I only became interested in American Idol this year because of Elliott :wub: (he got me hooked with the Shoop Shoop song), but reading your article makes me want to go check out some of those stellar performances by others from the previous years that I missed.

I agree with alot of his choices but my personal favorite is 'I believe to my soul'. That song was sung with so much passion and seemed so ironic, after all is said and done. Plus I love the ending, makes me realized why the man is such a funky white boy. His love for soul responds to mine and that performance just echos what I want to feel when I listen to music.

That was a grat article, Jlynn - I enjoyed it and agreed with a lot of your choices.
As another poster said , it was an inspiration to go back and have another listen to some of your top selections .
I just posted a request on the Other Contestants forum requesting some links where I could hear some of these performances from previous years.
I am glad that you mentioned Ejay Day - I will never forget him - his voice was incredible and I was shocked that he was voted off so quickly. I remember reading some of the cruel comments people wrote about his appearance , saying that was why the did not like him - they never mentioned his amazing voice , they had some gripe with something about his appearance - that makes me kind of sad that people are like that .

that mediafiends writer certainly is an elliott fan... even in the season 5 lists elliott dominates... great to have someone there on our side. elliott is definitely great and consistent.

Great article! It was nice to take a walk through memory lane of the past seasons.... although I've NEVER been as interested in any of the former contestants as I've been in Elliott. While there have been periodic magical moments in previous seasons (Fantasia's Summertime, Clay's Bridge over Troubled Water, and many of the others that you listed, it seems to me that Elliott has been consistent in his ability to elicit "Wow's" every week! At least IMO. Today as I was listening to all of Elliott's songs AGAIN for the millionth time and still having a hard time picking my favorite or even not-so-favorite, I got to wondering if the fans of other contestants have the same difficulties..... Can they truly say that EVERY performance was outstanding? I simply cannot wait for his solo CD to come out.... That voice is just so amazing!

chercat - i definetly agree about EJay Day. if anything, he was the one who really kept me hooked on Season 1 - i had sort of half-watched up until then, when he came out with "I'll Be", and i think my exact words were, holy shit, why didn't this guy make the cut initially???!!!
although i would have placed Bo's "In a Dream" higher on the list, i definetly agreed with the choices on here.
