Description: For musical freaks like me
ILoveJay - May 30, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
Who here loves musicals? They are not the cheapest form of entertainment ($80-$110) a pop. But I am obsessed with musical theater.
Fave Musicals:
Les Mis
Into The Woods
Avenue Q
RENT
Fave Musical Numbers/Songs
On My Own - Les Miz
There's a Fine, Fine Line - Avenue Q
Suddenly Seymour - Little Shop of Horrors
I am happiest when I go to Manhattan and do nothing but watch theater. Any theater freaks out there like me?
:thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:

OMG! I totally forgot about I'm Still Hurting from The Last 5 Years. Sad sad song!
oh and FeistyLady - I have done musicals for a few years, and my closest friends are in theater and quite a few of them are now in Broadway. Trust me.... Kat does NOT belong in theater. She does not have enough talent to do theater. :D

CAROUSEL
WEST SIDE STORY
SOUTH PACIFIC

Not exactly a typical musical, but I just saw STOMP about 2 weeks ago, I swear that was one of the most awesome things I have ever seen! I thanked my boyfriend for getting us up to the front because one of the performers was so hot. I would post his picture but if by any chance he or anyone he knows saw it, I would  !
VACellist - May 31, 2006 01:27 AM (GMT)
CATS
Phantom
Fiddler on the Roof
West Side Story
this list could go on and on and on!
any musical I get to play in the pit orchestra with!
Saw the BLAST show a few years ago and it was MIND BOGGLING! (I think you have to have been a music geek kid to understand/appreciate it fully though!)
I want to take my kids to NY to see "Spam-a-Lot" :silly:

I saw "Les Miserables" at ASU Gammage more than a week ago and loved it. :woohoo: I want to see Cats, Rent and The Phantom of the Opera. :D

I got to see Wicked when Kristen and Idina were still there. IT WAS AMAZING!
It's the only one I've ever gotten to see.
Well besides Phantom Of The Opera but it wasn't on Broadway or anything.

Count me in!! Love musicals. Can't say I like the British ones though (don't care for Les Miz or Phantom). Love Avenue Q (hilarious! The Internet is for Porn!), anything by Sondheim. Also love Frank Loesser. Agree with I Love Jay--Kat does not have the talent to be in the theater. I think Lisa does, though.

Thank you! I also agree that if there could only be one person that could do theater, it is definitely Lisa.
Internet is for Porn and Everybody's A Little Bit Racists are the funniest 2 numbers of Avenue Q

Awhile back, I lived in central Jersey for several years and loved going into the city to museums and the theater.
Loved these musicals:
Les Miz
Phantom
Three Penny Opera (for Sting, lol)
Little Shop of Horrors
I didn't see nearly all of the shows I would've liked to have seen! I've attended some really good regional productions, too.

Does Rocky Horror Picture Show count? heh
I'm not obsessed with it but I do love it.
I'm not a big musical person, but I did used to be obsessed over The Who's Tommy when it was on Broadway.
I took a class trip to NY and that was one of the shows we got to see and I fell in love with it.
Wish I still had my cd heh... but I wore that sucker out so it probably wouldn't play anymore heh.

My very first crush was on the guy who played Conrad Birdie in "Bye, Bye Birdie", in my school musical when I was in the third grade. The next year the school did "Guys and Dolls"(the music teacher left after that year so I never got to be in one).I saw Godspell a couple of times, and like it because it's kind of funky, some really good songs. Les Miserables is my all time favorite, lucky to see it with Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean, lucky to get to see Miss Saigon with Lea Salonga. I wish I could have seen Lea Salonga as Eponine in Les Mis. Best musicals I have on DVD, Julie Andrews in Victor/Victoria, and Cathy Rigby in Peter Pan. I would love to see Wicked. A friend performed a couple of the songs in a cabaret type format and loved the songs.

WICKED. Goodness how I love that musical. I got to see it with Shoshanna and Megan twice, and they were amazing. Joey Mc was fantastic as well!

Love B'way musicals! I'm still trying to get into one, being a musical the-a-tah performer myself!
Favorite Musicals:
A Chorus Line - gave me the bug
Les Miserables - gorgeous score and staging, epic story
42nd Street - ultimate song and dance show
The King & I - saw it with Yul in 1983, sitting 4th row center at the Orpheum in San Francisco, parents took me for my birthday
Gypsy! - most perfectly written musical ever, seamless collaboration of score, book and character, only versions I've seen are the CBS - Bette Midler and B'way revival with Bernadette Peters
Dreamgirls - great score, heartbreaking story and ultimate triumph
Into the Woods - one of the wittiest and poignant scores ever

I saw Bring In Da Noise Bring in Da Funk and it was AMAZING! I saw it before while they still had their original cast. Savion Glover is one talented man.
