Description: Also Pulling Duty as Award Presenter
Sk8888 - June 6, 2008 08:53 PM (GMT)
It looks like Elliott might be in San Francisco this weekend to meet the winner of the Diabetes Creative Expression Competiton.
Nan posted Melissa Ruggieri's article that mentioned this too. The link below contains the text of the winning entry.

I wish!
So close, and yet so far.
This is Little League tournament weekend for me, and I'm booked. (We won this afternoon, 9-8, with two outs in the last inning.) So, we're back at it again tomorrow.
But, we stopped at Jamba Juice afterwards, and I had to stop my sentence. It was Elliott singing "Allright," one of my favorites from his CD. The person helping us said it was from corporate.
So, that my made day, and our win!
Hope someone else gets to see him, or we hear a news story we can pass along.

lucky you! what does "from corporate" mean?
TxRangerette - June 8, 2008 07:07 PM (GMT)
^^It means that the corporate office in the bay area (Emeryville) provides or selects the music that gets piped in all the Jamba stores.
I also posted about JJ here:

MY IDOL ELLIOTT - June 8, 2008 11:22 PM (GMT)
HI Y'all, I was doing some looking around and I went on to Pier 39 Web Site and this is what I found out about Diabetes Events this weekend I know its kind of late, but better late them never right? Here it is Changing Diabetes Bus and Village World Tour Friday June 6, 2008 to Sunday June 8, 2008 11:00 AM TO 7: 00 PM Novo Nordisk's Changing Diabetes Bus and Village World Tour is visiting Pier 39 East Park Jun 6-8. The three-day event features a mobile Diabetes showroom and interactive Diabetes village offering free Diabetes education, activities and giveaways to area residents. ABC's "Dancing with the Stars champion Drew Lachey will host the official ceremony on Saturday june 7th at 11:00 AM., along with local celebrity and fitness guru Joanie Greggains. Visitors can take part in free health screenings, exercise and fitness demostrations, and interactive games to encourage movement. Free healthy snacks will be provited. Children at the event are invited to participate in kid's activity tent, complete with drawing and fun, age-appropiate interactive games such as Dance Dance Revolution, Wii Tennis and Boogie Bodies. Tourists, San Francisco rsidents and faniles living with, at risk of or affected by Diabetes are encouraged to attend. The event is open to the public from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily. Admission is free. This does not mention anything abut Elliott Yamin being there? I do hope may be just maybe someone has some real good information and recaps and pictures? If I would of known earlyer last week I would of tryed to find out where Elliott was going to be and went to meet him because its rare that Elliott comes to the Bay Area? If this event would of been posted on his Myspace Page of on the Etrain then we would of known about this event, but the very next chance I get to meet Elliott I'm going to! :1word: :elliottelliott: :elliottcap: :chloe: 4 LIFE!!!
Linda4Elliott - June 9, 2008 01:42 AM (GMT)
ineresting info there, Ty! Maybe the Eli Lilly event was a part of this whole weekend of diabetes related activities. It would be great if we are able to locate some pictures :)

Wow, what a great win! I hope they won today as well!
There was no way I could go, either. I've been sick for a week and a half and it seems like any time I exert any energy I relapse. I'm sick of being sick! I'm trying to get better so I don't miss too much work. Perhaps I'll go get a healthy Jamba Juice and hear Elliott....
;)
Hopefully we'll hear something.

I didn't see anything posted in the local news about Elliott being in SF over the weekend, but I've got some feelers out.
BTW, we're off to the league championship game next Sunday, after winning by a score of 2-1 yesterday. We watched Field of Dreams after the exciting win and had a baseball filled weekend.
(Am I the only one who crys watching this movie? It gets me EVERY time.)

News on this weekend:
http://www.diabetesmine.com/2008/06/ada-co...ence-views.html * All four of the Inspired by Diabetes contest winners were announced and on-hand at the Eli Lilly booth for photos and shmoozing, accompanied by super-D-crooner himself Elliott Yamin. (Lots of the male docs seemed to have no idea who he was, but lots of the ladies showed up for autographs “for the kids”). More about the truly inspirational winners here soon.

I met Elliott Yamin — live and in person this time. No star attitude at all… just one great dude!Scroll down to about midpage for the picture.

Congrats on the winning weekend Sk8888! How exciting!
No, you are not the only one who cries at Field of Dreams. Just the music alone gives me goosebumps.
Klo, thank you so much for the article!
Hmmmm....I have no children, so I guess I would have to just quickly "adopt" the nearest kid and get in line!

Thanks Klo!
Funniest part was where the blogger mentioned how all the women seemed to know who Elliott was, while the guys just shrugged in confusion.

Thanks Klo, for the link! Elliott looks so cute in any hat doesn't he? I got a kick out of the autographs "for the kids" too. Wish I could have attended the conference. I'm only an hour away. Sigh.
And yes, I cry at "Fields of Dreams" too Wee, but then I cry at the drop of a hat so I'm not sure that counts.LOL. I'm just a big moosh when it domes to music and movies. And don't get me started on Elliott's music. *Tearing up now*
itslate - June 11, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
Thanks so much klo and Sk8888 for the info. I love reading about all the new technology too. I hope some day they find a cure.
And Yes, Field of Dreams is one of my absolute favorite movies... I cry... and shhhhhhhh, so does my hubby :)
