I thought that I'd ask this because Elliott fans are very unique and like a variety of things. I listen to Rap and R&B music. What do you guys like? Who are your favs in that genre? :discuss:

I can't think of any particular genre but off my head my favourite musical influences would be The Clash, The Smiths, The Cure, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Thelonious Monk, Stan Getz, Ahmad Jamal, Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Itzhak Perlman, Depeche Mode, System of a Down, Marcus Miller...

It is a good ol' jumbled-up mix. :)

As to genre, it depends on the mood, but overall I'd say I love lackadaisical British bands in the 70s / 80s era with those mind-rippingly intelligent lyrics the most (if they can be called a genre at all). For those who know Steve Morrissey - he's my man!! I just dig that trademark melancholia and oddball unhinged mind. I love geniuses like that!!! B)

I voted Rap/Hip-Hop and R&B. Out of those two, R&B is probably my fave.

R&B: Elliott Yamin, Ne-Yo, Ray J, Usher, Rihanna, Ciara, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Chris Brown, John Legend, Lyfe Jennings, Akon, Trey Songz, Destiny's Child, etc.

Rap: 2Pac, Nelly, Kanye West, Nas, Eminem, Dem Franchize Boyz, Black Eyed Peas, etc.

I like some other stuff too, but I'm not gonna name everything.

I almost answered R&B but chose other because I prefer a more adult, jazzy sound.

My fave singer right now (beside Elliott) is John Legend. I also like Kanye (I know he's arrogant BUT he's arrogant AND talented :P)

I like classical, jazz, big band, 50's & 60's rock, pop, alternative. Even some country, r & b & hip hop.

I appreciate all genre's of music but my fave type of music is hip hop/R&B.

Other- I just started listening to Big Band and some Jazz music. I really like Micheal Buble as well as some others! :D

rock's my favorite genre, but old skool r & b is right behind that. i definitely have an eclectic mix of favorite bands: the beatles, elvis costello, the temptations, marvin gaye, dave matthews band, the clash, diana ross and the supremes, the cure, carole king, bob dylan, jason mraz and outkast. (and now Elliott!!)

I love mostly all genres except techno and heavy-metal rock. But mostly, I listen to emo-alternative, soul classic , jazz and songs from the late 80s and early 90s. I love 80s music and George Michael :)

Voted for "Rock" because that's the music I am most familiar with.

I voted for Country. It's what I listen to 85% of the time. I also listen to rock, pop, oldies etc. I just love music. I don't usually go out of my way to listen to r&b unless it's only my radio station. Elliott becoming my favorite kinda took me by surprise. His voice and talent are just undeniable.

I chose R&B and "other" (other representing Christian/Gospel music). By R&B, I mean old school r&b, not this stuff that's out on the airwaves now (no offense to anyone on here). There are a few artists out now that I enjoy, but for the most part I am an "oldie but goodie" fanatic. :yes:

But I also love rnb, jazz, rock, and 70's-80's music.

Jazz music has been my favorite since 1978, but I also like classical, disco, 70's & 80's, Opera, RnB and pop. Some of my favorite jazz artists are Ramsey Lewis, David Benoit, Hiroshima, Renee Olstead, Ronnie Laws, Lee Ritenour, Kevyn Lettau & Everything But the Girl.

I'm an alterna-gal, I worship PEARL JAM! But I do have a wide range of musical interests.

I listen to all types of music. My favorite music is still mostly older stuff. I love 80s music, and I also like a lot of stuff from the 60s and 70s. My favorite artist of all time is George Michael, and that is who I listen to the most. I never used to be a country music fan at all. Now I love a lot of it: Tim and Faith, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Rascall Flatts, Sugarland, Gretchen Wilson. I also love Latin music. Enrique Iglesias was one of my favorites, but I think he and Anna Kornakova both retired together. I haven't heard anything about him in ages. It's a shame, because he is very talented (writes, sings, and produces most of his music in multiple languages.)

I grew up with Motown,Beatles,and then 70's.Since then added:classical,celtic,Folk,funky jazz(Dr.John),Bruce,Eagles, Led Zep,Tom Waits,R&B(old style),and many more. I have a huge CD collection.It depends on my mood,I guess, except where Elliott is concerned,I could listen to him all day, every day. :woohoo:
