Is it wishful thinking that he'll actually PERFORM, because that website just says he'll be "on the results show". He was "on" the IGB show too - sitting in the audience.

Good point - he could be thanking everyone for the IGB donations, not performing.

well, they do always have a perfomance on results night. I'm hoping it's him. Maybe the dawg hooked this up to promote Real Love! :pray:

OMG I was just over at MJ's and I saw that, and I came right here! I'm so excited!!!

It's weird though, I never would have expected this right now. I mean, he doesn't have a current single to perform, except for his duet with Kat - yet MJ didn't mention her. What could he perform? Is he even performing at all?

I think he will definitely not just be in the audience. It's not like Idol Gives Back - for that huge show, lots of celebrities are billed and then some end up just being in the audience or being in brief video clips.

Hmmm... what could he be doing? In one of the Beatles weeks, Kat was on the results show and she performed a Beatles song. lol, they wouldn't have Elliott do a Mariah song tomorrow, would they?

It could happen, I guess...

ETA: If he performs, this will be two seasons in a row that he was invited back! They sure must love him there, to have him back each year after he left the show. :elliottcap:

Have to agree with Millie858. Don't really want to hear him sing with Kat and it wouldn't be any better with this week's mentor (Mariah Carey). Of course, NOT hearing him sing at all would be even worse.

I assume he'll be singing, and that it won't be "WFY"; and "real Love" needs Kat, or it loses its impact.

Maybe he's going to do a Mariah song? He can handle it....

He could do the duet with someone else. (if Kat is not available) That happens, sometimes, though maybe not as it is just being premiered.

They should be pimping the living daylights out of Elliott because he's the one who proved on a really massive level that Idol could launch careers even if you didn't stay with the 19/BMG/Clive machine. That gives credibility to Idol.

Hey, guys, I just got back from dress rehearsal, where it was announced that Elliott will be on the results show tomorrow night. They didn't say whether he'd be performing or not. I bet there will be a Claudette tribute.

Well I guess I will have to tread lightly in some of these threads, but I'm glad E is going to be on. Sorry but I DO hope that he and Kat will be performing the duet. It only seems logical to have them together as what other song could he be doing? Mariah will perform something from the CD and with the adds dates over the next 2 weeks it seems logical for it to be the duet. I'm not sure where Kat is but I believe back in LA so who knows.

Frankly, the duet with Kat only makes sense - Randy has a vested interest in this single release and this would be the time to debut it.

I don't care who he sings with - alone, or not - the important thing is he will be visible, he will be heard and it will create that "buzz" - all good things!

Hi KatfanBill, I'm very familiar with all your posts on IDF and AI boards (Uplink2). I'm an Elliott fan but I've always liked Kat and I like to keep up with her news too as with other idols (hint: has everyone check out Ace's Addicted on iTunes?). I would love to see them performing Real Love on the show. It would be great promotion for their song and I so desperately want that song to do well for both their sakes.

KatfanBill, a question for you. If Kat were to perform tomorrow night, would she let her fans know ahead of time? (like Elliott did to his fans) Just curious.

Well, I'm not KatFanBill, but to my knowledge, Katharine's been pretty diligent about informing her fans about stuff like this.


I think it'd be kind of strange (and dumb) if Elliott were on performing and it were *not* "Real Love" and not with her, I must say. With that song coming out, getting exposure for it can only help Randy, the two AI alums, and the franchise. But I guess they haven't heard anything.

If Elliott is performing on the Results show, that'll be the first time any returning Idol has done it live. They taped Jordin, Kat's etc. performances a week in advance and then show them. So I'm confused but excited.

Pickles performed last year and this year but she was also signed by 19E. I do believe Elliott is the only non-signed to appear twice. I had also read somewhere that his current contract calls for a second CD.

Well, I think that he said sometime last year that he'd been approached before the first album came out, when they realized that it was good and would be saleable, but I missed anything he's said lately. The Simon Fuller mention is interesting. Not surprising, I guess. Any idea exactly when he said this? I obviously missed it.

Maybe I somehow missed it. They really have featured very few alums so heavily, I must say. I wonder if some of them turn them down. Hard to imagine, I guess.

Actually that's not true in Kat's case at least. They taped the call in and Kat performance segment just before the live results show. It was done the same day mainly to screen the call ins I'm sure. I would expect this to be done the same way. He will probably tape his performance just before they do the live show. Mariah will be live I bet but if he sings in the segment with the call ins it will be on tape from earlier that day.

Sony BMG wanted to "revisit" Elliott after his CD sold 92K copies that first week, and especially (I'm sure) after WFY took off. That doesn't necessarily imply 19E. Elliott's deal with Sony ATV precluded any involvement by the main arm of BMG; he still has a second CD due on that deal. I'm assuming they could renegotiate. Most Indie artists have to sell well before any major label will take another look; deals are far more complex and esoteric these days, however. Money spread all around. Elliott has sold more than msot indie artists; he is technically "platinum" with combined sales of the main CD, the Christmas CD, and his single(s).
