Title: Xmas CD #32 On BB Chart
jamie50 - January 9, 2008 02:55 PM (GMT)
Here's the word from Billboard:
Don't be alarmed by the 123-32 jump for Elliott Yamin's "Sounds of the Season" holiday EP. The set, exclusively available through Target, was offered at a bargain basement price last week at the retailer. It moved 23,000 this week -- a gain of 112%. It's not the only album to benefit from blowout pricing. Among the obvious beneficiaries are KT Tunstall's own "Sounds of the Season," re-entering at No. 92 with a 176% gain.
The good news is it's #32 on the charts. I guess it's bad it got there because it was on sale but still overall - it's cool.

So total sales would be, what -- 79,000 now, or something like that? Very cool. Even if it only costs two bucks, you don't buy it if you don't want to hear it.
jamie50 - January 9, 2008 03:03 PM (GMT)
Elliott outsold both Jordin and Blake this week and a ton of big name artists.
I guess doing it at 75% off isn't great but people wouldn't buy it if they didn't want it. So the interest is there. Elliott, lower the price of your regular CD and get back on the charts baby. Beyonce got back on the charts one week by lowering the price of her ablum to $5. People still have to want it no matter how cheap it is.
Linda4Elliott - January 9, 2008 03:05 PM (GMT)
cool! Sale or not......that's a great #!!!!! :cheerleaders:
mel0207 - January 9, 2008 03:09 PM (GMT)
Well, I know the CD is priced very cheaply, but 23,000 in sales is great anyway.
I wonder how many total were shipped? I'm thinking he's probably sold close to the whole shipment.
79,000 total sales is great! :rocker:

What I am absolutely LOVING is that Elliott Yamin and his music is getting into more and more hands to be played.. I am so excited about this!!!!! Elliott getting more and more exposure to the listening public!!!!
YAY!!!!!!! :hooray:
chloewannabee - January 9, 2008 03:16 PM (GMT)
Dayum! I never got back to Target to take advantage of the sale price, for some early 2008 Christmas shopping!
I did just buy another of the regular cd's for a birthday gift for my sister.

WOW!!! Now that is amazing.
jamie50 - January 9, 2008 03:37 PM (GMT)
Elliott has a shot at outselling Daughtry this week. His album also sold around 23K. We'll have to wait until whole chart comes out to know. :rocker:

Around 23,000 for the debut!! wooohooo! yes!
What is an estimate at total debut album sales? It should be very close to or even over 500,000!!
jamie50 - January 9, 2008 03:42 PM (GMT)
Not the debut album, the Xmas CD sold 23K this week. No numbers yet for the regular album. It appears the Xmas CD sold a total of 79K over all.

 I misunderstood...for some reason I thought you meant the SOTS and the debut sold that much...got all excited for a minute there, boy I hate when I do that to myself. But it will be soon though!

This is fabulous! Yes - not only would people not buy it if they didn't want it - it was not the only CD that was on sale, either. All the holiday stuff was on sale, right? So this is great no matter how you look at it!
Taratova - January 9, 2008 05:46 PM (GMT)
And great songs on this CD too.. Warm Me Up, Jingle Bells, The Christmas song, Little Drummer boy, well they are ALL GOOD!!

That's what I like, too.
SoulMusicRocks - January 9, 2008 05:53 PM (GMT)
I hope people that listen to his X-mas CD will eventually buy the debut too. I'm sure he has many new fans from just this CD alone. The sales certainly prove it!
onlyforelliott - January 9, 2008 06:02 PM (GMT)
The CD's are already showing up on Ebay as are probably many other after-Christmas bargains. I view this as a good thing because now the CD will have an even wider distribution.
MOMster - January 9, 2008 06:04 PM (GMT)
after the holidays i doubt anybody would buy a full price holiday cd - i sure wouldn't.
no cds at full price versus 23k at a couple bucks - seems like an obvious win for Elliott
yellin4yamin - January 9, 2008 06:06 PM (GMT)
I don't understand, then why does the chart say this?
http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/charts/char...e+Billboard+200am I looking in the wrong place?? lol;)
jamie50 - January 9, 2008 06:09 PM (GMT)
For some reason, Billboard dates their charts two weeks ahead of the sales date. The current chart (dated 1/19) will show up officially on Friday. It always confuses me too.
Only people who pay $ get access to the numbers today but Billboard puts out a little summary and E's album was mentioned.

yellin4yamin - January 9, 2008 06:47 PM (GMT)
why is it not listed on that one either? It has Daughtry at just over 23K and coming in a 25 on the chart.
jamie50 - January 9, 2008 06:53 PM (GMT)
Here's the Billboard link. It's up now:
http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/articl...t_id=1003694375You won't see Elliott's Xmas numbers on HDD since it's only sold at Target.
Target exclusives only give their numbers to Billboard. I know it's very confusing. :rotfl:
Until this year, albums sold at one chain couldn't be included in the BB200 but the Eagles changed that.
applesauce - January 9, 2008 07:31 PM (GMT)
Since Josh Groban has already sold umpty-up millions of his Christmas cd, there's no comparison of course, but this is kind of fun to see:
“Taking an even bigger postholiday hit, Josh Groban's Noël plummeted 55 spots to 58 selling 14,000 copies. Two weeks ago, the holiday disc sold 757,000 copies, a 2007 best for a non-debuting week, helping solidify its place as the year's top-selling release."
Elliott Outsells Year's Top-Selling Album, Noel!!

Sorry Josh Groban fans, but I love Elliott's soulful voice much better. Josh has plenty of fans but I believe in time Elliott will have more fans. Yes, a zillion is a good estimate...

bargain basement or not...
Elliott has the highest charting CD from Target's trio, I believe. :-)
