chloewannabee - January 17, 2008 12:22 PM (GMT)
it's right up there with the best!
But then so are a few dozen others of ASFY
I am still partial to the suit and blue tie one, though!!!! :1word:

Pretty sure it was early last summer when he inked the deal with Target...........and before "THE HAT" went missing!!!!1

This one is my favorite. I have it on my ipod. It used to be on youtube because I had it bookmarked and then it was removed. Glad to see it back again.

Yes I agree his best! I have a copy on my computer before it was pulled. This was done at the Target for employees only. There was/is? some problems with the copyright with Target, so it was pulled.
Man he's the best hummer I've ever heard :). I'd compare this hum to the one in Train Wreck :awe:
And I have the date as 6/4/07

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, but THE SUIT!!!!!! What about THE SUIT!!!!!!!!!
wowhesgood - January 17, 2008 02:22 PM (GMT)
Yep, this one's good. I love how he sang it a bit subdued.
So, as I'm watching it I had to watch a few other videos. I absolutley love Little Ghetto Boy, any performance and then there's IYMTYEK from State Fair. I swear, that one gets me everytime!!!!!

This one has always been my favorite!!! I was devastated when it was originally removed from youtube. I'm so glad it's back :)

Oh Elliott sounds amazing! (He looks pretty amazing too)
This is my first time hearing this version of ASFY, thank you so much for posting! I really enjoyed this version, Elliott seems relaxed and his singing is so romantic and intimate... :awe: :thud:

I went to listen again and the video has been removed. Probably copyright issues? I'm glad I got to hear it, it is amazing! Would it be possible/legal to post an mp3 of it?
PoorMe - January 17, 2008 08:35 PM (GMT)
Too bad it's gone. I love it.

Somebody, somewhere knows that this is a masterpiece so they're saving it for something. I remember seeing and hearing the Target ASFY and then it disappeared. I didn't get here in time, this time, but I was blessed to hear it the last time before it disappeared. I was stunned by my own emotional reaction - I wept profusely - I'm glad Elliott said that he cried at the sound of Donny Hathaway's voice so he can understand what his voice does to me. It's so emotionally beyond words that crying is all I can do - somehow within its depth I see and feel a glimpse of the meaning of life.

oh my, he sounds so beautiful here! I think he's getting better, if that's possible lol.

I like also Boston' s version (although the audience is really noisy).
Here it is:

Thank for the links. Elliott sounds great singing ASFY.
I'm glad that Elliott no longer does those leaning moves when he sings while sitting on stools like he was doing in the first video. He's so much more polished as a performer now. I've always been proud of him but he just gets better and better.
Linda4Elliott - January 18, 2008 05:09 PM (GMT)
JMO, the leans remind me of Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder. Both of them do that. I think alot of soul singers do some moves, not always considered attractive, make faces, etc......they seem to be more concerned with feeling a song, rather than looking good.

Yes, the leans also reminded me of Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Taylor. I never liked seeing any of them do it but I realize that the leans were natural to Ray and Stevie. I really did not like seeing Elliott do it. Elliott is an original, those sitting leans did not really suit him, IMHO.
Looking at the videos from the past few months when he performed on stools, he seemed more comfortable and centered and (IMHO) better.
PoorMe - January 18, 2008 07:03 PM (GMT)
I love when he sways to the music in this performance. It's like he's on his own little planet enjoying the song, and it really comes out when he sings. It's a little different from most of his performances of ASFY because he's not feeding off the audience like he normally does in concert. I love it because it's not only beautiful, but feels very personal and intimate. This performance, more than any other, brings me to tears.
MOMster - January 19, 2008 12:44 AM (GMT)
i'm kinda afraid he will fall of his stool when he does that, but otherwise it doesn't bother me at all -hee! I love this performance - his voice sounded fantastic and he wasn't rushed at all. just beautiful

... and I guess that makes him the polar opposite of Kat "is my lipstick fresh?" McPhee!!
twinsloveelliott - January 19, 2008 03:43 AM (GMT)
He also does this thing when he is standing at the mike where he gets up on his toes for the high notes. But to be honest, I love his mannerisms, and could watch him endlessly. He is sooo cute! :toocute:
trouble - January 19, 2008 12:36 PM (GMT)
I just think his mannerism's make him all the more endearing . :awe: There isn't a version of ASFY that doesn't move me to tears ! It was the first song I listened to after tearing open the CD , I cried like a baby :thud: I know Y'All unerstand !
agahlee - January 19, 2008 01:55 PM (GMT)
I love that version of ASFY, although it is so cute when he says, "I'm singing this song for ya'll." Elliott out does himself every time; he only gets better. I could listen to him all day!

Trouble, oh yes, we do! :etrain:
KittyloverforElliott - January 20, 2008 07:59 PM (GMT)
That was amazing--so tender and full of soul. I was mesmerized by it and I have heard that song many times. Just gorgeous. He was really in the zone.

O.M.G.
This is definitely the best version ever.
Love to watch his smiles when he sings...
