Title: Mtv Blog Slights Elliott
Description: Fans Let Blogger Know!

Sk8888 - June 13, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
There's an MTV Blog where the writer is attempting to present an article about the trials and tribulations of AI's third place finishers. The poor representation of Elliott's time after AI is being nicely refuted:

http://newsroom.mtv.com/2008/06/12/syesha-...be-your-future/

I was about to comment, but I think my sentiments are well represented in what other's have already taken the time to post. Thanks!

Thanks SK...I read this article yesterday and decided not to comment as the first few comments summed it up well. Just went back and read the others, and Yes, All seems to be covered.

Same here. I was outraged when I read this yesterday. Glad to see so many positive comments have been posted.

LMAO. okay this writer loses all credibility when he says Jasmine Trias is one of the most successful third place finishers. After I read that, there was no need to continue to kill my brain cells reading this................rubbish. :)

KittyloverforElliott - June 14, 2008 12:59 AM (GMT)
I was so proud of all the wonderful fans who wrote to correct what the blogger had to say.

onlyforelliott - June 14, 2008 01:54 AM (GMT)
I had advance warning since I learned of it through this thread, but I thought it was funny. I still do. :) Since I don't visit that site and haven't read any other blogs there, I don't know if that or other blogs published there are intended to be taken seriously or as a spoof. I took it to be a spoof since anyone who has paid any attention to pop music over the past year should be well aware of how successful Elliott has been. I wonder if the intention of the author was to generate more hits to the site, or perhaps to liven up the blog by provoking fans of Elliott and the other 3rd place finishers.

Linda4Elliott - June 14, 2008 02:16 AM (GMT)
well, the blog is MTV Newsroom and some of the listings on the sidebar are legit news items. Just a shame some people may click on this piece as a news item and find such rubbish.

Linda,

After I read your post, I went back to the site and read not only that blog but some of the others listed over the past several days. While the sidebar pertains to news items, the blog itself is a commentary regarding those items. The whole tone of the commentary was negative. I guess that's why I found it amusing that the most negative thing about Elliott was that he broke his finger 2 years ago.

Judging by how many of the other blog entries had zero comments, I judge the importance to also be close to zero. There were also many good comments about Elliott, Kimberly, and Melinda (possibly the others too, but those are the ones I remember).

Linda4Elliott - June 14, 2008 06:09 AM (GMT)
You are right, Mar. I'm sure this is fairly insignificant blog, and certainly not newsworthy. My feathers tend to get a little ruffled when I feel like someone is attempting to belittle Elliott.

ohioguy45780 - June 14, 2008 12:16 PM (GMT)
some commenters want to be "cool" and belittle ANYTHING related to 'American Idol". It's as if these kids really don't have any talent and should NOT be considered legitimate. I'll take Clarkson, Underrwood, Daughtry, Sparks, Cook, and Yamin over the likes of some of MTV's "stars" anyday. MTV has made stars of the likes of Vanilla Ice, MCHammer, Milli Vanilli, the Simpson siters, and a bunch of questionable talent over the years. Tell me who the better singers are comparatively, please.

yellin4yamin - June 14, 2008 12:44 PM (GMT)
Oh I posted there alright...although I don't see it up there yet..lol;) Ignorance is bliss I guess. It is all good because we know the truth, along with the other 150,000 people on his myspace, and the countless others that support him and have bought his music. I guess if your not singing songs about lickin' lollipops, or "gettin' low" you don't count on MTV anyway....*sigh*

loll, i love how everyone was up in arms for elliott here. the writer clearly should be made to put his palms up and ruler slapped. i wonder why this was even allowed to be posted at all. aren't there editors for this kind of thing?

imthesame - June 14, 2008 02:58 PM (GMT)
This is having a great response - I do think it was written to be humorous, but without the responses some might not know the real truth, so good for the responders.

Tenorguy - June 15, 2008 07:20 AM (GMT)
I just had to take a look at that "expose". How tired and how inaccurate.

Elliott's fans are the best, and we really do not need to worry; MTV hasn't been relevant to the music scene for quite some time!

this is true. MTV lost its relevance ages ago. It should be called the "Reality TV Network".... it's all they do, really.

Actually, so far Jasmine Trias *is* one of the most successful third-placers, isn't she? I mean, it's kind of "compared to what" situation, isn't it?

Season one -- Nikki -Nowhere; Season Four -- Vonzell -- Nowhere; Season Six -- Melinda -- Nowhere so far although she hasn't had that much time to get started.

But Season Two -- Kim Locke -- doing pretty well, sustains a career, lots of radio play, first album sold pretty well; Season Three -- Jasmine -- became pretty famous in the Phillippines, album sold relatively well there; Season Five -- Elliott -- doing extremely well.

Seems to me that Jasmine is the third most successful -- i.e., in the top group so far.

Not that this makes the article as a whole any less suspect, of course!

I've never even heard Jasmine Trias on radio here in the Philippines. I've never even seen her album in stores. She gained fame here a few years back because she's Filipino, but that's it. I have no idea where the writer got the impression that she was huge here, because she's not.

True, but the writer seemed very biased and I'm going by this paragraph.

Remember season two’s Kimberly Locke? Well, after “Idol,” she became a plus-size model, participated in a season of “Celebrity Fit Club” and later put her business administration in marketing degree to good use by opening the Croton Creek Steakhouse and Wine Bar in Croton Falls, New York. Season three’s Jasmine Soriano Trias may be the one true success story. She’s released two records and has a tremendous following among Filipinos. What David Hasselhoff is to Germany, Trias is to the Philippines.

LMAO. I've seen K. Lo much more than Trias so I would definitely rank K. Lo over Trias as far as post-Idol success. I've seen Trias as much as I've seen Vonzell and I liked Vonzell much better.

I completely agree. I saw a number for her album sales, once, though, and she did have some. She's definitely way behind Kim for success, but even though I like Vonzell much much better (and in some ways Nikki, even), she's still sold more albums than they have, strange as it seems. Third place hasn't exactly been a barnburner. Nobody but Elliott has done really well (no surprise there, of course)

yammerin2 - June 16, 2008 03:43 AM (GMT)
Really a very ignorant article. It's as if it was written with no factual information past the end of 2006. Ridiculous.

Thankfully it is insignificant.

But the blog came up on a Google alert, and some people give bloggers the same credibility as news reporters.

Again, I think the comments that outlined Elliott's success and busy schedule since leaving AI, were well done. A lot more thoughtful than the blogger's comments to be sure.

Did he even do any research? Heck I couldn't even remember which one was Jasmine!
