Title: A Few Extra

imthesame - January 13, 2008 04:13 PM (GMT)
A have a few extra Elliott CD's laying around - actually they are part of my Elliott shrine. I've given CD's to practically everyone I know in the past 10 months and I thought I was finished gifting them. Not so. I was in the bank the other day and one of my old piano students was my teller. She's all grown up and has 2 children now. I ran out to my car and got a CD to gift her (music connection and all and I wanted her to have the comforting feeling of knowing I was still crazy). As it turns out she had literally never heard of Elliott (where has she been?). She was pleased to receive the CD and said she was sure she'd like it - the fun part was that the next teller over squealed and said, "oh, Elliott Yamin - I love him - I voted for him - he's so wonderful" - on and on and on - well, the whole bank crowd was looking at us and everyone now knows about Elliott. I will keep carrying a copy in my car to give away - you never know who you'll run into.

I got a call from an old, old friend (childhood) yesterday. She is 4 years younger than I am and I was her babysitter when we were like 10 and 14 on. Her parents would have me stay overnight so we were more friends than anything. It was usually a Saturday night and we'd dance and dance and laugh and laugh to the music of Lawrence Welk so I know she'll love the CD (Welk and Yamin - what do I mean in this statement? - just kidding). I'm giving her one when she comes to visit me this afternoon. She's visiting her parents in town - I bet she'll look old after all these years - thank goodness I'll look just the same - at least I'm still immature.

Great story, its, I should be more generous. I had convinced my sister and BIL to go to the Elliott concert in Orlando last October. It turned out my BIL's secretary was an Elliott fan and had his cd, so she burned one for my BIL. Needless to say, I worked on them after they loved the concert so much to tell them they had to buy the download from iTunes to get additional songs. I don't know if it ever happened. Then I find out they burned another cd for one of their daughters! They have 4 kids, so I don't think that's the end of it. I figure I owe Elliott at least two album downloads now because of my relatives.

I liked the stories, and to add I have a story about getting the word out about Elliott...
I attended a supervisory course sponsored at my job. As part of one of the exercises we had to talk about a hobby and something no one knew about ourselves. When my turn came I told them about my campaign to get the word out about Elliott Yamin. By the blank look on their faces I knew more information was needed. I explained that he was the 3rd place finalist on the 5th Season of American Idol...His song "Wait for You" is on the radio? I saw blank looks all around. I felt like I was on an alien planet. I live out on the Plains of Colorado and I know that R&B and pop music are not that popular, but come on! Anyway, I am proud to say that I tell anyone and everyone about E. I love him and follow his career closely. I know GREAT things are still ahead. I will always be a big fan!! :elliottelliott:

That's sorta what I've been doing, Imthesame. I will buy three at a time and just keep them with me and sooner or later, it becomes apparent who I should give one to. When those three are gone, I go and buy three more. No really neat stories to go with that, though. LOL! Actually I have a really cool unrelated Elliott story. Last night, my daughter and I ate at Ruby Tuesday and while I was at the salad bar, the guy came to replenish some of the ingredients and he was humming to himself and guess what he was humming! It was Wait For You! A lot of people have said they heard it in a restaurant, but so far, nobody has heard it in a restaurant liek that, I'll bet! It was soooooo cool!!!!

:awe: I am just loving these stories. I am not a superstious type person, but my sister that I go to bingo with is, so I took Elliott's Sounds of The Season (unwrapped) to bingo before x.mas for good luck. I WON!! One of the callers saw the c.d. sitting there on the table with us and said. "Oh I just love that guy! I didn't know he had a x.mas album out". So I gave her my "good luck" c.d. and haven't won at bingo since. Grrr. Oh well, Elliott has brought me all kinds of goodies besides luck. So it's all good... :elliottcap:

Elliott is major good luck - he always turns my day around for the best - and some say we make our own luck, so if the day is turned around then our luck is all going to be good whether we know it or not. Good stories - keep them coming. I'll let you know how things go with my friend - she'll be here in about an hour - she's in seminary so we'll talk religion and ELLIOTT!

So cute!!! So you see, you're still "imthesame" after all!!! Man, I can't wait for the day I get to run into my best friend when I was 14!!! She and I too, used to sing and dance to - well, I can't remember their names - some King sisters or something - and I used to make sure she outsang me with her opera voice!!! Great times they were, weren't they? A funny thought - Welk & Yamin!!!
Hey, btw, I've just one worn out CD, so if either of you have another you'd gladly like to pass on, you can PM me!!! The last few times I've checked our local Walmart, they've been OUT, and I've even checked Target, no Elliott!!! It would be nice to hold onto one, that I'd surely share where it is needed (as in, places where he's not heard of yet - yes, these do exist!), and I would not GREEDILY keep it for myself, I PROMISE!! I'd think in terms of groups of people where music is played - something like that!!

OMG, these stories are great! It's wonderful to find out I'm not the only one with a terminal case of "E disease" as my husband has named it! I connected with my best friend from high school last year and she shares my Elliott obsession, so we happily go wherever we can to see Elliott and husbands don't have to go. Everybody's happy!

I've also gifted both of Elliott's cd in the office. Some people wanted to burn it but I totally refused. I went out of my way to go to Target/Walmart to buy the cd's and brought it to work and gave them away....imthesame, thanks for the idea of carrying extra in the car. And oh, before I forget, my bank story...lol...one of the girls in new accounts is an E fan...so when Elliott was here in October, I bought the first 5 (xmas)that Target released and had Elliott autograph the cd's (yes, personalized with their names!). Long story short...my personal banker gives me the best service all the time, lol!

A little bit of Elliott goes a long way, doesn't he?!? WOW, I'll keep THAT in mind!!! I need all the help with banking that I can get!!!

imthesame - January 15, 2008 02:56 AM (GMT)
Well my old friend came on Sunday. Because she's in seminary school in addition to talking about our families, old times, and just plain catching up we talked intensely about religion and politics. I love to talk about religion and politics especially with a smarty pants like my friend. She's already a lawyer, but she was unhappy working as a lawyer and decided to take another path. Anyway she had to leave way too soon - she had a church obligation to get to, but before she left I told her my life had taken a new direction too. I presented my Elliott CD to her and reminded her that I was still crazy after all these years. She laughed and was happy to receive the CD - she had never heard of Elliott (geez), but she was going to start listening to him right away. As I thought over the visit and reflected on our life focusing choices I decided that I was right on with mine! Her last comment to me as she smiled (smirked) at my silliness was, "we need to talk more". We both were working as evangelists on Sunday. Darn it, I'm not ashamed of my love of pop culture, art, music, singers, Elliott, Elliott, Elliott (did I say Elliott?).

Eyess2NKiss - January 15, 2008 03:23 AM (GMT)
That is just all too cute, imthesame!! Yes, the directions we all take can be so interesting and certainly nothing to be ashamed of!! That was so great, and I hope you'll get to talk more often now!!
I'm wishing one day, I'll be able to catch up with my long lost former best friend to find out how she's turned out!! I wouldn't be surprised if we find we've both found Elliott to idolize and sing to!!
Being on this etrain keeps getting more interesting, as I've found some similarities in experiences we share!! It's so cool!!

Eyess2NKiss - January 15, 2008 03:26 AM (GMT)
Funny thought while this came to me: Elliott religion!! If I were ever to be asked!! haha!!

georgiafan1 - January 16, 2008 02:02 AM (GMT)
Those are wonderful stories of spreading the Elliott love. Thanks for sharing, everyone.
