Title: Elliott Quoted In Vibe Magazine

vanbrew - April 17, 2008 01:04 PM (GMT)
In the May 2008 issue of Vibe magazine, there is an article on the waning influence of American Idol and the lack of chart success for some of the show's alums. Elliott is quoted. Following are some excerpts from the article:

Chart success hasn't eluded all Idol contestants. Chris Daughtry, third runner-up in Hicks' season, had Billboard's top-selling album of 2007. And Elliott Yamin, who placed just ahead of Daughtry, had the biggest debut for an independent artist in SoundScan history with his self-titled album. So what makes some Idol contestants flourish and others fail? Ironically, the biggest determiner of success is still an old-school platform: radio. "What Chris Daughtry and I had were hit radio singles, which is something Taylor and [season 5 runner-up] Kat [McPhee] unfortunately didn't have," says Yamin. "The show puts you out there and gets you in front of the audience, but radio has been very kind to me. And let's be honest, radio drives record sales." ... "I've met a lot of people on the road who had never seen me and never seen the show, but they heard my song on the radio," says Yamin. "They liked the song enough to become part of my audience.'"

I love it that Vibe keeps periodically mentioning him. That's such good exposure.

This is great - seems he's being considered a valid success, and the quotes keep the buzz going. Great quote by the way Elliott!!

He is so WISE beyond his experiences. I mean, for someone who is relatively new at all this, he acts and speaks as though he's been a star for light years!

Let's not forget that he worked at a radio station (right?) So he knows the inner workings..

Yes, he did work at a radio station. My thoughts are, Elliott may not ever be a hughly popular Top 40 artist, but all signs point to Elliott's talent being well respected among those in the music business. Lets hope he has more Top 40 hits to pay the bills and live comfortably, but the respect of your peers-priceless!

I love this. I think this shows that E knows that the secret to sales is radio. This points that the team will most probably be pushing his first single very aggresively to Top 40 radio once it is released.
