Title: Sin City
Description: Did you think it was disturbing?

I just rented Sin City and watched it the other night after hearing good things about it. I really liked it, I thought the story and cinematography were really unique. It was artsy, but quite violent as well. But that kind of violence, stylized and fantastical, doesn't really upset me. It disturbed my fiance quite a bit, however: he had to leave the room. Later when I commented that I enjoyed the movie, he said "You are sick in the head!" He was joking, but he was truly upset by the violence and images in Sin City. Yet he isn't bothered by the violence in war movies! I feel that the violence in war movies is much more disturbing because it is realistic and is based, if loosely, on real events...

How did y'all like Sin City, if you've seen it? I enjoyed it but was concerned by my fiance's reaction.

I really enjoyed the movie a lot. It was fun. I loved the cinematography. It's definately an experience. I didn't find it too disturbing because it's just a comic book animated on the big screen. I am way more disturbed by the war in Iraq and real events on the local news.

I wanted to add that I am really into Comics. If you read Sin City you wouldn't be very disturbed by the movie at all. It's supposed to be extreme and unreal. Like Mickey Rourke's charactor Marv never dies. It's not real violence - its comic book violence. There is a difference between the two.

Well said...watching the news gives me nightmares. Movies don't.

Zekbee, I have to agree with your fiancee. I love violent movies but Sin City was just disgusting. Specifically, the last part of the Bruce Willis chracter's story.

War movies don't disturb me because they are (loosely) based on real life. I don't know how to explain it...maybe I'll come back later after I think about it for awhile.

Sin City was pretty violent. I didn't think it would be. The movie was good for what it is but it's not the type of movie I'd seek out to watch.

One of my favourite movies of all time, and I went in there with high expectations. I have read the graphic novels about a million times since I was 12, so the violence didn't bother me too much. Graphic? Ridiculously so, but it's stylized and over the top, not hard to watch like the gore in horror movies and stuff.

I find the violence in Sin City to be so graphic, so over the top that it doesn't disturb me. I watched in on the basis that it comes from the comic so I didn't look too much into it. Great movie though.

Sin City is in my top 10 favorite movies of all time. I LOVED it. I actually just purchased the DVD last week. (I rented it several times before I finally found a copy to buy)
