Former 'Idol' Contestant Luke Menard Has Hodgkin's Lymphoma
Wednesday, May 21, 2008
Former "American Idol" contestant Luke Menard has stage II Hodgkin's lymphoma, a representative for the singer's a capella group Chapter 6 confirmed for FOXNews.com.
"The prognosis is good — it's one of the most treatable cancers, he's in phenomenal shape and has a great marriage, an amazing family, a very strong faith and such a great spirit," the rep said.
According to mayoclinic.com, as many as 95 percent of people with stage I or stage II Hodgkin's disease survive for five years or more with proper treatment.
The 29-year-old Indiana singer's illness was first reported by VoteForTheWorst.com. The Web site suggests fans send a message to Menard via his MySpace page.
Menard made it to the top 16 on this season of "American Idol." He was voted off the show on March 6.
I heard about that! He seems like such a sweet guy; so sad he has to go through this, but at least it's pretty cureable!
I was sad to hear that he has it but thankfully the survival rate is good. Praying for him, like Luke a lot.
Here is a link to a blog where Luke writes about his treatment and working with his Nashville manager to put out an album in the Christian music genre.
