Title: A Poll That Really Counts!
Description: How to get Elliott noticed by the mainst

Yaminiette - June 3, 2006 06:10 PM (GMT)
Voting for elliott in polls that are run by tabloids and AOL is a harmless way to show your support for the soulful AI underdog. Want to get him really noticed?

Marketing firms follow top search engines such as google and yahoo to find trends in the publics intrests. Follow this link to see a comparison of the volume of searches for Elliott and Taylor.

While elliott may be ahead in Moosak and Intouch poles, here is a real life pole where we as elliott fans are failing miserably! A closer analysis of the month of April shows how far lagging we are in this poll that REALLY COUNTS!

What can we do? Go to google. Search for "Elliott Yamin". SPELL IT CORRECTLY! Search like you're voting, because you are! Show the marketing exec's who the real American Idol is!

this is a great, great idea. Do it--do it--do it. I couldn't agree more. yahoo searches and google searches are critical.

i just compared Elliott Yamin to other idols, not THE idol, and he's not doing well at all. there are FAR more searches for Chris Daughtry and Katharine Mcphee.

Search every day.

Suzanne - June 3, 2006 06:21 PM (GMT)
I just compared Elliott to many people--existing musicians, even old idols. Outside Richmond VA Elliott does terribly compared to everyone else--More people search for Kevin Covais and Jasmine Trias in NYC than Elliott!

If you live outside Richmond VA, search, search, search on Google and Yahoo for Elliott Yamin.

E-lectricgirl - June 3, 2006 06:22 PM (GMT)
So do we search on google or the google trends website?

Super idea! I have actually searched for E before on google along with other idols and noticed the difference in number of results found  We gotta keep our Elliott above the rest so people will take notice! I vow to search every day for ELLIOTT YAMIN (and spell his name correctly as you pointed out ;) ) on google and yahoo. Let's keep him at the top! :groupwave:

Yaminiette - June 3, 2006 06:29 PM (GMT)
Hey! I have the internet on my phone, so I'm gonna constantly search for elliott while im on the go too! Geez we are such a dedicated group!

AgentScully - June 3, 2006 06:31 PM (GMT)
Great idea. I guess googling him somehow escaped me but it makes alot of sense now. Will google him every chance I get. Thanks for the idea! :)

erulesyo - June 3, 2006 06:32 PM (GMT)
Can't we just buy his cd when it comes out? I don't think Elliott would want us to waste all of our time on google.

Yaminiette - June 3, 2006 06:36 PM (GMT)
Well, so many of us are already waisting our time on the other polls, we mind as well focus our energy on this :D

He doesn't have a record deal yet, so it is our duity as his fan base to make the biggest hooplah about him as possible so he can get the fattest deal possible! :woohoo:

I go to google at least once a day. so I will throw in a few searches a day for E. I normally don't the other polls because I don't see the point but this one seems great.

he doesn't? I thought he said he was getting into the studio as soon as the tour is over?

mcdull - June 3, 2006 06:38 PM (GMT)
Yaminiette, thanks for starting this thread. :goodpost:

Someone on TWOP did weekly comparison charts during the season for all the idols, and although E led in many AI-related forums, he was always near the bottom of the pack when it came to internet searches.

We need to start moving E up to show researchers there's loads of ppl interested in him.

Yaminiette - June 3, 2006 06:40 PM (GMT)
You don't need a record deal to make the songs, just to sell the records. They're not allowed to sign a deal until september

I think if more people actually knew how to spell Elliott (w/ 2 't's) his score would be higher.

I have no idea how to combine the two (Elliot, Elliott) searches to get a more accurate count.

It's not a waste of time. Whatever label he ends up with will decide how much money to put into producing and advertising his CD based on interest in him.

I compared based solely on last names. (yamin vs. hicks; yamin vs. daughtry; etc.) He's still doing terribly.

Everytime you log on, do a fast google search. it will take 15 seconds.

Just read on the moosak board that we should search through 50.lycos.com. Said that helped Clay Akien a great deal.

I think it's all about the location. My search attempts will probably be insignificant seeing that my country is not even listed in those popular regions. I will still make efforts for online polls etc, though.

Okay. I've been traveling a lot with my laptop in tow and i vow to power search for him in every single city I visit. Today Istanbul, next week Rome, week after Hong Kong. Let's make it happen!

You guys are right. We do need to search more often.

I am just wondering if maybe his numbers are down because a lot of us (I know myself especially) don't bother to SEARCH for stuff on him...I just come HERE. I don't necessarily feel the need to google him to find stuff out because I know coming here, or to Yaminions or Yamin Machine, etc, that I will find out what is happening and what the latest E news is.

Just a thought on why numbers might not be where we want them to be....

I think most people just head to the idol boards or Elliott's fansites (like this one) to talk about him or find out updates.

I have some thoughts as to why some of the others are leading the search results but they are just IMO.
Taylor- Winner of AI/search for his previous CDs
Kat- Search for her controversial interviews lol (don't flame me)/her acting(?)career/pics
Chris- his old band/CDs/Fuel offer,etc.
Ace- probably mostly fangirls

As we can see, compared to the others, Elliott doesn't really have a lot of gossip/buzz surrounding his past. He's the guy who can sing and has a touching lifestory. Thus for all updates, sites like yaminions/idf/etrain are sufficient because latest updates are there. And these sites are already known through the grapevine/previous searches which is probably why his name is not searched as often as the others. Hope my post makes sense to someone (I'm really sleepy).

Again,just my 2 cents.

LOL, maybe it's because we're used to living in a state that has a name with double letters and silent letters? :)

I can speculate that he will either use the money he will recieve from the AI5 tour or he will have signed a contract before he begins recording and the company will pay for his studio time.

OK, this is really weird. Last week, I googled Elliott and came upon a Wikipedia entry for him. I don't know who wrote it, but it was quite detailed, as if it was written by a fan. Just now, I googled his name again, went into the Wikipedia entry, and it's MARKED FOR DELETION. I don't understand how Wikipedia works, but the write-up on him is gone, just all this "deletion" stuff.

The odd thing is that I looked up Kevin Covais and Bucky Covington, and both of them have Wikipedia entries because of their appearance on Idol, and they are NOT marked for deletion.

Can anyone figure this out? Why Elliott only? I don't get it.

I don't see anything about it being marked for deletion on my end.

EDIT: question:: if i just hit the search button over and over does that count or no?

koko4elliott - June 4, 2006 01:58 AM (GMT)
OK, that's really weird. I SWEAR, 1/2 hr ago, that page was not there. It had his name up top, but no picture, no info other than a 1 sentence blurb with his birth date, and it was "marked for deletion". I got the same thing when searching Lycos and Google. Now I see it's back. Very, very strange. There were entries under the deletion topic dated today, so maybe they decided to put it back? I don't know.

Anyway, sorry for the alarm. I see it's back now.
