Title: Yahoo Story - Idol Success Stories
Description: Elliott included, but not Kat or Taylor

janetlynn - April 21, 2008 08:22 PM (GMT)
I hope this hasn't been posted already. There's a Yahoo story about Idol success stories and Elliott is included!

Funny, though. There's no mention of Kat or Taylor. :rotfl:

QUOTE
Elliot Yamin had a good strong run on "American Idol" Season 5, even beating out supposed frontrunner Chris Daughtry in one of the tightest "Idol" races ever. After his respectable third-place finish, he signed to an indie label, Hickory Records, which might have made some doubters assume he would fade into obscurity like some other inadequately promoted also-rans. But on the contrary, his self-titled first album debuted at #3 on "Billboard's" top 200 and sold 90,000 copies in its first week, making it the highest debut for an independent artist in SoundScan history. The album soon went gold, and was the third-best-selling independent album of 2007. Sadly, Elliott's mother passed away recently, but it's a wonderful thing that she lived to witness her son's amazing post-"Idol" success.

:bunny:  For Elliott getting a mention! And a nice mention at that..

I'm not surprised the other two weren't mentioned, though I do hope Taylor rebounds...saw him in concert and he was amazing.

Love it!! Thanks, janetlynn :)

This mention is great - my daughter was just saying the same thing about Claudette getting to enjoy his success - how I wish she could have enjoyed it longer.

I loved that article. :awe: Too bad about Kat and Taylor. Where was Tasia too...I think she's a success? Thanks for finding that.

I would think that Fantasia would be considered more of a success than Kat or Taylor. She did star on Broadway in a very successful run, however I remember reading that she did have some issues. Maybe they held that against her.

I love the picture they chose from the ASPAC event.

Taylor and Kat appear to have been mishandled from the start (deliberately?).

Elliott proved that 3rd placers -- never the strongest slot on Idol -- could have success. He and Kim Locke are the exceptions.

I can see Taylor being mishandled delibately, it was no secret they didn't like him. I can't speak at all on Kat cause I didn't follow it that closely..

I think Elliott proved to alot of people...that they can over come alot and succeed.

TPTB seemed to have never liked Taylor both on the show and personally, since they keep dissing him and ignoring him.

Elliott on the other hand, they seem to not have liked on the show because they did not think he would have made a good winner. But personally, they seem to really love him, as they keep inviting him back on AI. They've invited him back more than any other AI5 alum, as he's been back 3 different times.

Very cool! Thanks so much for sharing it & WELCOME to Etrain!

I love the picture they used!

I saw the title of the article when I opened Firefox (Yahoo is my default page) and I KNEW that Elliott was included in the article :P

Very gratifying to see that. What a weird season 5 was. Yahoo identifies four successes from that season but doesn't include the wiiner and runner up. Is there any Idol season where that has ever or will ever happen again?

I don't think Taylor and Kat were mishandled deliberately. I think they both had sales issues from the beginning. Elliott is the suprise success (not to us of course).

On the Yahoo home page, they have pictures of the "12 Idol Success Stories".

1. Carrie Underwood
2. Daughtry
3. Clay Aiken
4. Elliott Yamiin
5. Jen Hudson
6. Kelly Clarkson
7. Kellie Pickler
8. Josh Gracin
9. Ruben
10. Kim Locke
11. Bucky Covington

But I don't know who the 12th is........

Anyway, noticeably missing was Fantasia..........and look how many Season 5er's there are: 4. And none are the winner or runner up......

I'll take that..........but he should have been his magical # 3.......Ha

terriberriez - April 22, 2008 11:26 AM (GMT)
I'm so glad to see Ruben up there! I feel that he doesn't get the credit that's deserved. :( Fantasia should be higher than #12 (assuming she made the list) and I'm soooo glad Elliott made the list! He's number 1 in my book!!!!!

And not to mention that his 2nd album will be the BOMB!!!! If Elliott collaborates with Timbaland, I would just die.

Because season 5 has always been the best season. The show peaked that season and went downhill since Sanjaya left the show.
