Buy-only discs, such as live DVDs by the Rolling Stones and Mariah Carey, or a Tom Petty documentary by Peter Bogdanovich.
Target takes a similar approach with tailored inventory and exclusives, including recent Christmas discs by young stars Taylor Swift, KT Tunstall and Elliott Yamin."We recognize that overall sales will likely continue to decline as digital options become more widespread, but remain committed to the business and to doing everything we can to encourage our guests to buy physical CDs," said Target spokesperson Amy von Walter. Its stores typically carry one-tenth as many CDs as a Best Buy.

Nice article:
The actual numbers for the album from the BB200
123 YAMIN*ELLIOT SOUNDS OF THE SEASON 10,793 22 8,821 56,107
I always love getting the real number. Plus E is the only Idol related CD that actually increased in sales this week.
ohioguy45780 - January 7, 2008 02:13 PM (GMT)
that's great; I think I read somewhere that Taylor Swift sold 84K of her CD; that's only 27K more, and she's a hotter ticket AND got more promotion.

I looked at the entire BB200 and counted only six albums on the whole chart that showed increases this week (I admit I gave up at around 140 or so, too many numbers). But it was a very small % of albums for sure.
Where did you get Taylor Swift's numbers? I'd love to know exactly how many she sold.

I thought I saw it on her Wiki...but I just checked, that info has been edited out. :-(

That's great news, Just think what will happen next year, when it's no longer a Target "exclusive!
