Title: I Have A Question For Parents...

Ok, I know this is wayyy off topic but.....

At what point do you put the potty up and have your child start using the real toilet? I have a 3 1/2 year old son, that is potty trained and of course uses the big toilet when we are at the store and such, so I was just wondering when I should put the potty up and have him start using the toilet.

I am open to suggestions!

It seems like you have a good handle on things. Now would be a good time to put the potty away. If you have a stepper where he can get to the toilet on his own, then he should do fine. Also they have those seats that you can fit onto the toilet so it won't be too big for their tiny behinds. If he can go in the big potty when you are out then he can go when he is at home.

I hope this helps. I have three boys of my own. So I know how difficult this time can be. Good Luck.

Thanks, that was kind of what I was thinking but I know my husband will say to wait. Of course, when we started last July with the training, my husband said he wasn't ready, and we had just started and the first week after we started, my son (still in diapers at bedtime) was getting up in the middle of the night yelling "peepee potty, mama, peepee potty" In the middle of the night!!! From that point on, my husband knew he was ready!

With the exception of the occasional accidents, he has been completely potty trained (wearing big boy underpants not pull-ups) since about the end of September or October. My mom had a big part in this (she had previously potty trained us 3 girls and then 2 granddaughters--never a boy). I had always been told that boys were harder to train and my mom said that he was the quickest taught that she had ever seen! So I am pleased.

Thank you for your input! I really appreciate it and I am glad to have a "forum" to talk about every thing from Elliott Yamin--to what ever else is important or maybe not so important!

Honestly I think he will let you know when he is ready. My son just said he wanted to use the big one and that is the day I put the potty up. Don't rush him if he is not comfortable yet with the toilet or try putting the potty up one day and see what happens. :)

Thanks for that point of view too! I am not trying to make my only baby grow up before its time. But I don't want to hold him back either, ya know. May be I will try putting it up for a day just to see how he does. I think the only problem may be with the sitting part, the standing, he has down pat, I guess. He is the first boy in my family so this is a whole new ball game. (I have 2 sisters and they each have 2 girls with my older sister finally having a boy too!!!)

So I really appreciate all this feed back!

Thanks!!!
