I didn't realize it was on tonight. I'll try to catch it. It looks like they brought back last yr's crew with Jerry Springer hosting.

Almost time..........
This show is so versital; I think that is why I like it.
AvivaDove - June 18, 2008 03:09 AM (GMT)
Oh My Gosh! This guy will be competition for opera singer, Paul Potts.
AvivaDove - June 18, 2008 04:37 PM (GMT)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVrAIPuFLhMNeal E. Boyd His devotion to his mother reminded me of Elliott
realitymom - June 18, 2008 04:55 PM (GMT)
It was a good episode, tho I would have enjoyed seeing more of the acts that made it through. vs. the ones that didn't. The 17 y/o baton twirler was amazing, as was the opera singer. This should be a really good season!
AvivaDove - June 23, 2008 02:09 PM (GMT)
My friend knows the Jonathan Burkin, the baton twirler. She's baton twirler/50 year old lawyer. She said he and his mother are super nice. She said we ain't seen nothin yet. This kid has lots of super moves to show us. She was upset that they played up that kids called him names.

Who watched last night? Isn't that little boy who sang "Ben" adorable? Not just adorable, he can sing, too!
http://community.tvguide.com/blog/TV-Show-...alent/800069617David Militello - The 9-year-old was diagnosed with autism at two months and suffered from the ailment until he was three years old (his bus driver reported back to his mother that David sang on the way to school). Now he's performing on stage. He sings the Jackson Five's classic Ben. How cute! He's good, too. He tells Piers, "I'm going to have to think about that one" when asked what he'll sing next if they send him through. And he is sent through. And the crowd erupts!

Awwwww, I watched last night. That lil fella had me in a puddle of tears. He is absolutely adorable! I also enjoyed the girl cloggers. They were amazing!

^^This is the first time that I've actually followed the show. How many do they keep as front runners?

Who is Sanotria? Is he the one who sang the Sinatra song? Loved him, too!
AvivaDove - July 8, 2008 02:22 PM (GMT)
The Elvis and Sinatra impersonators were fantastic, but that's all they do. Last year's winner, Terry Fator perfectly impersonates hundreds of singers, young, not so young, male, female, black, whilte, all kinds of genres. He does it all through puppets , while not moving his mouth. Now, that's worth a million dollars!
What I liked about David Militello, the autistic boy, was that he rinded me of my daughter. She also has autism. I never thought she would speak. I'm a doll collector. Her first word at almost two was doll, soon followed by all of the names of my dolls, then, came mommy and daddy. At 9 and a half, she knows more about dolls than most adult collectors. She's a straight A student at school.
She's also an American Idol/America's Got Talent/ Elliott fan/expert.
When we saw Elliott in Delaware and on the steet at midnight after the Philly concert, Elliott didn't know she was autistic. He just saw a kid fan. He was so nice to my daughter. In Delaware, she nervously told him he was her favorite singer ever. He high fived her. In Philly, he was about to go inside. Then, he saw her and posed for a picture. She has a near photographic memory. She's been talking about those encounters for over a year. She wrote a story for school. She put his picture on her school poster. She did her Hebrew school report on Elliott and used the picture from Philly.
I'm eternally grateful to Elliott for the kindness he showed my daughter. I can see that young David's parents are eternally grateful to the producers of America's Got Talent for being so nice to their son.
TxRangerette - July 9, 2008 02:46 AM (GMT)
^^Did you post that picture somewhere on the board? It's always refreshing to hear these kinds of stories! So happy for your daughter!
So, did any of you watch tonight's episode? Who did you like? The Chinese girl was pretty good. I would like to hear another song from the R&B wedding singer.

wonderful story Helene, just wonderful! Your kids are precious :) Elliott has a good heart.

Awesome story aviva!!
Oh yeah, I LOVE Kyle(I think that is his name?), the 36 y/o R&B singer. So did my girls. I had to rewind his performance of Ain't Too Proud to Beg at least 5 times!! I was SOOO praying he would be good, since he & his mom had already stolen my heart. Then when he sang, I whoooped out loud & started singing along. I hope he goes all the way to the finals!!
AvivaDove - July 13, 2008 12:59 PM (GMT)
I missed America's Got Talent for the first time ever. We went to see Terry Fator in Lancaster, PA. He was awesome! We saw him in November in Atlantic City, but our son was too young for that venue. Like last time, Terry stayed afterwards to sign autographs, take pictures and meet and greet the fans. He was so very nice. During the show, he encouraged pictures and videos. Check him out on youtube. It's hillarious when he transforms a male audience member into Cher. At the end of the show, Winston the Impersonating Turtle looked at the audience and sincerely said that he loved us all very much. It's hard to believe that those puppets aren't real.
Terry was just signed to a 5 year multi million dollar contract at the Mirage in Las Vegas. He'll be touring around the country for the rest of the year. If you can see him in Vegas or near you, go. You'll never forget it!
http://www.terryfator.com We taped America's Got Talent. I loved Kyle Rifkin! Of course the mother/ son story reminded me of Claudette and Elliott.
AvivaDove - July 16, 2008 04:34 AM (GMT)
The last guy tonight was great. He really won over the audience. I notice this year, they're really playing up the back stories of poverty, disabilities, bullying ,tragedies, etc...
I hate go back to AI5, but they never played up Elliott's story. We saw right away that he was a sensitive, emotional guy who was close to his mother. We learned about his diabetes, but they never played it up. They spent alot of time playing up Kellie's back story. They rarely show cased Elliott in any way. Somehow, inspite of all that, Elliott's voice, personality and his mother won us over.
So, does America's Got Talent really have to tell us so much about the contestants? I think that sometimes, they over do it.

Thanks Aviva for posting that website.
He is really amazing and so deserved to win AGT.
I swear if I had my eyes closed, I would think the original artist was singing. Much Much more than just a puppeteer.
AvivaDove - July 22, 2008 11:03 PM (GMT)
You're welcome I LOVE ELLIOTT. I'm not a big Maroon 5 fan. They were awful live on American Idol . When Terry did them live, it sounded good, better than the real Maroon 5.
AGT is tonight. I love the show better than Idol. It gives people too young or old for Idol and people with talents other than singing a chance.
TxRangerette - August 6, 2008 03:32 AM (GMT)
What an emotional night! Just wow...
AvivaDove - August 7, 2008 01:59 AM (GMT)
I thought that most of the great singers cracked under the pressure of being in Vegas or being on the big stage in Vegas without an audience. I was happily surprised that most of them made it through anyway.
For those of us not lucky enough to be going to Playland in Rye, NY tomorrow, America's Got Talent will be on at 9:30pm EST, NBC. They'll narrow it down from 60 to the top 40. I think we'll get to start voting tomorrow!
TxRangerette - August 8, 2008 11:43 AM (GMT)
I wonder who will get the open slot? I was in tears again watching last night...
AvivaDove - August 8, 2008 05:56 PM (GMT)
I was surprised that they let that 4 year old through. She's cute as button. She could be on a sitcom tomorrow. I don't think she could sing for an hour in Vegas. I was also surprised they let through the self defense girl.
I think Donald Braswell, the dad who lost his voice should have had a shot at it. They thought his song choice was too old fashioned. He's a contender in the wild card spot. I voted for him.
I'm confused. They said it will be on after the Olympics. Does that mean on the regular days after the Olympics coverage is on or weeks from now when the Olympics are over?
EYaminCDaughtryfan - August 15, 2008 06:30 PM (GMT)
The live shows start after the Olympics :)

Tonight was a little boring for me. I like Neal E. Boyd, but he's no Paul Potts. I'm glad Donald Braswell got another chance.
Tomorrow, my two favorites, Eli Mattson and Queen Emily are on.
AvivaDove - August 29, 2008 07:56 PM (GMT)
Eli wasn't on yet. Queen Emily was fantastic!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WR01lbIDbEThere's Queen Emily. She not only sounded great, but she looked great. She's only 40. In her first audition, she sounded great, but she looked matronly and much older.
I Love Elliott - August 30, 2008 04:15 PM (GMT)
The Wright Kids (the young trio) are from a VERY, VERY small "town" about 20 miles from me.
They are from the same small town that "The Clark Brothers" (last years' Greatest American Band contest winners) are from.
Really sad that Wed. night is the first we saw of them. I think the judges said that they had done bluegrass is previous auditions.
Hope they make it through.
DaisyKary - September 2, 2008 01:33 PM (GMT)
I haven't watched this yet this season, but I watched the end of last season.
I saw Terry Fator live and he was hysterical!! I laughed so hard I cried!! And he's such a nice guy! GO SEE HIM if you can before his Vegas contract starts in February!!!

Kary,
Thanks for the Terry Fator pictures! Where did you see him? We saw him in Atlantic City in November and Lancaster, PA in July. Both times, he signed autographs and was very nice. I even suggested for him to put an Elliott impersonation in his show.
For those who can't get to a show, I suggest youtube and getting his DVD on
http://www.terryfator.com Tonight, I voted for Jonathan Burkin, the batton twirler.

AvivaDove - September 4, 2008 02:34 AM (GMT)
My friend knows Jonathan. She says he's exactly as he seems on the show, humble and super talented. She says he can do alot more than what we've seen.
Tonight, I loved Donald Braswell, Eli Mattson and Nuttin But Stringz.
