Title: Michael Buble
nikobie - June 3, 2006 02:09 AM (GMT)
Can someone explain, please, the raves for him.
I have to say, I don't hear it.
I find myself very bored when I hear him on the radio. Very bland.
Are there songs he does that are great and I'm just not hearing them? It's not the songs because I do like the songs he sings.
cjckco - June 3, 2006 02:17 AM (GMT)
You have to see him in concert. He is an amazing entertainer and likable guy. You come away from his concerts hooked on him.

I have his CD, It's Time, and I love it. Although I must admit that E ruined "Home" for me. He sang it better than Buble, IMO.
Edub - June 3, 2006 02:30 AM (GMT)
I agree- I think Buble is good- but he doesn't "move" me.
I think Elliott KILLED Buble's version of Home- even though he sang last than half of it...
EYowza - June 3, 2006 02:38 AM (GMT)
I remember reading on the AI boards that Buble dissed Elliott after he sang "Home". Did anyone else hear that? Or, was it just Buble fans dissing E?
Of course, I also heard that James Moody gave E major props for his version of MMFL. I have been wanting to find a link to that interview. If anyone has it, please post!
mars_mg - June 3, 2006 02:39 AM (GMT)
some buble fans are said to be arrogant... there's one buble fan though that loved elliott's rendition. i read it in her blog.
ohioguy45780 - June 3, 2006 02:50 AM (GMT)
Buble DID NOY say that about Elliott. That was some rabid Buble fan.
blueeyedsoul - June 3, 2006 03:43 AM (GMT)
Buble's Canadian and so am I. Would it be unpatriotic of me to say I liked Elliott's version of "Home" better than Buble's?
Not a huge Buble fan, but then I've never been to one of his concerts.
yamingirl - June 3, 2006 06:03 AM (GMT)
I am a HUGE HUGE Buble fan. He's sooo much better live than on CD.
Oh and for the comments about E, he came right out and said Elliott sang it better than him.
EmJay321 - June 3, 2006 06:19 AM (GMT)
I love him and I think he's got a fantastic voice. He can sing "Can't Buy Me Love" to me any day. "Home" was already one of my favorite songs before Elliott sang it, but now I love it even more.
MistressMerr - June 3, 2006 06:29 AM (GMT)
I'm not crazy about him, but he's got a good voice and he picks great tunes to sing. And, gotta agree that he is AMAZING live.
Berkana - June 3, 2006 06:51 AM (GMT)
AWWW I LOVE MB!!!!!!!!!
A lot of his fans are a bit snobbish.
The man himself is amazing to watch. Because he's fun, funny, charismatic, amazing. He knows how to put on a show and how to entertain a crowd, and that beautiful voice! Oi vey!
Yeah, and he did come out and give Elliott props.

He's the only reason I sat through that horrible awful movie "Totally Blonde."
Because while the rest of the movie was really really stupid, watching him have fun and act funny in that stupid movie made my entire year.
Have you seen it?
krazy4crack - June 3, 2006 07:58 AM (GMT)
Not a big fan of his... but I do love the song home... it's the only one I know... LOL

Don't forget that Michael Buble doesn't really have a version of "Home" since he wrote it. I think that the original is great since he wrote it for his own voice, and it a little more laid back than Elliott's. Elliott really did great justice to it though, he really can sing anything.
Yeah I've liked Michael Buble' since my mom first heard of him on a talk show whenever he first came out. I think his voice is great and he picks great tunes that fit his Sinatra-esk voice. I know some people that cristizize him though, for just singing ONLY songs that have already been done. Like this year on AI, the Old Standards week, I think MB sang more than one of those. But yeah I think he's a great artist.

Wow, when did he say that? I've never seen him live, but the PBS concert special was great, as are his CDs. I really think he probably has the best "pure" male voice since Sinatra, which is saying a lot. Not a problem at all loving his style and E's at the same time.

ampGURU - June 3, 2006 01:15 PM (GMT)
I love Michael Buble too.
I'm hoping Elliott chooses the route Buble did, and starts his career with a cover of songs for his first CD. Then he should release another CD with new material.
"Feeling Good" and "Home" are my absolute favorite MB songs! For anyone who hasn't listened to "Feeling Good," you should give it a try...you'll love it!
Buble sang "A Song For You" on his first CD, and I have to say...it's rather bland compared to Elliott's rendition. :hello:

Well I used to LOVE Buble's version of ASFY. It was the only other one I found acceptable, aside from Hathaways. Now, I don't enjoy it nearly as much as Elliott's!
And yes, feeling good is one of my favs. I was actually hoping he sang that instead of Home until I actually heard him sing it. I think Elliott would have to actually try to mess up a song to sound bad though. :bunny: :bunny:

seriously? where'd he say that? it's unfortunate i missed that great praise from MB himself!
LOTR Fan 71281 - June 3, 2006 02:22 PM (GMT)
I enjoy Buble. He sings the standards well. I have to say that he is better live. I think Elliott can atually sing the JAzz standards as well if not better. I think it depends on personal preference. I prefer Harry Connick over Buble, but Buble is good nonetheless.

I like Harry Connick Jr as well!

i don't think he's the great vocalist that e is that's for sure, but i've seen interviews with him and his manner is SO adorable...he's SOOO cute.
and i think it takes a really humble man to admit an ameture sang his song better

SoulMusicRocks - June 4, 2006 11:08 AM (GMT)
I thought Elliott's version of "Home" was superior to Michael's....
rainshine - June 4, 2006 11:46 AM (GMT)
I don't know too much of his stuff aside from the theme song from "Down With Love"... but I do love that song!! (Love the movie, too :D) He's definitely got the voice for jazz. He sounds like he's from another era.
P.S. I watched "Totally Blonde" on TV once, 'cause I tuned in thinking it would be "Legally Blonde." Haha, whoops!
SheilaHI - June 4, 2006 10:31 PM (GMT)
In my house a lot of the Rat Pack's music was played, Sinatra, Martin, Davis Jr., among others. Harry Connick Jr. was the first to really get people buzzing about this genre again. Then Michael Buble, but kinda in the shadows was always Bobby Caldwell, who is really awesome too. All of these artists are great and each voice is different and gives some of the same songs their spin and I love em' all. There is something really timeless about these kind of songs, a real artist can make them sound new. That's where Elliott comes into the picture, and there is plenty of room for him too. He's got his own style and sound, except he can expand his reach and cross into other genres fusing his soulful vibe. I can't wait to see what he's gonna come up with.
"Feeling Good" favorite by Buble
"A Wink and a Smile" favorite by Connick Jr.
"What You Won't Do For Love" by Caldwell
yamingirl - June 5, 2006 12:59 AM (GMT)
Agreed! I'd love some standards/Hathaway/Stevie songs on his first CD. Do it just like Buble did..... a couple of original songs and the rest covers of great songs we already love.

I'M A HUGE MICHAEL BUBLE FAN!! :cheerleader:
My friend (who's also a Buble fan) and I watched 'Totally Blonde' and we were only around 7 inside the movie house. lol! In fairness, this guy could act! :P
I wasn't able to watch his first concert here in Manila, Philippines, but I made sure that I saw his succeeding shows. I watched his 2nd concert TWICE and believe it or not, I was lucky enough to see him face and face and held his arm. I was AWESTRUCK; I didn't know what to do or say in front of him. Luckily, on the second time he was near me, I had a camera and took a shot of him.
January 2004:

On the third time he was here October last year, I was screaming my lungs out when he ran up the coliseum to meet up his fans.
Well, I have to agree with you, ladies. Elliott did a better version of "Home" and "A Song For You". :)
My favorite Buble songs are"Moondance", "Save the Last Dance", "You Don't Know Me" & "I've Got You Under My Skin". I have a DVD of this David Foster benefit concert where he first introduced Michael as his new discovery; he sang the 'Spiderman' theme & "I've Got You Under My Skin"... he was awesome! :woohoo:

I'm a huge Michael Buble fan! About a year ago, I was introduced to Buble by a good friend of mine, who happens to be Canadian, and is a die-hard Buble fan. Anyway, we listened to his Buble CD one weekend on a roadtrip and I got hooked! I bought it as soon as we got home and now it's in constant rotation through my songs. I find him to be very soothing and pleasant...much like Elliott. Would love to see him live one of these days, but when he was in my area, tickets were sold out almost immediately.

I went to school with Michael Buble since Kindergarten (we are the same age) and although we were never friends, I can honestly say that he is a really good guy.
