Title: The Movies You Love
elviselvis - May 28, 2006 07:25 PM (GMT)
I am the biggest cinema fan. I love films just as much as I love music. I just love arts in general.
My all time favorite movie, if I have to name only one, it'll be Cinema Paradiso.
I love films by Wong Kar-Wai, David Lynch, Tim Burton, Hayao Miyazaki, and screenplays by Charlie Kauffman.
For those of you who like independent movies, you have to watch The Station Agent, one of the best indies ever!!!! I'm a sucker for perculiar friendships.

Ah a movie lover! I love love love movies.
I'm still debating on what my favourite film ever is.
I want to say Monkey Business (Only because I'm completely enamored with the Marx Brothers.)
I think I'll have to say The Seven Samurai(Shichinin no samurai) or The Seventh Seal. (Sjunde inseglet, Det)
zekbee - May 28, 2006 07:39 PM (GMT)
I love Jim Jarmusch films. Paris, Texas is my favorite of his. Also love the Charlie Kaufman screenplays.
My favorite movie of all time is Contact, but I am a science geek at heart :)

I Loooove the cinema! I really love going to movie houses and watching on the big screen with others and enjoying the collective experience. I feel we are losing a lot of the magic of film when we watch films in the privacy of our homes instead of sharing the immersion experience with others. I go to as many film festivals as I can because alot of these films are incredible and often unfortunately never make it beyond the film festival circuit which to me is a huge injustice.
Anyhow, of the films that people do get to see, here are some of my favorites so far:
My favorite directors right now are Pedro Almodovar and Ang Lee.
My favorite relatively current movies are:
La Mala Educacion
Look Both Ways (Australian film, definitely check it out!)
Brokeback Mountain
Transamerica
Millions
Good Night and Good Luck
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (what a hoot! - Robert Downey Jr. pairing with Val Kilmer)
And overall (at this moment in time):
Adaptation
All About My Mother
Amelie
Billy Elliot
Birdcage
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
High Fidelity
O Brother, Where Art Thou
Shakespeare in Love
Seventh Seal

I'm know I'm probably alone in this...but The Boondock Saints is one of my favorite movies. I'm into action movies, thrillers and dramas. I can't stand typical "chick flicks", so my boyfriend has no problem with me picking the movies we watch!
I also like most of Christian Bale's movies. :thud:
Anyone like foreign movies? I don't know anyone who does and I don't know how to pick them. I just recently watched The Dinner Game, it's a French comedy. It was pretty funny!

Hey you and I can be friends.
I love foreign movies. In fact, I watch mostly foreign movies, Indies, and documentries. Not a big fan of the mainstream hollywood blockbusters.
I also CANNOT stand typical chick flicks. I like certain kind of romance movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Brokeback Mountain.
I also love Christian Bale. He is a great charactor actor. I recently saw the Machinist. He is totally awesome.

lol are you male or female? I can't go to movies with my girlfriends, I feel like I'm just wasting my money. It's specifically romantic comedies that I don't like.
Do you have any foreign movies that you would recommend? I rent them once in awhile from Netflix but I have no idea what to look for. I like movies with intricate stories, like Intermission. Right now The Motorcycle Diaries is waiting for me on my DVD player. And so far the only foreign movie I did not enjoy was Y Tu Mama Tambien.
Oh, and YAY there are Christian Bale fans here! :D :D :D
