I found this video and I think it's very funny in light of the debate regarding Gay Marriage in the other thread...
It's all in fun...no disrespect meant to anyone or their opinions...just have a laugh with it...

Wow, that's special. That argument only looks even more rediculous when set to music (the ruining the sanctity of marriage crap that the fundies are pulling).

Edited: I'm for marriage too. For marriage that recognizes Gay and Lesbian couples who have been together for 20 + years and still are not recognized by the government nor given the same rights/protections under the law. It's so unfair that these people who are in love and have made their own family are not given the same rights and equal protection under the law.
For me it's a simple case of Gay rights being human rights and that everyone deserves to be treated the same by the law

I am not for marriage for homosexuals. It is written by God that sex with man and man and woman and woman is not God's plan. The act is not acceptable to God so I don't think he would want marriage for gays.
We must remember to separate the act from the person. I don't hate people who are gay. I believe they has a recompense already . I wish all people love .

It might not be hatred, but it is a way to justify discrimination and inequality at the level of the state. If it wasn't, we would not have legislation like the Defense of Marriage Act. It is an artful and politically correct way that seeks to write inequality into the U.S. Constitution and perpetuate negativity towards the Gay community. With all due respect Taratova, if you wish all people love, why not advocate full and equal rights for GLBT including the 1,000+ rights administered through civil marriage? It's fine to have your Religious beliefs, but why should committed Gay couples who have been together for years or want to be not have that same right as Straight couples? And I mean reasoning that goes beyond theological constructs or notions of tradition.
I hope you know I'm not trying to be mean or anything. I'm just trying to understand your thinking better.

I would be going against the word of God and God is love. God wrote it and I did not get here on my own . If I believe God created me , I believe it is healthy direction.
Marriage is also to protect children. If we all were gay we would not even be here. God ordained it and I believe it is for men and women . Gay couples have civil unions. I do have friends who are gay. And they respect my views as I do theirs.
There is separation of church and state , yet secular beliefs are allowed in government. It this fair?

Actually Gays can have families just as Straight couples can. Albeit through another way, it is very much possible. There are options for adoption or artificial insemination (SP?) which permit the Gay or Lesbian individual to have a family. Unfortunately, the current hostile climate has created many barriers including straight forward discrimination by not allowing Gays to adopt at the state level. It's very sad because these stable, happy, and wonderful couples are unable to fulfill their wish to have a family.
Of course procreation is needed to keep the population going. But that is why the genetic diversity that (IMO) programs our Sexual Orientation is varied. Could you imagine if we looked the same, spoke the same, and believed the same things? It would be a boring world in which there would not be much variety and uniqueness to the expression of humanity. Through mutual respect and understanding, I think the country will move in a direction that values the diversity of human development in future years.
The question of mixing religion and politics has been a tricky one at the least. I feel that the church should be able to do its own thing independent from the Government and vice versa. It's what helps keep the freedom of religious belief strong and a chorus of opinions from many sides to be heard. Hopefully in the future there will be more of an open dialogue (like this) that is peaceful discourse. It is a way to move forward.

I have seen and heard more about the gay community more than most. And even more situations that were quite different.
There is a bad side too, and know the good and bad of it all on all who is affected on all decisions.
I have even known of men turn into women and their children in shock to see their dad become a woman and go on tv as such. There are all kinds of situations .
I can't even imagine how it must feel to have a father turned into a woman . To wear a wig, makeup and dresses.
I have even known a gay man who became straight and denounced the gay community . Everyone is different even in the gay community. Most gays don't want children.

Male to Female or Female to Male is known as Transgender and is totally different from being Gay or Lesbian. From what I've read on the subject, the Sex reassignment surgery and transformation is liberating for the man or woman. Unfortunately, a great deal of prejudice still exists against Transgendered men and women. I have met someone who is Transgender through work and they have to deal with so much discrimination on a daily basis. They are happy with themselves because they no longer have the gender dysphoria from being physically the opposite gender when they knew they were the opposite gender.
I try to keep an open mind (obviously), but I seriously doubt a Gay man can become Straight. He can suppress and deny his thoughts/feelings, but he will never be "turned" Straight. This is the idea set forth by "Reparative Therapy" which advocates turning Gays Straight as if there is something wrong with them. Again, they can teach techniques which help cause hiding, denial, and suppression, but it does not change a persons Sexual Orientation. The sad part is that when people denounce the Gay community when they themselves are Gay it is really self-loathing and apart of coming to terms with who they are. I hope he eventually finds happiness and is genuine with who he is because if not that will not be good for his well-being, IMHO.

My belief is anyone can become gay , straight etc., just as anyone can become a smoker, drinker. It is that some are more adapted to such. God does not leave us without wisdom.
Of course there are suppressions, someone may want to steal in their mind, and act on it , some don't. It is first manifested in the mind and spirit. We are all different and complex beings. But we have a God who loves us all. His power and love is the strongest force .
We also have a powerful God who knows all and he knows us better than we know ourselves. He created us. We are constantly looking for wisdom and to have revelation of the truth. God is the helper , healer, and all good things come from him. God wants us happy and fulfilled here on earth.

I disagree with this statement. To liken a persons Sexual Orientation to smoking/drinking is dehumanizing. Most people I know/have spoken to say they have always known they were attracted to the same sex or both if they are bisexual. I'm not saying the environment has nothing to do with the formation of Sexual Orientation because that needs to be researched more. Based on current thinking, it seems more biologically derived and internal as opposed to environmental.
My point being is that by making a statement like that, it seems like you can change your Sexual Orientation or "quit" it by comparing it to smoking or drinking. That is not true. Would someone who is Straight wake up one day and suddenly think they are Gay? No. They have probably always been attracted to the same sex, but have denied who they were. The process of coming out can be painful and really difficult for Gays/Lesbians due to the ongoing bias and negativity operating in our society. That is why I believe so many men and women pretend to be Straight and then seemingly "change" to Gay later in life. The reality is they are finally be honest with the world, and more imortantly, themselves. The person was always Gay and finally was empowered enough to live his or her life honestly and genuinely as who they really are.

Ever wonder why a person can be attracted to the same sex? The attraction is first in the mind. I also believe there are more things going on than physical. There are many things that we do not see. The bible talks about seducing spirits but many are not aware of that realm. It is deep to be sure. We are still finding out more about what can create our being. We still look for answers.
We all are different and God loves us all. That is the important message that God sends to all of us.
SoulMusicRocks - May 12, 2008 11:51 AM (GMT)
Sexual Orientation probably has something to do with the Hypothalamus because that is the part of the brain that controls sexual desire. Further research will need to be done to see if this is a viable biological reason for why a person is Straight. I agree about looking for these answers because it will finally put to rest the constant bickering between political groups.
If God loves everyone, then why can't Gays have the same rights as Straights? That seems to be more conditional than unconditional. I think God or whoever people believe in as their deity does love everyone. I wish human beings would embody that because if they did I doubt we would even be writing about this subject right now. Minorities like Gays/Lesbians would be fully equal with all the same rights under the law and we could move onto pressing issues because Civil/Human Rights would have been achieved.
