He recorded that song for the Disney movie Aladdin. It is on the deluxe edition of the movie;) And yes, that is TOTALLY his niche!
It was hard to make..to get photos that fit the words. I tried my best;)

Yellin, I could see how much heart you put into this. It was so very touching. Perfect choice of music, and the pictures so went along with the words as they were sung. BEAUTIFUL!!!
If I can stop crying I'll watch it again. Thinking of my departed Mom and my brother singing it to her. Beautiful song.

Great video Deb....
I have turned into a blubbering mess so many times in the past few weeks and you just made me do it again.
yellin4yamin - April 18, 2008 05:51 PM (GMT)
awwwwww you are all the BESTEST!!! Sorry, I guess I should have shelled out the supply of tissues for you guys. I thought it was absolutely the perfect song to celebrate how every son must feel at some point in their life. Young Elliott had his struggles, but in the end he found his way, and thank the Lord that Claudette was there to see it. Every mom is proud of their kids no matter what, but not many can brag and boast, that they raised such an absolutely beautiful, genuine soul. I am so glad you guys liked it, cause I was a little worried!
xo
number1elliottfan - April 18, 2008 09:09 PM (GMT)
A beautiful tribute, thank you. Certainly a tissue moment, or Claudette might say " I'm verklempted."
Hope it's ok, I added it to my myspace page.
penni - April 18, 2008 11:51 PM (GMT)
Wow, Yellin. that was the most beautiful, tender, touching video. Perfect song and you choose great shots and put it together perfectly. It was nice to see the early pictures and remember Elliott's journey -- with Claudette so so proud. Yes, she knew that her son was amazing. And as Elliott said, she is still watching over him.
Pride and sorrow what a mix ... yes, a tearjerker, indeed.
Thank you ...
yellin4yamin - April 19, 2008 12:05 AM (GMT)
ty so much;) I did work really hard on it, and I really do wish I knew how to upload video footage, but my video maker isn't advanced enough. I can upload video that I took with my own camera, but not footage from like a show/movie etc. I love those videos that can, so it is much harder to tell a story with photos only, and I sometimes fear they will be too "boring" or that they don't come across like I want them to in my mind, but I really did the best I could! xo
sdmom - April 19, 2008 12:16 AM (GMT)
That was beautiful! Took my mind off my toothache.

Thanks, Yellin -- I posted a comment on YouTube with a little history of that song. I have a CD box set, "The Music Behind the Magic," which includes an entire CD of the original score for Aladdin. The composer and lyricist scored the entire movie, then the story was rewritten (in the original version, Aladdin had a mother and three buddies, and there was a "bad genie," too) and they ditched almost every song. The CD features the demo versions of those songs, played and sung by Alan Mencken and Howard Ashman (also responsible for the soundtracks of "The Little Mermaid" and "Beauty and the Beast"). What's really poignant is hearing Howard Ashman sing "Proud of Your Boy." This was his last project, as he was losing his battle with AIDS.
In 2004, Disney contracted with Clay Aiken to record this as a music video for the DVD release of the movie.
If you're a fan of Disney music or just the creative process of music composition, this collection is amazing. Don't get it confused with the 2006 2-CD set of the same name; this is a box set of 4 CDs and a book that was released in 1994. The book is incredibly detailed and this set is a real treasure for me.

Love the video you made and the use of the song...I keep going back to watch it! Elliott's relationship with his mom was great inspiration.
