Title: E Outsells Josh Groban
Description: #1
jamie50 - January 11, 2008 08:16 AM (GMT)
Elliott's Xmas CD is the #1 Holiday Album on the BB chart (this week. Groban is #2)
Obviously Josh has done well overall. KT Tunstall and Taylor Swift show up as well. The album is also the Pace Setter on the BB 200 chart (greatest gainer of the week) and is #4 on the BB Indy Chart (after Radiohead, Garth Brooks and The Eagles). It's always good to be #1.
http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/charts/char...+Holiday+AlbumsOne day I want to know how many Xmas CDs Swift and Tunstall sold.

I think I remember one AI season where they listed the Idol alums' #1s (or maybe I hallucinate). Anyway, if they ever do it again, they'll have to include E. Yay!
belle_marquez - January 11, 2008 01:38 PM (GMT)
That's so GREAT!!! :) I love Josh Groban but E's Xmas CD makes me groove. :hooray:

Can anyone get a screengrab of the greatest gainer on the Billboard top 200?
I know this is due to discounting, but still, HE BEAT GROBAN. And Tunstall and Swift were discounted just as much, AND HE BEAT THEM!!!
Clearly, price matters a ton in album sales. Elliott, PLEASE find a way to put a sale on your regular CD! It's been far too expensive all year long, except for the magic Target pricing when it debuted.
artymom - January 11, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
LOVING all the good news today! :hooray:
MOMster - January 11, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
This will look great on his resume!
Judy - January 11, 2008 07:02 PM (GMT)
A well-deserved first place. Heh, I'm still playing this cd and it is way past the holidays.
merrr - January 11, 2008 07:06 PM (GMT)
How long was Josh at #1 until this week? :)
terriberriez - January 11, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
Wow! Go Elliott!!! I still haven't purchased the Christmas cd yet. lol
MOMster - January 11, 2008 07:14 PM (GMT)
now maybe Oprah will have Elliott on her show - Josh Groban was on her show and she totally kissed his butt and promoted his CD!
jamie50 - January 11, 2008 09:39 PM (GMT)
I just realized that Josh Groban was probably #1 the entire Xmas season except for this one week when it was Elliott. I'm pretty sure this chart will be gone by next week (Xmas has to end eventually). :rocker:
Please Hickory put Elliott's regular CD on sale. Just pricing it at $9.99 should increase sales tremendously.

That's really great that Elliott can claim another #1 title. His Christmas CD had so many awesome songs on it. Maybe they will re-release or he will create another one next year? Anyway, congrats to E.
Edited: Nevermind :)

My sister emailed me last weekend that she bought the CD which was on sale with all the other Christmas merchandise at 90% off for 69 cents! This was in Harrisonburg, VA.

This news just makes my day!! I don't care how low it was priced I'm just glad that he outsold Josh Groban. I listened to Josh's cd and found it boring, boring, boring. I overheard a lady at Barnes & Nobles saying how great it was and I was so wishing I had one of Elliott's SOTS cds handy to hand to her and say, "Now this is really great."
WTG Elliott & Target too!!!!
Ebomb - January 12, 2008 04:09 AM (GMT)
That's cool I own both of the albums, and I must say that I do like Josh's better, but then again I guess I just like my christmas served up traditional..however i did love Warm Me Up! But thats kool that he at #1
nymphadora - January 12, 2008 04:15 AM (GMT)
:woohoo: Congratulations, Elliott!!!

I have to add that I'm also a fan of Josh's. Before Elliott came along, he was my favorite male vocalist. Comparing their voices is like comparing apples to oranges, though. They are both very good at what they do. One has a very pure, classically trained sound with a bit of pop sensibility, and the other is a raw, soulful vocalist who is incredibly versatile and can "sell" any song with passion and conviction.

Agreed. Both are really talented in a time where most artists are mediocre at best! So way to go Josh (unless he makes you gag tehe) and Elliott! :elliottelliott:

Yes, thanks!
Elliott's had two CDs in the top 40 of the overall chart now. Very impressive.
