2007 UU-BRU Internet Radio Archives
TOP SINGLE OF 2007
ELLIOTT YAMIN
"Wait For You"
Elliott Yamin emerged as a major superstar on UU-BRU Internet Radio in 2007 following his third place run on AMERICAN IDOL 5 in 2006. His first album, released in March 2007, yielded four number one hits, a new benchmark for debut albums. With five songs within the year end Top 40 including the biggest hit of the year, "Wait For You", Elliott Yamin scored the most total points during a calendar year by any male act on UU-BRU Internet Radio since 1978 and the second most overall only to Whitney Houston's blockbuster year following THE BODYGUARD (1993). Nearly one third of the year's forty biggest hits were by AMERICAN IDOL alumni, including Chris Daughtry, who had the year's longest running number one song with the latest AMERICAN IDOL departure theme, "Home", at eight weeks (#3) and AMERICAN IDOL 5 champion Taylor Hicks with three hits within the year end Top 40 for a second consecutive year (#6, #17, #24). Big & Rich became the first act to earn Top Group honors for three consecutive years and also placed a song in the year end top ten for a fourth year in a row, a feat matched only by Whitney Houston (1985-1988). Big & Rich settled for the runner up position with "Lost In This Moment" (#2), matching their best year end rank (2004). The Top Female Artist of 2007 was also the year's most successful new act. Corinne Bailey Rae released her self titled debut album in 2006, producing several hit singles in 2007 including her first number one song, "Like A Star" (#9). Olivia Newton-John's duet with Jon Secada, "Everytime It Snows" (#36), earned the highest year end ranking for any Christmas single to date on UU-BRU Internet Radio. Several other veteran acts from the 1970's also scored big hits in 2007 including Billy Joel (#15), The Eagles (#18), Kenny Loggins (#19), Barry Manilow (#21) and Diana Ross (#31).
