Thought you might enjoy some consolidated commentary on Elliott's performances from the Finale Wednesday night. The snippets are from Newspapers, Internet Columns, and some bigger Blogs. Enjoy...some are rather funny, and they all love Elliott!

Finale Round-Up for Elliott

Daily Blabber
I was so happy to see Elliott so smoothly belting it out on stage again. His booming deejay voice introduced Mary J. Blige and, um... then we didn't hear much from him unfortunately after that. She really took over, huh? And in the end she was shaking that funky white boy around by his arm. Did Mary J. notice the feet on that boy?

--While I usually can't stand when shows do a choreographed piece using the cast, the segment with all the guys singing BTO's "Takin' Care of Business" was good. Standouts were Daughtry and Elliott Yamin, who are the two best male singers the show has ever had. Even poodle-haired Bucky Covington sang well on the tune.

--After a great beginning to U2's classic "One," sung beautifully by Yamin, Mary J. Blige joined him and went way over the top, drowning out Yamin and whomever else was attempting to speak in a five-mile radius. Can someone develop a V-chip which shuts down a television whenever someone over-sings? I'm buying it as soon as it's available.

--Putting the show back on the talent track, Burt Bacharach led the cast in singing some of his greatest hits. Once again, Elliott was the standout performer, doing a version of "This House is Not a Home" that had Luther Vandross groovin' in his grave. How I know this? I spoke to my Psychic Friends who had contacted Luther. These "friends" were available, as their leader, Dionne Warwick was busy reprising some of her Bacharach classics on the show at the time.

Jlynn/MediaFiends“House is Not a Home”- F*** YEAH! That is really what I said when the chords to this song started and it went to Elliott…..move over Anwar and Ruben…..the single best vocals of the night! Seriously, he is so amazing…..I teared up…

--Elliott Yamin tears the cover off U2's "One" for about two seconds, and then Mary J. Blige takes over. She's good, even if she's wearing Mah-Jongg glasses, but she hogged the song. I only wish Bono had been there. I think Mary sang it better than she did with Bono at the Grammys.

--Elliott Yamin, "A House Is Not A Home" >X 10,000 Tamyra Gray and Ruben Studdard. I love him. I'm buying his CD.

Elliott and his bad self gettin’ down with Mary J. – How cool was that for The Great Jones Mystery!? You made the boys back home in Richmond mighty proud!

Dallas News
The art of the appeal of American Idol is that it reminds us of the richness of the Great American Songbook. Elliott Yamin, who finished third, created chills with his version of Mr. Bacharach's "A House Is Not a Home."

Miami Herald
Third-placer Elliott Yamin and R&B singer Mary J. Blige blazed on U2's One, and a special tribute to Elliott's devoted mom Claudette was a nice touch.

Boston Herald
The only successful duo was Mary J. Blige and Elliott Yamin’s version of U2’s “One Love.” For all the Yamin-iacs, yes, we can’t wait for his album either.

Palm Beach Post
“Let Elliott sing. Good. There he is. I adore him so much. And Bucky“. “Elliott's mother is crying, because she's introducing "my Elliott Yamin" He's singing "One," and in the background is...yes, I hear her...ladies and gents, the only singer more melodramatic than Taylor Hicks, Mary J. Blige. She is the queen. She has made Elliott her backup singer. And I don't think he cares. Mary will take your song, and you better act like you like it. She is now realizing that there is someone up there with her, and she is waving his arm like she is hailing a taxi. "She couldn't have done him a proper and left the heels at home?"
