durden - April 2, 2008 11:51 AM (GMT)
Hey guys, I know we're all in the middle of mourning, so I thought this would probably cheer us all up.

Looks like real Love is the second single from Randy's album according to: http://pulsemusic.proboards48.com/index.cg...ay&thread=58668

jamie50 - April 2, 2008 11:58 AM (GMT)
"Real Love" has been confirmed as the second single off of Randy Jackson's Music Club: Volume 1. Goes for adds on Pop on 4/29 and on HAC on 4/14.

They did a radio edit so the song is a little shorter. I think the link above has the edited version.

great news, thanks for posting :)

jamie50 - April 2, 2008 12:29 PM (GMT)
This is the radio edit (I think)

I think a shortened version is just what the song needed.
It would be oh so wonderful for Elliott to have another big hit.
Fingers and toes crossed.

yeah, the shortened version sounds better, to me. Even though it cuts off the fabulous Elliott ending, I think the new version makes it a more unified song, without the trailing off at the end that bothered me on the first version.

How nice it would be to have some Elliott to request on the radio again.

jamie50 - April 2, 2008 01:47 PM (GMT)
Real Love is showing up on Yes and was played on WSSX in Charleston this morning. I didn't hear it but this is a comment for a fan of Kat's on another board:

"I'm listening to it on WSSX right now!!!!!!!!!! The DJ said that she liked the Elliott part a lot but not sure about Kat. This time they played the whole thing."

luvthatelliott - April 2, 2008 02:11 PM (GMT)
Very good news. Where can we hear the shorter version? I didn't see it on the link.

ohioguy45780 - April 2, 2008 02:11 PM (GMT)
this is welcome news; and I am glad that they edited it for radio.
I can see top 40 somewhere; this is an 'exposure" song, to help keep the names on the radio dial. HAC will be the best bet.

This is like One Republic f. Timbaland. They needed him to make it a hit. J/k

Jamie posted a couple posts up. Hi Lu!

durden - April 2, 2008 02:23 PM (GMT)
I'm just not happy that it shows up as Kat featuring Elliott. *sigh* Even the Kat fans concede that this is E's song.

You know that doesn't really bother me, makes it look like E's doing her a favor. Oooops, did I say that. LOL

ETA: Just want to make clear that I was just joking on the doing her a favor comment.

LOL.... love the way you think!

usually, the "featured" artist IS the "bigger" star. Just sayin'.....

elizajv - April 2, 2008 02:42 PM (GMT)
^I love how you put it, guys. And I'm glad that Elliott has a new single, possibly another hit, since most everyone's been raving about it, well, except for Kat's parts.

bigEfan - April 2, 2008 02:42 PM (GMT)
So happy to hear the news of the single release. I just hope no fan groups go nutso over requesting and hurt the song's chances. It will be nice to request an E song again. :awe: I hope it does really well...and hope it has the label backing i.e payola.

Yeah. Nevertheless, way better to be the person who's not listed at the star, but turns out to be the star, than the person who's listed first but then gets overshadowed by the mere "featured" player!

TxRangerette - April 2, 2008 02:57 PM (GMT)
I'm going to be the bad guy here for now: can we please refrain from "putting down" Kat on the most visible Forum on the Etrain at the moment? We've had a tremendous influx of visitors from different fan bases in the last few days because of Mama Yamin's passing and I'd hate for them to read these kind of posts on here. We have the OTR if you want a judicious discussion of controversial topics. Thanks for understanding, you guys!

^ Noted, Tx :)

I just listened to the new version and I really like it. I am happy that Kat and Elliott got this opportunity to share the spotlight. I hope the song becomes a huge hit.

ohioguy45780 - April 2, 2008 03:18 PM (GMT)
I do hope they release the edited version for sale; it really is better produced.

I actually can't believe people are worried about who gets top billing on the new single, especially at a time like this.

I've made no secret of the fact that I LOVE this song!!!! I'm so happy it's being released to radio. I've already downloaded it from iTunes and the peeps I've played it for really like it. So.... fingers crossed!

If you are using Foxfire the link may not work. It works with IE. (I have no idea what this means but maybe it'll help.)

Uplink posted in that thread that it's already gotten spins in Detroit (I missed it completely), Cincy, and Harrisburg.

We probably want to have some people monitoring yes.com and checking the Mediabase song report.

alienhamster - April 2, 2008 07:05 PM (GMT)
Here's the Mediabase report for Real Love so far (the date indicates first day of airplay):

Detroit WDVD-FM HAC Detroit 11 28 1 1 100 -- -- -- 1 03/31/2008 11
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cincinnati WKRQ-FM HAC Cincinnati 29 47 1 1 100 -- -- -- 1 03/30/2008 15
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Richmond WTVR-FM AC Richmond 56 -- -- 0 0 -- 1 -- 1 03/13/2008 --
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Harrisburg WHKF-FM POP Harrisburg 78 48 1 1 100 -- -- -- 1 04/01/2008 3

************************************************

I've confirmed that Detroit was a face-off on Monday night against Seether, but it lost. Even so, this station has a huge audience; it's one of the top HAC stations in the country. So this was good exposure.

They were one of the earliest stations to play Wait for You in a face-off, but they NEVER added the song even after it was a major hit. It was enormously frustrating as someone who lives here and listens to this station. They have a heavy Daughtry-style rock bias, with a fondness for Taylor Swift type stuff, too. But in recent months they've been playing slightly more R&B leaning stuff (like Alicia Keyes.)
