Idols like Chekezie, Michael Johns, Jason , Carly , Syeshia and Brooke should have been signed long before Kristy Lee. I just don't get it.

I totally get it AD. You know why she was signed first? It starts with a g....GENRE! She's in a genre that for some odd reason seems to bring in loads of money for Idol: Country. It's also a genre where the public doesn't seem to care how well you can sing (see Pickler, Josh Gracin, and although I love him, Bucky). Talent had nothing to do with it, but since when was AI ever really about talent? They would've signed the best singer of S5 if so, but they didn't (their mistake!). They just want money :headsmack:

I actually hope they don't sign Jason though, he's not an AI-type person in the first place and most definitely would be Biced. He's a really good songwriter so I'd rather have him on indie where it's more likely he'd be singing his own songs.

There was a few other people who should've been signed before Kristy. But maybe the others will get better deals!

Although I'm not a big country fan, I have to say there are a lot more emotional country singers out there... but AI does make the bucks with them, so what ever.

I wonder who they are gonna bypass from this group. And I wonder if it's not a good thing for them to have too many irons in the fire. It might hurt the sales of one, if there are too many Idol CD's released. Well we know the radio stations aren't crazy about it anyway.

Yeah, I agree. The only reason they signed her is because her genre has proven to be very receptive of Idols (particularly blond, female ones). Country is one of the very few genres that still sells. She's a cute, country girl that can easily be marketed - that's why they signed her.

But with that being said, I was still surprised. She doesn't seem to have the most ardent fans, she was constantly in the Bottom 3, and she is not the world's best singer. But then again, neither was Pickler. But they promoted the heck out of her, and now she's a Country staple.

Apparently, 19E announces record deals by the order in which they placed on the show. Since KLC finished 7th, that means 19E (I think) has officially passed on signing everyone from Syesha to Carly.

HI Y'all, I never liked Kristy Lee Cook from the begining of American Idol! She can't sing at all and behind David and David she is the third American Idol to get signed to a record label! I will be going to the 2008 American Idol Live Tour on Wednesday July 9, 2008 and I will need to sit through Kristy Lee Cooks set on this tour! I really don't even know how she made it through the auditions! The singers on Nashville Star are better then Kristy! Taylor Hicks, Kat Mcphee and Blake Lewis got dropped from 19 Entertainment! I thought David Hernandez was better then Kristy and should of been in Kristy's place. I really can't see why Kristy got so far on American Idol! I just can't see how some bad singers fall through the cracks and get far on American Idol!

At least Pickler had personality. I loathe the fact that the music industry is driven by the dollar. This is what we get instead of a passionate performer, or a great vocalist, or a gifted songwriter :(

Somehow I'm not really surprised by this announcement. The rationale that EITB provided is exactly my thinking. Well.....it looks like I'll be waiting for any Carly music for a long time.
