Title: Am I the only one who loves what you won't do for
erules - May 19, 2006 04:56 AM (GMT)
I think his voice in 'what you won't do for love' is really sexy and hot!!
Although it is not that perfect compared to Elliott's other songs,
I love it!
SylviaRebecca - May 19, 2006 05:03 AM (GMT)
I love EVERY Elliott song...he even made me like "On Broadway", which I have ALWAYS hated, and "A Song For You", which I had previously only heard by The Carpenters, who I dislike unreasonably. Now I think "A Song For You" is beautiful...never thought I would like that song, ever.
But he does sound really good on "What You Won't Do For Love" and on "Open Arms", too. My absolute favorite, though, is "I Believe To My Soul" because there was such passion in his voice AND because he chose that himself, not through some dumb theme.

No, you're not, I know Tuesday night wasn't his best, but I enjoyed it! I REALLY enjoyed MMFL last night!

Oooh I loved it! Had it in my head all day Wednesday.
TSPSoulTrain - May 19, 2006 05:11 AM (GMT)
I thought the song was too short and ended a little abruptly. it's a great song and elliott did a great job in 80 seconds of work
hildyjohnson - May 19, 2006 07:03 AM (GMT)
I actually thought it was a great choice and he did a wonderful job.

I enjoyed his rendition of it! It's one of my all-tiem favorite songs. Not to mention, he was HOT in that shirt with two button left open at the top. **drools**
(WW, are you reading this? Oh, please forgive me. :D )
Veggie - May 19, 2006 09:06 AM (GMT)
I liked it. IMHO it's a really classy song, and you need good-great vocals to pull it off (Matt Rogers didn't).
skye_tonga - May 19, 2006 11:59 AM (GMT)
that song was PURE sex on legs, but randy and simon had ONE agenda and that was to make clear to AMERICA that yamin has the best voice but mediocrity is the goal this year. do you think he made the other singers feel inferior (not on purpose) because they have EARS and knew he was the best singer???!
onetwothree - May 19, 2006 12:11 PM (GMT)
Hated that song..but I love Elliott's version. I still can't get myself to listen to the original version but I've been listening to Elliott's version quite a lot.
Trip56 - May 19, 2006 12:58 PM (GMT)
I was so excited when I heard he was going to sing it. It's always been one of my favorite songs (I'm from that era) and I love the way Elliott made it his own.
jensolo5 - May 19, 2006 02:01 PM (GMT)
That song has been in my head all day (WYWDFL). It was just too damn short! Just when he got going is was over.
But that's my favorite look on him. button up shirt with jeans. and i love it with tennis shoes.
iluvashnjj - May 19, 2006 02:08 PM (GMT)
No I loved it. I thought he did the song justice. It is one of my favorites. :cheerleader:
ravenaired - May 19, 2006 02:11 PM (GMT)
I like the song, esp Elliott's version. Saw about the rerun three times, it gets better the next time arounf. I think he sounded better when he sang on results night though, esp "IBTMS"
cincygal - May 19, 2006 05:20 PM (GMT)
I love the Bobby Caldwell version and always have. I loved Elliott's version too, even though I know he had a supposed "off" night. For pete's sake, if he'd have been given the chance to actually get into the song and have a crack at it, it would've been awesome. But he didn't get lucky enough to get Katharine's time allotment. What a surprise!
Olivia - May 19, 2006 05:28 PM (GMT)
I am actually a fan of the Go West version, and I think Elliott did an awesome job in the few seconds they gave him. With more time and a better arrangement, it would be marketable on the radio.

Go West covered that? dang!

I liked it a lot too, so you're are not the only one who enjoyed hearing E sing it. I just wish that we could have heard more of it!
toka - May 19, 2006 11:03 PM (GMT)
they ruined it by making elliott sing like half a verse from the song. my god the song is so short to begin with and they didn't even let elliott most of it. it was truncated beyond recognition in my opinion. even though i still thought it fit elliott's voice perfectly.

No I loved it too. I have always loved that song. It was just too short. He was starting to get into it and than BAM it was over. Than Kat got almost 3 min and I was really pissed off. I would like him to record a full length version.
suedobins - May 20, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
That pissed me off BIG time ( that Kat got more singing time than Elliott) . How in the hell is that fair? That song is one of my all-time favorites. I almost 'thudded' when I heard E was singing it. Little did I know 'they' would shorten it so much that it was barely recognizeable! He didn't even get to sing the best part...."My friends wonder what is wrong with me, cuz I'm in a daze from your love, you see". :(
proudyaminay - May 20, 2006 03:33 AM (GMT)
I love, love, love the Go West version UNTIL I HEARD ELLIOTT SANG IT. The Go West cut now sounded so lame compared to Elliott's. I just wish E will do a full version of it.
Here's the Go West version:
Go West - WYWDFL
Edub - May 20, 2006 04:02 AM (GMT)
I like every Elliott song, I was rockin out with my Elliott cd today in my car and on my mp3 player and even on an off night, he still sounds amazing-- I like WYWDFL and thought he did a great job- but at 1:20 it's not even enough to get me going!
Maybe we should get an Elliott album and then an album of full length AI performances :)
SweetElliott - May 20, 2006 04:35 AM (GMT)
I love this song too.. His voice was just perfect for it too...He sounds too sexy..

I do prefer Go West's version over Bobby Caldwell's and Elliott has that knack for taking okay songs and turning them into something extraordinary. Just think how much better it would've been if they would've given him more than 5 seconds to sing it!!
blessed - May 20, 2006 06:43 PM (GMT)
i love this song too. <3 :)
