Next week, America will choose it's seventh American Idol. Our money is on David. But seriously folks, the tension is mounting! All season long, David Archuleta has been the presumptive champion. That angelic voice, that joyful smile, that aw-shucks demeanor; what more could tween America want? Nobody could have predicted that a mysterious rocker with 5 o'clock shadow would sidle up and threaten Archie's crown, and yet that's exacly what happened. Even oddmaker's who favored Archuleta all season are changing their tune to David Cook. BetCRIS.com has predicted the following shacking odds: Odds that David Archuleta will win: 43/20 or 32% chance of winning and odds that David Cook will win 20/57 or 74% chance of winning. The oddsmakers at bodoglife.com agree that Archuleta has gone from top dog to underdog. David Archuleta +160 David Cook -230. Nsawin.com also places Cook in the lead. Bet365.com now list David cook at 4/11 while David the Younger stands at 2 to 1. This is as of 3:15 PM P.T. May 16,2008 from Stephanie Lysaght of The L.A. Times. But then another article as of May 17, 2008 says "Odds Gives Archuleta The Edge To Win American Idol" Las Vegas Chatterbox- According to the odds over at the Wynn Las Vegas Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, David Archuleta is the favorite to win American Idol over David Cook. The odds for the 17 year old from Utah stand at 5:6, meaning the odds are less than even money. For David Cook, he even-money odds, 1:1. The American Idol finale is set to take place this coming Tuesday night and should be one of the biggest nights on TV this year. It should be interesting to see if the odds change at all as the finale gets closer and closer by the day. It will either be David Archuleta or David Cook named the true American Idol. if you ask Vegas, it is clear as of right now the favorite to win is Archuleta. So one article has it for David Cook and the other has it for David Archuleta. I guess you just never know who will win? "As I say may the best David win"! From the begining of the top 10 I have always loved David Archuleta so I do think David Archuleta should win! Is anyone a little concerned about how the winner will be sold out? Look what happened to Taylor. To me, Taylor is a much better "live concert" performer rather than a studio performer. I do think that both of the Davids are studio performers...so maybe they will be sold in the right way...I guess only time will tell...I know one thing Elliott is both so he is the best!! :1word:

When the season started, I assumed Archuleta would win. He had the automatic fanbase, the tweens, the teens, the granny vote, the doting mothers, various blogs, and the media behind him.

However, he has not exceeded and upped his game since arriving, and - worse - appears static.

David Cook HAS improved week to week, showed HIS game, proven his worth and his skills. I didn't think he had it in him, assuming he was a Daughtry wannabee, and would be out of there by week 5.

However, he appears to be a solid live and studio performer, and his chances of winning it all are solid.

I know I prefer Cook at this point. Will the one who has improved week-to-week, and who is the more solid performer, win? Or will the Angels save Archie? We'll know Wednesday night.

It is sort of a Daughtry style vs. an Elliott style .

I am just floored at the judges always saying not to forget the lyrics, and this year, Brooke was applauded for it and David A did it more than once...then there was Jason too. The judges pushed their choices each week as always to keep it interesting.
I don't see Cook as Daughtry-like in any way. He is way more versitle and has his own sound. Daughtry sounds like all the other bands out there (Nickleback).I DO like David A very much but he will do alright after idol. Cook deserves the win.

I just love Cook's style. I listen to his AI performances and then the studio version, he's got it all. He doesn't look so mean when he performs like Daughtry. LOL I love to watch him perform, to me he's got it all. Even Archie felt he wasn't worthy to share the stage with Cook. :)

I believe Cook will be able to negotiate what he records much like Daughtry did. Just a feeling.

He didn't Daughtry. Besides, thought he was out of the picture. Cook is a good songwriter from what I understand. I've listened to Analog Heart, his CD he put out himself in 2006, I'm thinking that may be what he goes for. Like Randy said, Cook has already shown people the artist that he is.

I prefer David Archuletta's voice over Cook, but it doesn't matter to me who wins. I think they both have great futures ahead of them.

Cook is a softer version of Daughtry. Archuleta has the style of Elliott. Different tone but same type style of singing. Has patterns and phrasing like Elliott. That is why Elliott likes David A.. he has similar voice patterns and runs.

yes , Cook will win. His style is more today but not necessarily better. Music is more muted ,which is pushed on radio, not up front vocals .

Elliott said in a recent radio interview that his favorite was David Cook, at least that's what I heard. When asked who would win, he said David A.

Sorry but Cook is not like Daughtry. He's better. Daughtry can't sing "Music of the Night" I bet. :) Elliott said that that was an awesome vocal that night.

Yes David Cook is better. I get tired of listening to Daughtry. So far, I never get tired of listening to David Cook--he has an incredible range--something Daughtry can not match. I much prefer emo rock over shouting rock

David Cook should be the winner. I cannot wait to hear a CD from him.

well, imo, he was just being the humble kid he is. They both have worked very hard to be standing in the final 2.

It all boils down to a matter of preference.
We ALL THINK THAT ELLIOTT IS THE BOMB but you know what?

I'd personally like to see Archuleta win, but because I know Cook is going to be successful no matter what.

I agree Chatty, but I can't say much as I was definitely one to knock another contestant. Though I try not too anymore.

But I agree I like them both equally and think they are both superb.

I like them both. Archuleta is more my style to listen to. Cook will probably win. I am not voting. My votes won't make a difference because they are both winners. like apples and oranges,, they are both good. It is a matter of taste.

I agree that they are both good singers. I doubt if I will wait with eager anticipation for either one of their albums. They just don't "do it for me like that", not like Elliott and Melinda do. I have always been so confident in my favorite two that I always knew that whatever they sing, I will love it. I don't have that confidence for any others. Melinda's album won't be too long, now! :hooray:

I am hoping David Cook wins. He certainly deserves it over David Archuletta. Each week he brings something new to the show and while David A has a fantastic voice, I find him rather boring. Can't wait for tonight!
