Title: What Type Of Tour Should Elliott Do Next?
Description: Smaller venue or a big arena?
EYaminCDaughtryfan - April 5, 2008 05:29 PM (GMT)
On Elliott's next tour, would you like to see a small venue tour(small clubs)or a big arena tour?
Linda4Elliott - April 5, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
I choose small venue, because I love the intimate settings. It would be really cool to one day see him sell out an arena, though!
EYaminCDaughtryfan - April 5, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
I haven't been able to see Elliott live yet. But I hope my first Elliott show is at a small venue. Small venues are better. I would Love to see him play at the Ohio Sate fair but he's working on his cd so I don't know if that will happen.
Jelliott - April 5, 2008 10:40 PM (GMT)
DEFINATELY small venue...i dont mean to sound selfish LOL...but its easier to meet him!!!
estrayastar - April 5, 2008 10:49 PM (GMT)
Small venue - he's easier to meet that way haha.
Hopefully he'll come back to the N Club after August, once I'm 16 and could actually go in. C:
EDIT: lol, I said basically the same thing Jelliott did. But it's true! XD

I LOVE smaller venues. Smaller venues work better for wheelchair bound people.(I'm wheelchair bound) so I know from experience. It sucks to have your view blocked by other fans. I do talk to security about it at every show I go to if I don't have front row.(I have been moved to front row so I could see :)) But I shouldn't have to go talk to security to see the stage from the seat that I bought(usually floor seats). From all my experiences, smaller venues work better because if your in a wheelchair you have to be on the floor because of stairs. At arenas, handicap seats are typically "off to the side" or in nosebleed!! BLAH to that. I WILL spend the extra money to get front row to any show I go too because I didn't pay the ticket price to see the back of the person in front of me. I want to enjoy the show too!
ETA: I like the idea of the artist being RIGHT there and feeling like I'm"part of the show" instead of watching from a distance.
Off my soap box now.

Nana2160 - April 6, 2008 02:23 AM (GMT)
I totally like the smaller venues...BUT, I am going to show my age...I prefer one that has seating availble...After the Norfolk concert, I didn't think I would ever walk again...LOL
4+ hours of steady standing did this old gal in!!! However; the Innsbrook concert had seating and I stood the entire show...Go figure!!! (There weren't 2 opening acts...before the HEADLINER tho)
I Love you Elliott no matter where you sing...Heck you probably sound awesome in the shower...LOL

I'm older than Nana, but I actually prefer the standing venues. I was at the Hagerstown show which was like a movie theatre experience and I felt so closed in. I couldn't get up and out except between acts. I like to be able to move around, dance a little, etc. It was torture to have to remain seated during Movin' On LOL.

I agree I like smaller venues as well. Like the NorVa. Harley I met you there at his concert. I was the one with the little boy. This is my 1st post maybe 2nd under another name, but I forgot what my log in was. I hope he comes back to the NorVa and Innsbrook. I just got the schedule for Innsbrook and Elliott is not listed but they only have about 5 scheduled events so far this year. This may be a slow year for the tours, with the gas prices and all. But anyway, I really like the small venues and would go to them before I would go to a larger venue.

With the National and Toads Place now open - that seems a great size venue for Richmond - I hope he stops at one of those this year myself. It's not too, too intimate, but indoor and small enough.
Edit to add - Welcome! I remember you and your son - enjoyed sharing the concert at Norva with you - glad you decided to join us!

The National
706 East Broad Street
Richmond, VA
Richmond's newest concert venue
(formerly the historic National Theater)
for directions, click here.
This is an old Movie Theater converted to a concert venue - max capacity is 1500 I believe. Many cool acts are already booked there - Jason Mraz is playing next Friday night.

ETA: I remember reading somewhere that Elliott said he would love to play the National.

I also prefer venues with available seating.
While I can think of a few benefits of attending a concert in a smaller venue like a dance/concert club (e.g., you'll have a better chance of meeting the performer, lower ticket prices, less or no money for parking, etc.), most of the concerts that I've ever attended were in large arenas. And, since I don't like standing in front of the stage during concerts--I think I'd get too tired or end up feeling claustrophobic--that has worked for me.
Plus, it's always exciting to me to look around a venue and see all the hundreds--or thousands--of people that have gathered to see a particular performer.

We've seen Elliott twice in Colorado. Once with the Idol Tour and it was good to see our guy. Then in June 2007 we saw E at the Gothic Theater (Englewood, CO) which is a smaller venue. Dude, the experience was so awesome...and BONUS - we got a picture with him...(see signature). My sister made me laugh when she should E's hand and swore she would never wash it again. :rotfl:
We totally vote for the smaller venue because of the intimate feel and the CLOSE UP of seeing Elliott. Went to a LARGE concert once and if it weren't for the Jumbo-Tron I wouldn't know if the performers were who we paid to see. The energy may be higher, but the tradeoff is less intimacy.
All we really know is that we wanna see Elliott again - AND SOON!!! :elliottelliott:

My sister SHOOK E's hand - nothing like messing up a good story.

I was able to watch Elliott at two small venues: in Minneapolis, where I was right up close to the stage, and in Orlando where I stood further back. On the fall tour when he had 2 opening acts I figured I could never stand through all of that, especially remembering how tired I was after the Minneapolis concert even if I had my husband to lean on! In Orlando we decided to wait outside and rest our feet until it got closer to the time Elliott performed. We were lucky and caught Elliott coming back from a little shopping excursion, so we got to chat with him a little while before the concert.
What I would dearly love is to attend an accoustic concert by Elliott.

Poor Me I so agree with the acoustic wish. I saw Elliott in Toronto in November and while the show was great, at times his voice was swallowed by the music. He even had them turn up his mike at one point. I don't understand why the music has to be so loud - I thought it was supposed to be an accompaniment to the voice. I've noticed this at a lot of other concerts as well and yet some are fine.
The videos from the Philippines shows were absolutely beautiful -- his voice was so clear and moving. I love being able to hear all the nuances of his voice.
My wish is for an acoustic album and tour.
