mmkay, so i just got photoshop and i was wondering if any of you have had it for a while could help me navigate it...it's suprisingly hard for me [i considered myself pretty savvy before this hehehe]

if anyone has any tips on
-blending photos
-color overlays
-using the brushes
-etc.

just pm me with any tips.

Aaah - Photoshop - the best and most difficult graphics software to master. I've had it for a year (an old version, mind you) and I'm still unlocking it fully. :P

Some quick, basic tips.

Blending. Try to have the backgrounds of the pictures in a similar color palette, and use a soft pastel brush.

Color Overlays: To improve the quality of a picture, or to make it better fit for a banner, try duplicating the layer, desaturating it, and setting it to 'soft light'.

A dark, navy blue layer set to exclusion mellows a graphic down rather well. A dark, dark red layer set to exclusion does so as well.

Gradients are your friend, but always have them set to 'soft light', or sometimes 'screen'.


Brushes: Use them as an accent, don't go overboard - it took me a long time to learn this. :P
