Title: Taylor Hicks On A Capitol Fourth

I was not impressed at all. He had a lot of pitch problems. Too much dancing and not enough singing, imo.

I'm not impressed either. Not much range and his voice sounds worn or something. Well, what do you expect... I just got finished watching Elliott on Capitol 4th again. You can't compare the two, I mean apples and oranges... but I just didn't get that same feeling I do when I hear Elliott sing.

As usual :rotfl:

Yikes.....I really wish Taylor the best, but the singing was just mediocre IMO.

Taylor was having major issues with his singing, especially on the Bruce Springsteen song, the dancing was way way too much to the detriment of the lyrics, he seemed out of breath for much of the song. He seemed exhausted to me as well.

Jerry Lee Lewis at age 73 was not out of breath, out of tune nor did he have pitch problems like Taylor Hicks did last night.

He had to be sweating to death! Ummmm, was that a LEATHER suit????????! :rotfl:

I watched the show. I agree that Taylor was not good. His first song was OK and then it just all fell apart. Out of breath, out of tune and could not hold a note. It was almost like he got really nervous. I have many friends and family who are fans. I try to like him, but when he has performances like this, it just takes me back to the AI days when week after week no matter how he sang, he sat there in 1st place while Elliott was in the bottom 3. :(

I think it just proves you gotta stay with who you are... remember Taylor
during the auditions..he was funky and fun..

^^

What's weird is that I think he was trying to look that way, but it all seemed forced.

I also agree with Shatner upthread that the Springsteen song was especially bad.

And like Efan, I don't wish him ill, but there was no denying that he was having problems out there. I often wondered if his ear piece was malfunctioning.

Maybe he was just tired from his big role in "Grease". You know it can take a lot out of you walking down the steps in a White Suit singing, "Beauty School Dropout". :rotfl:
