That's great. He scores as high as anyone other than Kelly C and Carrie, and is really credited with more potential to go on and achieve more than anybody other than those two and Fantasia, the way it looks to me. Nice for him, and pretty accurate, I think.

Elliott can sing it all. The remark is right as far as Elliott singing up tempo , or soul, or the classics.. here is HOT ELLIOTT .. WOOOOOOO,, scrape me off the floor style Elliott... wooo

looks like they covered all the mjaor post-Idol successes except Pickler. Covington has had some success, as has Mandisa (what IS it about Season 5?). For the most part, Idol successes have been limited; Elliott has been very lucky indeed.

"Yamin is battling the proverbial nice-guy syndrome that threatens to keep him beneath the radar"
So they give him a C- in celebrity value, because he's a nice guy? Just something that pushed a button about Hollywood today. Elliott guess you need to talk more about booger plates. lol.
I do like that they talk about his versatility. I haven't seen anyone as versatile on AI. Not like our man.

Haven't we seen this before, it's ringing a bell because I remember the discussion about the nice-guy syndrome.

Well, I have witnessed alot of this lately.. good is bad , bad is good..
michimotto - April 4, 2008 10:00 PM (GMT)
I wonder what they mean by "artistic merit" - is it about the quality of the music put out or about the vocal capabilities only ? if it's the first I would agree with the B grade ( although I would do so compared to the industry as a whole, not the other idols)...if it's about vocals, than the mark is definetelly to low...
I don't think we should take the "nice guy" comment as a slight to Elliott. In my opinion Elliott has a well developed common sense and a wonderfull sense of humor, which together make him act as he does: with self consciouness and sometimes self irony. While he is assertive enough, again, his keen sense of the ridicule won't led him to shamess self promoting as we see so many examples today. And while we love his music, that is the reason we LOVE HIM.

You said it Taratova! As far as the nice guy image goes, I hope he never changes, this is who he is , I'm very proud of his character :elliottcap2:
elizajv - April 4, 2008 10:52 PM (GMT)
Elliott's "niceness" is winning fans all the time. Granted, getting involved in scandals would make someone known -- notorious is probably a better adjective here -- but I'd rather that Elliott's rise to fame be slower than most if he would get there on the basis of his talent and his warm personality.
MIMIC880 - April 5, 2008 09:40 AM (GMT)
The "needs to improve" categories seem like arbitrary opinions....and not just for Elliott. I pretty much agree with everything else.
artymom - April 6, 2008 12:44 AM (GMT)
Re: the 'nice guy" image....some of my very favorite celebrities are seldom in the news, never in the tabloids, and manage to live quiet, sane lives "under the radar." I doesn't seem to hurt their popularity or ability to sell a CD or a movie. For me, one of the most appealing things about Elliott is his ability to remain the same "nice" guy he always was...ready to do almost anything for a good cause, refusing to say anything bad or snarky about anyone, and not afraid to show his emotions. The world needs more "nice guys" like him and fewer of the sleaze-balls that seek out the TMZ-like media hounds. :tantrum:
Whew! I feel better now. O.K. I'm done.
SoulMusicRocks - April 6, 2008 04:54 PM (GMT)
Yes, because men who have no respect for other people and have an ego the size of the Himalayas are the "best" celebrities. This type of backwards thinking is exactly why I think the world has half of the problems it does
/End moral rant lol.
georgiafan1 - April 7, 2008 03:03 PM (GMT)
The writer appreciates Elliott's voice and style so that's the part I'm concentrating on from the article. I agree with all but one score. I'm just happy that he was included on the list and got such great scores from a widely-read national publication.

I was just telling someone the other day I think that season was my favorite one so far, with last year's coming in second.
