When there is an increase in spins in any format (HAC or other) I think it's okay to post about it to alert people, so thanks OG. I don't think we will read too much into this...it is great there is an increase, so we are glad, and choose to see the good side to this, but we're not going to get overly optimistic. But we are optimistic because we love this song and want to continue to follow it and see what happens. It isn't over yet, I don't think, I mean it's still getting spins. Things could turn around to some degree...what degree that will be (or not be), I don't know, nor do any of us. But we choose to support it 100% in any case.

Edit to add this is NOT meant as an attack on anyone. We are all certainly entitled to our own opinion, and I don't begrudge anyone for speaking their mind respectfully. Bottom line: we all love Elliott, and have his best interests at heart.

In my opinion until we get word from Elliott's team to stop supporting OW, I'm in.

I believe that's the key Mel. We just don't know about the record industry, nor do a lot of the music publishers... that's why they lose so much money each year. To be a fan and to give up on this now is just a no no imho.

Well, I hope it doesn't mean "Hearing Aid Council." ... Some artists might hope *for* that -- but not Elliott.

I'm skeptical about Hot Adult Contemporary embracing One Word on a large scale, mainly because it sounds like soft, urban-influenced pop while the HAC I'm familiar with sounds kind of rock-oriented, in general.

Nevertheless. even if something is "done" on one format, that doesn't in the least mean it's done on *all* formats. ... Don't the AC formats *usually* pick up songs and artists only after they've already pretty much had their run on pop or rhythmic or whatever? (and not necessarily a great run, either. Things become hits on AC formats that never dented the others...) Seems that way to me, anyway. If they're playing it, then request away, I'd say.

HAC has 4 spins showing for Elliott for the song ONE WORD with no stations on format..

My strategy is someone different. WFY is burning up on three formats now. Top 40 with 2159 spins, HAC 896 spins, and AC with 1904 spins for the week. WFY is # 5 on Mainstream.I have been sending out requests to LOCAL STATIONS for WFY to TOP 40 stations playing WFY and also with a plug for more music from Elliott in 2008. It may lead to some playing of ONE WORD. Showing love for Elliott and WFY is a plus now and could be the key to more Elliott music down the road.. :awe: :1word:

Because we are such a dedicated and involved fan base, I'm really beginning to think that we need some direction from Elliott's team. We're at a lull in activity and we don't know what to do with ourselves. None of us want to do anything that would harm Elliott's chances of being played on the radio or getting guest appearances, etc... but we so want to do what we can to help.

So I guess what I'm getting at is that I'm to the point I wish his team would give us some feedback about what we should be doing w/ our Elliott energy and enthusiasm. I don't have any idea if that is kosher or not but it would ease some minds here. I'm afraid the uncertainty and differing opinions will begin to negatively affect the closeness of this board.

ITA, wowhesgood. Last thing we need is bickering on this board during this lull in Elliott news. I think we should just all use good judgment and not irritate any radio stations or tv shows by being over-zealous. General tips about 'What not to do, based on results of bad actions from previous idol's fans', are welcomed by me. Supporting and promoting Elliott in every POSITIVE way should be our goal.

I have gotten great responses from the Dj's . No harm in requesting Elliott's WFY... they like to get feedback.Bringing the song WFY back into play and getting a request for it is a positive as long as we do not hound one single station all at once.That is spam.. we are not that big of a group.. There ar well over a few hundred stations on each format so I doubt they will be spammed.. it is when everyone jumps on one station that gives a negative vibe.

I promise it wasn't me!! I will listen to my local HAC stations, and if I hear them playing Elliott, then I will call and let them know how much I love the song/his music and thank them, but I would never ever dream of going overboard when it comes to his singles, and I am quite positive that the vast majority of the train knows when to go forward, and when to hold back, and I am very proud of that!

Oh and Linda yes...look what BELIEVING did for Elliott? Nothing bad can ever come from believing, and positive thinking!

yes, especially since my entire post was meant to be light-hearted and simply positive; I know the realities....no rose-colored glasses here.... but the glass remains half full, and the outlook must always be "onward and upward", regardless.

One of the local station in Atlanta still has OW on its playlist, so I'm continuing to request. Although there's been a recognizable decrease in spins in the last 2 weeks, and they more often go back to WFY, they seem willing to play both songs. I couldn't call over the holidays, but I've gone back to it. Since there's hardly anyone else in my area, I can't believe that I'm doing anything but helping Elliott by requesting. I don't know what the future of the song holds, but if anyone can help to keep his songs on the airwaves, then by all means, keep it up. My experience is that the dj's welcome requests and just like to know that they have listeners.

F Y I - Listening to OW right now on Lite 98 in Richmond (AC station). They played it at least twice during the day yesterday and today.

I think OW's best shot is AC. Maybe if they ever stop playing WFY, they'll start playing it.

Hopefully we all won't go nuts during this lull. Too bad VH1 pulled the OW video as that would have kept everyone busy while we waited for whatever comes next.

Anyway, if OW isn't happening, there's nothing wrong is requesting WFY on AC and moving it up the chart there. The main thing is E's album continues to sell consistently.

Maybe we'll get lucky and E's song will be the first single off Randy Jackson's album. :drool:

Well, at least it gives a few more people a place to request OW (...abbreviation seems a little ironic, in light of recent events ... ).

And with WFY playing and thus requestable in a bunch of places, that should keep a fair number of us occupied. Given the hoopla over Top 40, I think we've kind of given AC and HAC short shrift up to now, but that's a format that will probably be big in Elliott's future.

I feel lucky to have heard OW because it is now one of my favorite songs! I really love it no matter how it does anywhere.

I am hoping AC will pick it up...

The 169 ranking of OW with a bullet is interesting because last week it appears that OW wasn't even on the AC charts.

But what I really was late to the party on is WFY being at #5 with a bullet on AC. How can we say we don't have anywhere to channel our energies?

The fact that there is some overlay with WFY while in the Top Ten on AC and introducing OW seems to be part of the AC formula doesn't it? Bring in the second song of an artist while his/her other single is ripping up in the Top 10?

I just had an interesting (startling) thing happen. Locally I've had really good luck requesting at our Top 40 station (WNCI). They have always been pleasant and have played lots of WFY. They, of course, have still been playing, WFY, even when I request OW, but they are doing a good job of being nice about the whole thing. I live really close to our AC station (WSNY) and I've taken in both of Elliott's CDs and told them to enjoy. I've sent two e-mail requests for WFY since last summer and after receiving a return e-mail for the second one politely telling me to go .... (put in our own words) I haven't done anymore requesting there. In the meantime you tell me that WFY is #5 on AC. As far as I know, they have not played it. I went to Goggle WSNY and Mediabase and the top item that came up was a reference to something called - playclay.com with a bump. I don't think it's about playdough and I think I might as well give up requesting that Elliott be played on Sunny 95. Wow, this is distressing for me - I hope that they realize that I haven't been pestering them about Elliott - this is more stuff to confuse us about what to do to be helpful fans.

I just googled exactly what you said, and then clicked on the first link. It's a link to a Clay forum, not WSNY station. I think the Clay forum is trying to get airplay for Clay, as well.

eta: I also looked up the station's (WSNY) 7 day playlist on mediabase and WFY is #24....up from 26 :)

I'm just wondering if they are getting too much pressure from fans, because the director didn't seem very pleasant and I don't know why they aren't playing Elliott if so many other AC stations are starting to. I'm afraid I came in on the Clay promotion pressure and here I was just supporting yet again another Idol. Should I not worry and request anyway, or should I let it go.
