Title: Not Kat Bashing But.........
nanaAnne - May 30, 2006 06:11 PM (GMT)
Just saw Kat on Dayside on Fox. Isn't she 22 years old? My goodness, she sounds like a 14 year old. She uses language inappropriate for someone her age..."like I think that was ridiculous", "like yuh I know" throughout the interview.
The question was asked about Simon's comment about Kat not being Whitney Houston. This is when she answers with the 'like I think that was ridiculous...they had to apologize the next day............"
I just don't think girl is idol material. She need to grow-up. :poke:

LOL!
I don't think that's Kat bashing. BUT, I understand your paranoia.

I caught her on part of Larry King Live the other night and thought she sounded very immature as well.
dke1212 - May 30, 2006 06:51 PM (GMT)
I agree also. I was thinking maybe her parents did everything for her so she hasn't had to learn to communicate on a more mature level. Having said that...I have my moments too. :P

Well, perhaps it is just valley girl California-ese. I do remember when my sister-in-law was in college and she would call about her boyfriend. The whole conversation was He went..and then I went.... totally self absorbed.
She's thirty now and a great gal. So, maybe 22 isn't all that grown up. Especially if you live in La La land.

It's not just the language (or lack thereof) but the actual responses show no thought, awareness, analysis, personal goals or purpose. I've been saying this all along (posted numerous times on this board). It was obvious to me in the written interviews immediately after the finale.
Example: Asked what she learned from the celebrity coaches during the season, her response was (paraphrased): "Ummm...uh...well...er...ummm...nothing, really...we, like, uh...only worked on specific songs that I was singing on the show."
Not one single thing taken away from those who have proven musical success for many years? (Compare the comments of Elliott on every show...and I'm not saying that one must necessarily "blindly obey" what one is told, because we know that Elliott did NOT do that in the end when he was told not to sing IBTMS.)
Example: Said she was not asked who she wanted to sing with at finale, but was "told" it would be Meatloaf. Then stated that she had "never heard of him before" and when prompted with major hit songs by Meatloaf, said she'd never heard of them before.
Not the least bit curious about the person she was going to sing with in the finale? Not the least bit educated in pop culture when AI is the epitomy of that genre?
One surely must wonder what the 41 year old boyfriend is doing in this picture????
Nuff said....her LANGUAGE reveals the depth of her INTELLIGENCE...believe me. It's not just immaturity. She has never truly bought into a career in music. It was all about looks and that was enough for McParents in the end.

I live in California. That is the way your typical 20 something speaks here. It's just the California way of life.
nanaAnne - May 30, 2006 07:37 PM (GMT)
I raised kids here and they do not speak that way. My 9 year old grandaughter does. I hear this 'like' business from kids all the time but not in 20 somethings.
Kat sounds very uneducated. Elliott didn't graduate from high school and is very articulate.
I was not going to post what my husband said when he saw her today, however, it was funny............"what a wolfhound!" :o
Please forgive me. I guess not everyone thinks she is that attractive.
LOTR Fan 71281 - May 30, 2006 07:42 PM (GMT)
Like...totally for sure. LOL! I actually noticed that too. I jut think she's not that articulate and not all that smart. I think she's just naive. She been pampered by her parents and was allowed to have her ego grow. Heopfully she'll pass the imature phase, for everyone's sake.
erulesyo - May 30, 2006 07:50 PM (GMT)
Yeah, she doesn't talk so good, but plus sized models don't need to communicate.

Totally agree on this one! And I lived in Los Angeles for about 3 years (13 yrs total in California).
The educated Valley girls may talk that way, but they still make sense and show signs of intelligence.
More reason to hate her. yay! :silly: :silly:

I agree, but in Los Angeles.... SADLY, she is borderline plus size. Sad really!

Kat isn't the "typical" 20 something.
According to her parents, we heard, adnauseum, she was "meant for this." Peisha and AI milked every second of publicity for Kat's "lifelong training" in classical voice. Anyone who goes to Boston Conservatory would at least be expected to know how to formulate a complete sentence (including such sentence holding a bit of content). Here she is on national television in New York City, not California, and she can't tone down the teeny bopper talk long enough to at least SOUND intelligent? Sheesh, my own mother taught me the proper form of speaking from the time I started, in addition to basic table manners, courtesy for others, civility in social situations, etc. It was a lifelong lesson, but it seems that Kat only got the singing part. (My mother was also a singer, but that part didn't take on me.)
Nah. The AI bubble and image work was the only thing that got her this far. She'll ruin herself if she keeps talking.
My daughter is 22 years old and a zillion times more poised, graceful, socially adept and intelligent than Katherine (intelligence often is gained simply from being around one's parents where conversation at the dinner table actually contains substantive material).
And, she doesn't wear tops down to her navel, either. Imagine that.

That's true. A lot of girls talk that way, but they don't say such stupid things!
GRR! Elliott should have beaten her!

Hee hee :)
Though I gotta admit, I talk that way too. I say "Dude" and "Chick" and "like, totally" - but I can also switch it off and speak in a manner befitting a reasonably intelligent person. I think. :)

LOL that's true! Her interviews only last about 5 minutes! She should be able to hold it in that long!
And ditto about her outfits. I hope little girls really *don't* want to grow up to be like Kat..

You just did. My point, exactly. I'd think that National Television would be a "befitting" venue, ya think, DUDE???
:woohoo:
