Title: Can't Do Side Scrolling...
Description: Anyone else with this problem?

ImSoBlue - June 5, 2006 11:40 PM (GMT)
On the boards where the posts are very wide (because the post has large photos or a very long text string), e.g., like this one:
http://z4.invisionfree.com/Etrain/index.ph...opic=112&st=660

I'm unable to scroll Left-Right, and having difficulty reading the post.

Anyone else with this problem? :huh:

EDIT: I figured out that when I use Firefox, there is no horizontal scroll bar, but when I use MSIE, I do get the scroll bar for the wide posts.

I noticed that on the same thread. I can scroll OK but it's still a pain in the butt. I'm not so savy about such things so I'm not sure what causes it. Maybe it comes from quoting a post with a large font. Any other ideas?

The board seems to have changed. Everything is wide now. I don't like it. Hellp mods fix this. :angry:

I also have the same problem sometimes, esp. when there are large images posted. You can just use the arrows on your keyboard to scroll from left to right and vice versa.

Yes, everything changed Sunday, I think. Colors are now navy blue and white and screen is narrow. I Have to scroll sideways to read every line. It's very time consuming and takes away from the enjoyment of reading the posts. Don't think I'll be sticking around much longer. I generally like to just read the posts while eating, but now I have to use my right hand to keep scrolling to read every sentence. Just not worth it.

When a horizontal scroll bar is not visible when the content is clipped, it might be a browser issue. This can possibly be fixed by adding the following to the CSS for the file that outputs the body:

{
overflow-y: scroll;
}

When a horizontal scroll bar appears on EVERY page (not just on pages where a large image has been posted), this may be due to your screen resolution setting. Just select 1028x768 or higher.

I figured out that I don't get the horizontal scroll bar when I use Mozilla Firefox. It works fine with MSIE. So this is something that the mods would have to fix, right?

The overflow thingy will likely fix it, but it's good to know IE works well with the board, cause it's much faster/easier/safer to use it than mod the script! Hehe.

I have the same problem and am using Firefox too.

The only way I've found to fix it is to change the page style from Basic to "No Style" (which I HATE but it lets you scroll for some reason).
