Title: Idols Mega Sales Chart

georgiafan1 - January 11, 2008 05:41 AM (GMT)
Ken Barnes of USA Today, Idol Chatter, has posted an Ultimate SoundScan Sales/Download Checklist chart of total CD/EP sales and downloads for all Idols. Very interesting:

http://blogs.usatoday.com/idolchatter/2008...te-so.html#more

QUOTE
Album sales:

11. Elliott Yamin: 563,000 total

Elliott Yamin: 484,000

Sounds of the Season: 79,000

Downloads (rounded totals for all tracks found in SoundScan):

5. Elliott Yamin: 1.1 million

I wonder what else sold big in order to get Elliott to 1.1 million single downloads.

It's great to see Elliott so high on the charts which included all of the Idols. Our boy has done good. LOL.

That's Elliott laughing all the way to the bank. Who he may be laughing at, we can all just ponder.

Elliott's album is the second highest selling album who isn't under Clive. Gracin is fist, but he's Country, and Country has an audience that still buys CDs. So really, when you think about it, Elliott is #1. :rocker:

CathyEM - January 11, 2008 12:16 PM (GMT)

Hey, I was going to say that he's just getting started, but also, the Clive thing is true. This is all good and I believe with all my heart that some day he'll be at the top of the list - getting more fans every second.

sugarfree - January 11, 2008 01:26 PM (GMT)
Woot, who would expect? Yes, Elliott smart move. SMART MOVE.

itslate - January 11, 2008 01:55 PM (GMT)

Elliott has had a great 2-year run. He got to live his dream of becoming a recording artist. He's made smart decisions and he has worked his butt off. Hopefully, the best is yet to come. :elliottcap:

If anyone has not yet bought the "One Word" single download, this would be a great time.

You keep rollin' baby! This is much deserved success.

Don't want to insult any country music fans, but AI contenders surely have an easier chance for success if they sing country. Stigma of American Idol doesn't seem to have any affect on this genre. It also proves to me that you can really improve vocally and performance wise if you just keep performing. Kellie and Bucky are much better now. Though I always loved Bucky for his personality. Bucky and Elliott were a hoot on Larry King.

mominny - January 11, 2008 05:28 PM (GMT)
I am going to sing:

etrain helped keep him lifted, knew he was gifted and knew he was going to make it some day........

I'm overwhelmed at work, pardon my digression.

terriberriez - January 11, 2008 07:17 PM (GMT)
That's really great for Elliott. Only one position shy from Idols top 10 highest sellers list! :)

jogr - January 11, 2008 11:14 PM (GMT)
There were also about 50,000 CD's sales outside the US reported a month or 2 ago. Now this number is probably higher.

KittyloverforElliott - January 12, 2008 03:25 AM (GMT)
I am really proud to be an Elliott fan. I always knew he had a great voice and it is so exciting to see that others are agreeing as well and he will hit the top 10 in the future because this is only beginning. :elliottelliott:

I agree that Country tends to accept artists and songs as long as they are liked by their audience. I love Bucky too and I like Kellie as well and thrilled they have both found success so far.

Great to see the numbers for Elliott. I hope sales continue to mount!

Also,

Starting next year, Elliott can put up his Xmas CD for sale on Itunes, right? I bet there are gonna be a ton more downloads next year once we hit the holiday season.

It's my hope that he takes those songs, adds a few new ones of his choosing, and releases a brand new holiday collection (well, it will have to be new as "Sounds of the Season" is an NBC/Target collection).

Since Elliott said he'd own the xmas songs, I wonder if and/or when they'll be available for download?
