Title: Sales
PoorMe - April 3, 2008 12:02 AM (GMT)
From
Idol Chatter:Elliott sold 1,000, down from 1,500, total: 502,000.
elliottisamazing - April 3, 2008 12:03 AM (GMT)
I didnt know he passed 500K, thats exciting. :)
EYaminCDaughtryfan - April 3, 2008 12:04 AM (GMT)
Congrats Elliott!!!! :rocker: I didn't know the album had hit 500,000!
PoorMe - April 3, 2008 12:07 AM (GMT)
It happened last week, on the one-year anniversary of the album's release.
naberh - April 3, 2008 12:19 AM (GMT)
I don't think Elliott is going to sell a lot more of this album. But I don't care, cause he passed 500,000! :loons: :cheerleaders:
I Love Elliott - April 3, 2008 12:39 AM (GMT)
I have a feeling this album isn't done yet......
Taratova - April 3, 2008 02:37 AM (GMT)
There are CD's that are missed that is why they said Elliott went Gold some time ago.. he actually has sold more than those numbers... it could be 20% more ...
ohioguy45780 - April 3, 2008 02:52 AM (GMT)
exactly. Not all sales are counted by SoundScan; and not all tour sales are counted. I think I read he may have sold around 580K if you account for every sale (international, as well?).
Linda4Elliott - April 3, 2008 02:56 AM (GMT)
I thought the 580k reported was including the Sounds of the Season CD......
but I do also think the 502k does not include international sales, and maybe other places that don't report, tour sales, etc.....
but what do I know :rotfl: :rotfl:

Plus, if his next CD is successful, his first CD may get a resurgence. This happens with a number of artists.
In any case, album sales overall are SO low right now it's ridiculous. I expect that, since we're going into a recession too, the industry's only going to get worse. If Elliott is still managing to sell 1000/week with no CD promotion, that's still a good thing.

That is true. Let's hope that his second album does just as well if not better than his first.

and his "platinum" label would include the WFY sales (what DID those top out at?).
Pulse had the worldwide sales of the general CD at around 502K months ago.
It's "Hollywood" accounting, so only Elliott and Sony BMG know the real score.
Crazycate - April 3, 2008 12:53 PM (GMT)
Everytime I wish the numbers were a little higher, I remember that this is an indepenent album. Not to shabby, eh?
jamie50 - April 3, 2008 01:45 PM (GMT)
As Ken Barnes said this is a notable ahievement for an indy album.
I'm a big fan who tries to keep sane but this album went gold on one hit song. Jordin (who is a doll) has not sold a heck of a lot more at this point with two major singles (one duet with a huge radio star).
So I honestly think that if Elliott had the Clive machine behind him and maybe a hot duet with a major female star and one or two more obvious radio hit songs, this album would have had no problem going platinum. I'm pretty sure the suits know that as well.

That seems right to me, too. I suspect that that's a big reason -- besides Elliott's great-guy-ness -- that the Idol suits are keeping such close ties with somebody they didn't want a business relationship with at all two years ago. They know the signs of major success when they see them.

I so agree with this. How could anyone not notice all his achievements and those golden pipes? :awe:
jamie50 - April 9, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
Sales for the week thanks to Idol Chatter
Elliott stayed at 1,000, totaling 503,000.
Nice if the album could stay at this level for awhile.
chloewannabee - April 9, 2008 08:37 PM (GMT)
Betcha it will go up after IGB show :chloe: :chloe: :chloe:
jamie50 - April 9, 2008 08:45 PM (GMT)
His sales are actually holding up pretty well. He has the potential to outsell the albums of some past Idol winners at this rate (not a competition, just an observation.)
nanab - April 9, 2008 08:48 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the sales updates...I bet your right Chloe...after tonight I think were going to see sales pick up...
Linda4Elliott - April 9, 2008 08:59 PM (GMT)
I feel that sales may even have been a little higher if the CD was easier to find. They seem to be a bit scarce now. The sales have really been consistant for the last few weeks/months.
artymom - April 9, 2008 09:28 PM (GMT)
After reading everyone's posts I conclude...IT'S ALL GOOD!

michimotto - April 10, 2008 03:29 AM (GMT)
I wonder at the very weak sales for Randy's CD
sugarfree - April 10, 2008 05:00 AM (GMT)
Grats E for the 500K units! WooT!!! :rocker:
shinamarih - April 10, 2008 06:59 PM (GMT)
Wow..that's very good news indeed. I believe internationally, he sold very well too.

Flipboy5 - April 15, 2008 04:01 AM (GMT)
I guess any promotion for this album is over.
Let's get platinum next time!
ohioguy45780 - April 15, 2008 12:09 PM (GMT)
For an indie artist, earning even a GOLD is a great achievement.
and, remember, most of AI's non-winners that went Indie sold less than 30K.
See Constantine, the second Bo Bice, Varlos, etc.
Only The Shins really outsold Elliott last year on the Indie market.
sandyb - April 16, 2008 03:01 PM (GMT)
His appearance on AI results show tonight should increase his sales even more. WOO HOO!!!
But of course, the problem may be the lack of availability, which had always been difficult in my area.
Cheers to Elliottt!!!!!

Hi Sandy,
I know what you mean. I checked one of my local Target's over the weekend, and for the first time couldn't find one Elliott Yamin CD.
Here's hoping that Itunes will show a bump on whatever song Elliott decides to sing.
jamie50 - April 16, 2008 10:25 PM (GMT)
Sales update thanks to Ken:
Elliott sold 1,000, same as last week; total 504,000.

I guess Elliott honoring her mom on the results show can "count" as promotion although I'm sure he performed tonight without that thought in his mind. I'm just glad he came on TV again.
