Title: Any Nba Fans In The House?

thecutehippie - June 4, 2006 12:48 AM (GMT)
Just watching game six tonight (Dallas vs. Phoenix) and was wondering if there were any other basketball fans in here?

I'm a die-hard Mavs fan...you can't go wrong with a seven foot tall German on your side (as long as we can stop Steve Nash).

What teams do you guys like, or who do you pick to win it all this year?

LOTR Fan 71281 - June 4, 2006 01:27 AM (GMT)
I'm a huge B-Ball fan. I'm rooting for the Mavs aswell. Their taking it all the way. :rocker:

Mimpy - June 4, 2006 02:27 AM (GMT)
I used to watch basketball when the Sixers were actually good. :P

I love basketball - I used to play in highschool and then a little in college. I was always into the NBA (and some college ball as well), but lately I'm finding that the NBA is full of morons, and it sucks.

I have been a HUGE phoenix suns fan since the '92-93 season when they had, IMO, the best team, minus their crappy a$$ center. Needless to say, I'm a little disappointed the Suns are done.

ElliottAshah - June 4, 2006 09:54 PM (GMT)
i'm a huge basketball fan. i used to play when i was a teenager and was actually pretty serious about it until my middle school gym teacher told me right before i finished 8th grade that there was no way i'd ever make the high school team. thanks a lot.

anyway, i'm a Spurs fan. they lost. then i wanted to see the Suns win. and they lost.

it's like i told a friend of mine last night ... first, Bucky got voted off. then the Orioles started to suck. then Elliott got voted off. then the Spurs lost. and then the Suns lost.

not doing too well with my loyalties, to say the least. :P

Cheetah521 - June 4, 2006 10:07 PM (GMT)
SPURS fan all the way!!!! Heat/Mavs Finals should be a great series...guess i'm gonna have to root for Heat though since those darn Mavs are the ones who kicked my Spurs out!! :P (besides, how can you not appreciate Shaq! :D )

san_che - June 5, 2006 04:19 AM (GMT)
Yay! Nice to see some other Spurs fans!

After my disappointment with Idol, I turned to the playoffs to comfort me. Unfortunately, I tuned in just in time to see the Mavs eliminate my beloved Spurs.

At this point, I really want to see the Heat win the title. I want Shaq to get another ring and Gary Payton to finally get his first.

I cannot agree on you with that. I dispise Shaq and Gary Payton does not deserve a ring. He's been trying to buy that ring for the longest time. :D

i pretty much don't care for shaq either...dirk nowitzki's my fave player...it's gonna be a really good series...i'm excited!

No love for Shaq? :o

Say it ain't so!

By the way, are you by any chance a Lord of the Rings fan? Because that is my all-time favorite movie (or 3 movies, lol).

HAHAHA! How did you guess. Yes...I'm a huge fan. It's almost my favorite movie, Braveheart takes it. Lord of the Rings is close second.

haha! Braveheart and Lord of the Rings, are two of my favorite movies as well!! Looks like we have alot in common on these boards.

I also am a big basketball fan. I played highschool ball, and played against Brad Daughetry. For those of you that don't remember him, he played college ball for North Carolina, and went on to become NBA rookie of the year for the Cleavland Cavaliers, somewhere in the mid to late 80's.

ElliottAshah - June 5, 2006 04:08 PM (GMT)
yeah ... i got no love for Shaq either. or Pat Riley. i really have nothing against the Mavs (besides them beating the Spurs and the Suns), and Dirk is kinda cute, so i hope to see them win. :)

MTforE - June 5, 2006 07:24 PM (GMT)
uh oh I am a HUGE Shaq fan! :irule: jk. heehee
I'm really a lifelong Lakers fan (orig. from SoCal) but I have absolutely loathed Kobe from day one. So until he is gone I am in "semi-retirement" and will support Shaq anywhere that he plays. I live with a Pistons fan - its been a fun week. :poke:

:rotfl: My best friend is a Pistons fan as well! She was hearbroken Friday night.

DawnlikesElliott - June 6, 2006 01:29 AM (GMT)
I'm a very complicated basketball fan. I'm from the Detroit area but I was hoping for a Detroit/Phoenix final....cause I LOVE Steve Nash! Since that didn't work out for me I'm hoping Dallas wins...cause I also have a soft spot for Dirk. Shaq does not deserve to win...he is not talented...he is just big and knocks everyone else over.

ElliottAshah - June 6, 2006 02:07 AM (GMT)
Dawn - i totally agree about the love for Steve Nash/soft spot for Dirk thing. and i also agree with your assessment of Shaq - it's like "hi, i'm big, i'm gonna knock you over." he doesn't run, and can't shoot more than 5 feet from the basket. yeah, don't like the guy.

DawnlikesElliott - June 6, 2006 09:49 PM (GMT)
Also, Shaq couldn't make a free throw to save his life.

Also, Shaq couldn't make a free throw to save his life.

Everyone knows that. The Heat is my hometown team and we always GROAN whenever Shaq has to do freethrows because it's just a tossup. And the worst part is that he always seems to get opportunties for them. (It's a conspiracy I think).

But like Shaq or not, when he's on, he's ON and a big help.

But I'm really a bandwagon fan. But I really like Wade (my little brother calls him the "Magician" because he just makes things happen on the court...which I agree with). Also J.Willams is getting himself noticed with me...the guy is really fast!

Anyways, it's great FINALLY seeing the Heat actually make the championships! Miami is really excited about this, and I hope we win!

justmeintx - June 7, 2006 11:32 PM (GMT)
GO MAVS!!!!! :woohoo:

mvemulap - June 8, 2006 12:24 AM (GMT)
Huge Kings fan Baaaaaaaawhhhhhhhhhhhhhahaaaaaaaaaaaa :bawl:

FlareHazard - June 8, 2006 01:41 AM (GMT)

I'm with you. Mavs are going to take it this year.

elliottness - June 8, 2006 11:59 PM (GMT)
I'm a huge basketball fan, my fave is the Pistons. My favorite player is Chauncey Billups. I was really disappointed that they lost the series against the Heat. I'll be rooting for the Mavs tonight, not because I'm a sore loser but because I too do not like Shaq. My husband is a Lakers fanatic, so he'll be rooting for the Mavs also.

QTgymnast412 - June 9, 2006 12:23 AM (GMT)
I love basketball, it's my favorite sport to play and watch. I kinda have to support the Wizards since I'm from D.C, but I like the Lakers and the Sixers mainly because of Iverson even if they aren't that good anymore.

QTgymnast412 - June 9, 2006 12:23 AM (GMT)
I'm rooting for the Mavericks right now though.

san_che - June 9, 2006 12:28 AM (GMT)
Neither the Mavs nor the Heat is my favorite but I will be cheering for Miami since I really like Shaq and Dwayne Wade and J. Williams. Oh and Alonzo Mourning (how did I forget Zoe?)

Besides, if my Spurs can't do it, then a team from the East (where I'm from) might as well take it.

ElliottAshah - June 9, 2006 02:27 AM (GMT)
i'm watching! go Mavs!!! when Dirk hit that shot at the buzzer, i was like, woo!

Damn Mavs...smoke this team. What are they waiting for. Dirk needs to take over.

that was like, the uber awesome!

and Shaq's free throw shooting tonight ... good job, dude. way to throw some bricks.

my dad and i are predicting Mavs in 6 ... what are your predictions?

Keith Van Horn ... i quite honestly freak out when i see him on TV. i had a friend who died when i was in high school who had a striking resemblence to him. in fact, one of the first things i said to him when i met him was "You look a lot like Keith Van Horn!", and he was like, yeah ... i've heard that. so i look at the TV, see Van Horn ... yeah, it's a little strange and sad at the same time.

LOTR Fan 71281 - June 9, 2006 03:54 AM (GMT)
OH YEAH! MAVS RULE!!!!! :cheerleader: I hate Miami. I'm a Bulls fan and after what Posey did to Hinrich, I hate that team. Dirk sucked but Terry took it home. :woohoo:

ElliottAshah - June 9, 2006 04:03 AM (GMT)
woot! YAY MAVS!

(...still wish it was the Suns or the Spurs, but i'll deal) :)

besides, Dirk is kind of cute.

*wanders over to the other hot men thread to post a pic of him*

thecutehippie - June 9, 2006 04:07 AM (GMT)
Woot Game 1 done! I think Dallas will take it in five...but I'm never right at guessing these things, lol.

And yes ElliottAshah, the seven foot tall german is indeed smokin!

IBelieveToMySoul - June 9, 2006 06:01 AM (GMT)
I'm kinda a fan. I haven't watched much this year cause I'm more interested in college and semi-pro basketball (CBA, and now the D-League since my team switched). My favorite NBA team is the Wolves though.

I'm picking the Heat to win in 6 games. I want them to win too cause I love Wade.

IBelieveToMySoul - June 9, 2006 06:01 AM (GMT)
I see I'm surrounded by Mavs fans or people that want the Heat to lose. Lol

cat09 - June 9, 2006 11:13 AM (GMT)
I'm a SIXERS fan, have been since the days of Dr. J ( Julius Irving), loved watching Charles Barkley play--though his off time antics left me a little......and I absolutely LOVE Iverson that guy is so talented and so full of energy. Hopefully next year will be better :cheerleader: :cheerleader: :cheerleader:

:hello: Don't worry, I want the Heat to win too.

Heat in 5. Just calling it now.

It was a close game (until the end with all those ridiculous 3 pointers). I think both teams have to adjust to each other. Both defenses aren't that good but I think Heat's offense is better, so they'll come out on top.
