Title: Copyright Questions
Description: photos
AshleyPacka - May 27, 2006 07:41 PM (GMT)
Umm...you DO need permission.
Honestly, I'm not trying to harp on ya'll, but if any of this pictures came from photo agencies like Wire Image, you can be sued. I post at a very large ezboard and the whole BOARD was almost shut down over photos that were copyright protected. (And we're talking about the largest board on ezboard, with over 20,000 members.) Individual people were even being sued.
I would be extremely cautious with where I get my pictures from. Things like Yamingirl's caps are fine, but if you're getting them from photo agencies you're asking for trouble.

im sorry but if they want them copyright protected they can turn off the right click feature...if not there fair game im my humble opinion (which amounts to about a pile of beans...lol)
AshleyPacka - May 27, 2006 07:44 PM (GMT)
Right. I'm a mood killer. Ya'll go ballistic when a post on the internet gets shut down, I'd like to see how you react when you're slapped with a lawsuit.
I was trying to HELP.

So you're saying if someone doesn't lock their door at night, they deserved to stolen from? Your argument doesn't work.
I personally think these things should be able to be circulated around the internet, I really do. The more the merrier. I just dont' want to see some big corporation come down on good E-Trainers because of misinformation.

Well you obviously didn't have a problem with it before.
Sorry, but I've been reading your recent posts and you just seem like you're being rude to people who are asking simple questions. No need to be so snarky.
AshleyPacka - May 27, 2006 07:49 PM (GMT)
I DID have a problem with it before. I posted a warning in the Official Pics thread and it was ignored. I actually have NO personal problem with it, but I would feel terrible if something happened to someone and I didn't have the chance to inform them or warn them about the possible consequences.
And what other posts are you talking about? My first post in this thread was strictly informational, it wasn't putting anyone down. I didn't get defensive until I was called a mood killer. I admit I was rude in one other post, because I'm extremely frustrated with people starting a million topics about E's friends and family. Obviously the mods are too, because the post was immediately closed.

We will not be slapped with a lawsuit. There would be a cease and desist letter sent to us before that. They are not going to sue a board/person that isn't making money off their work unless they have to.
AshleyPacka - May 27, 2006 07:58 PM (GMT)
Since the mods don't have a problem with it I'll drop it. Honestly, I wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feelings. I just don't want anyone to end up in trouble. I've seen it happen.
The girl it did happen to ignored the companies, so that's why she ended up with the lawsuit. I'm sure if anyone was contacted, they would stop immediately. I'm just saying, don't be surprised if you do hear from someone. They're really cracking down on this sort of thing. An entire section of the board had to be shut down for several days, so it's the type of thing that could effect many E-Trainers.

I'm quite familiar with the copyright laws being in the graphic/web design business for quite a few years now. I realize we are stepping on that line but every fan board out there does so until they tell us otherwise, it's business as usual.

AshleyPacka, I, unlike many people here, appreciate your post and your concern. I have heard that putting up Wire images can get you into trouble. Since this site is seen by a lot of people, there is a possibility that something bad could happen. I never put up pictures, I just look at them and enjoy....but I really appreciate you giving the heads up.

I hope you are not insinuating that I do not care.
