I can say in retrospect that the song's continuing interest doesn't surprise me, but frankly I never would have imagined the lasting impact of the song.
Just goes to show that you never really can tell which song from an album will capture the imagination of an audience. It's moving on to classic status! and of course Elliott's emphatic vocals have everything to do with it.

I have always loved this video. I tried to analyse what makes it so appealing (other than Elliott's voice, of course) and I've come to the conclusion that the director knew his stuff. He went back and forth between the gritty, cool reality of the apartment , the back street, the black and white segment and then interspersed it with that colorful microphone scene with the warm red background and finally, that gorgeous sunset lit beach. Elliott's acting ability and the lyrics of the song are what really bring it all together. Whew! Maybe I should be teaching a class in video making. LOL! I read somewhere they shot it all in one day on a low budget. So much for money making the difference. All I have left to say is....:ilikeit:
