From MJ's Blog this morning...Blake is out at Arista

http://www.mjsbigblog.com/

Dang - that was fast!

:rotfl: :rotfl: oohhhh SNAP son! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Not surprised. I never saw Blake as this "original" Idol contestant like some did. Oh well, maybe he'll get signed by P. Diddy

ElliottCat101 - June 23, 2008 06:08 AM (GMT)
OUCH! That stings!

ohioguy45780 - June 25, 2008 12:46 PM (GMT)
rumored for over 2 months, sadly.

The labels aren't wasting any time if the Idols don't perform and make $$$, as we see with Taylor,Kat and Blake. Archuleta better make bread for them, or it will be curtians for him as well (I assume Cook will sell a million albums, easily).

AvivaDove - June 25, 2008 02:21 PM (GMT)
Maybe his attitude had something to do with it?

ElliottCat101 - June 25, 2008 05:15 PM (GMT)
here's what he posted about it on his MySpace:

Now to the phone call. I planned for Wednesday to be my day to rehearse for tonight's Canal Room show, cause we were leaving on Thurs. to play Vegas. Ring, ring, ring went the phone. Iain my manager baring the news. Arista isn't picking up the second option. Meaning, I'm not doin another record with them. I'm totally fine with this... I was just wishing they would have put the word out to me over the last couple months, because lets face it..... Waiting SUCKS!!!! I could have known this 2 months ago, when all of RCA was going through there changes. Oh well. I guess the right time was now. No biggy. I'm still with 19 Recordings and I got a tour and new record on the way.

Not a surprise at all. I never got him in the least. That god awful CD cover, terrible singles and an offensive attitude will get you dropped pretty quickly.

If I was a Clay Aiken fan I'd be very worried as his poor CD sales and a single that is struggling on a chart that doesn't really generate sales lead me to believe he is next to go.

Lol or maybe the general public just wasn't...how can I do this Randy Jackson style.....wasn't feelin' Blake's style. This is an imperative thing when dealing with contestants post-Idol; if you don't bring in fans outside of the Idol bubble with your style, you're not going to sell.

agree with this...Aiken gets the axe next. He generates publicity, but his sales are way south (like everyone else's). He'll go Indie. He and his management have made some bad decisions...he could have easily been the next (gulp) Manilow.

anyone else simply happy that Elliott is with Three Rings and Sony ATV Publishing? No chance of being dropped by that "label"...by all estimation, he's their biggest seller right now. :-)

YES!

I think Blake's main problem was just that his stuff wasn't popular with enough people. And I think Clay will go next as well.

ITA about Blake. When you're signed with a major label, you have to be able to sell millions to stay afloat. I think Blake (like many, many other Idol contestants) will be much happier going to Elliott -- oops, I mean Indie -- route :)

Blake really did have one of the most hideous album covers, ever. Yikes.

Ugh tell me about it! Not much worse than Jordin's though...

Most. Unflattering. Picture. Ever. Her cover makes McPhee's look GOOD! :rotfl: :rotfl: What is it with Idol making females stare at the camera with this vacant, open-mouthed expression? Even Kelly looked kinda like that on the Breakaway cover...

SoulMusicRocks - June 27, 2008 04:07 PM (GMT)
Geez, it seems like they drop a former contestant per month now. It's really unfortunate, but the market isn't really in good shape right now....come to think of it, the entire economy of the U.S. is not in good shape.

DaisyKary - September 11, 2008 05:13 PM (GMT)

Um..........I'm a Blake fan. I love his CD! Have any of you actually HEARD it? Or are you just hating the cover of it? Or is it that he's not exactly like Elliott? I agree the singles were not the best, but that was the record label's decision and there are many better songs on his cd than those! Like "Know My Name" that he wrote with Josh Hoge. Blake was not exactly dropped by the label His contract was up and neither wanted to continue together.

What's with his attitude? I haven't heard any of those stories.

I will be seeing Blake a couple times next month. He better not have an attitude!

Blake just cut his tour short!
He is only doing Oct 5-16 now. Bummer!!
I still get to see him, but I wonder why he did that??? He said he's looking for new management and a new label. I thought Blake and 19 were doing fine. Why is he looking for new management?
