Title: A new theory about Elliott's elimination
Outofmymind - May 19, 2006 02:34 PM (GMT)
Elliott was tossed out of AI to keep the underdog status? To create more buzz? Maybe the producers decided that this way Elliott will get more recognition than through the fabriccation process of AI?
Could it be that they loved Elliott so much that would rather offer him their network of contacts rather a contract full of restrictions?
Would they love him so much that they had to let him free??? What do you think about that?

I'd love to buy into this, but it doesn't explain why, out of the Top 5, only Elliott was not approached by Clive Davis for a record deal... :(
SFCDADDY - May 19, 2006 02:38 PM (GMT)
I'd have to agree with Katey on that...you would think they'd swoop him up with offers for THAT VOICE...doesn't add up... :(
elliottcrazy - May 19, 2006 02:38 PM (GMT)
I think it's wishful thinking.....
I wish there wasn't a stupid tour...it's really slows the momentum for the kids once they are booted off. Most people, except for the rabid fan bases, have forgotten about AI come the end of August. I think Ell will get signed by someone very famous & it will shock everyone. He has such an amazing career ahead of him.
CathleenSusan - May 19, 2006 02:38 PM (GMT)
Oh, I was so sure that I heard Clive Davis say "When we work together" to Elliott, and Elliott told him a little later "I'm looking forward to working with you..." I am totally paraphrasing and I now think I totally misheard what was said! Wishful thinking on my part maybe?

I was just thinking that same thing. We have to wait for at least a year before a record Elliott cuts with be released, and a year is optimistic at best

I thought I heard that too. Is that other thing about not signing him a fact? Let's hope it is a rumor. Maybe E didn't want to sign with him, is that a possibility?

Yeah, I heard that too! Something about E looking forward to working with him on further projects or something...
Oh well, he's too good for AI anyway...they probably don't deserve him.
movin2thabeet - May 19, 2006 02:56 PM (GMT)
When E was meeting with Clive, E closed it with something like "I look forward to working with you on future projects". Clive seemed to brush him off with "Kill them with your performance". It was Katherine who he said he was looking forward to working with. In all accounts so far, Clive has expressed interest in working with 4 or 5 of the top 10 without including E. This might seem like bad news, but just remember we don't want someone tieing E's hands as AI has done. We want a record deal for E that brings out his unique gifts, not mold him into something he isn't.
erules - May 19, 2006 03:01 PM (GMT)
I think it's a possible theory.
Recent interviews and everything show clearly that Elliott himself wanted to get out of AI and do his own music.
And I think for him Elliott, it's better to keep this underdog title along with him.
For that reason, his goodbye show was so effective to make a strong impression on everyone that he is so different from other contestants and it makes us eager to watch his progress from now on.
I think it is ultimately the best strategy for him.

I agree with this statement! :)

I've been thinking about this... Why would Clive Davis not sign Elliott, they may be fools but they can't be that stupid... If Hollywood works the same as the government, then I'd be suspicious that someone had called in a favor to get Clive not to sign Elliott, someone who wants Elliott for him/her self...
Just a thought...
lilefan - May 19, 2006 03:13 PM (GMT)
I think I remember Matt Rodgers interviewing Clive on AIExtra this week, and he indeed only mentioned Paris, Chris, Taylor, and Kat. IF I remember correctly.
And BTW, Nigel said NOT WORD ONE about Elliott either. And the show was supposed to be about this week's show!!! Hell-o? Elliott WAS top three, or has he forgotten? He discussed Kat's "amazing moment" w SOTR  and talked about Taylor, but again, not ONE word about Elliott.
AI SUCKS IT.
Is it just me, or does Nigel and his lazy eye look like an aging blond mudskipper?
musiclover2 - May 19, 2006 03:15 PM (GMT)
I have no doubt E will get his record contract and frankly I personally feel it will be a better fit for him if he is not with Clive Davis. It would not surprise me at all if he is able to announce a record deal in August/September and then get into the studio not long after that.
Also even though I don't think I will see the AI tour myself, I think it will be really good for E to do the tour. Not only does he get to spend time with his AI friends which he will enjoy, he also will physically see his huge fan support in city-to-city which I trust will be awesome - it won't hurt for the powers to be to see the E love that he will get from those audiences either. People noticed when Clay had the huge fan support on tour AI2.
Also singing in these huge arenas will provide him with additional performing experience that E will likely soak up like a sponge. Both these things will build his confidence further that he can use down the road as he pursues the wonderful career I know he will have.

the truth is, he was eliminated because he had the lowest number of votes. there really is no theory to it. we just have to face that other contestants had more fans than e did & does.

oh I don't think it has to do with how many fans E has, but rather, how many times his fans were willing to vote. I think a lot of E's fans are mature adults that might throw in a vote here or there, but would never spend 2 full hours on the phone voting. That is for the die-hard fans like the majority of us, and for young teen girls.

Do you REALY believe that Chris fans were equally divided between Elliott Kat and Taylor?
onetwothree - May 19, 2006 04:29 PM (GMT)
The show practically screwed him over so Nigel can save her precious Kat. Anyway, I just can't wait for the day when Elliott becomes really really big and successful with Clive banging his head on the wall realizing what a big mistake he did.
tufntender - May 19, 2006 04:34 PM (GMT)
I think E can thank the stars that he is not locked into a contract with AI. I still hate what they did to Bo. His CD sounds so unoriginal, and they were not able to keep Bo's vibe with the songs they made him sing.
With E and Chris hopefully maintaining creative control, they will do much better than the winners...me thinks :rotfl: [B]
VeronicaJoD - May 19, 2006 07:14 PM (GMT)
For me the highlight of each week was getting to see him and hear him sing.To witness his confidence build and watch him start to believe in his artistry.I am being honest... I loved having him in my livingroom on my HD TV every week. Yes, for me It's almost like a death and I have to go through the grieving process.
I think that E is better off not winning AI. So he can mold himself...not them.
He has no idea just how good he is and IMO this man has a true artists soul. He has the one thing that will make him soar above the rest....passion. You can feel it when he sings, you can see it in his eyes. He has even made a reference to it..."I've always know what I was meant to do...I just did'nt know how to get there."
I'm also an artist (not singing...the visual kind...painting,drawing) and when I was in college one of my professors helped keep me vocused during a point when I wanted to quit. He made me realize just how blessed I had been to be born with a natural gift and the passion behind it....That artists like me were born this way...Yes, I could improve my craft...find my style...but I would always distance myself from the rest of the pack . He said, "a true artist lives to paint, not paint to live. A true artist would do what the love whether they were paid or not. They (We)truley can't help themselves for they are driven to do it...it is their PASSION!
A committed, passionate self-belief leads to action...and that leads to fulfilling your dreams and vision!!!
But I am grateful to us...his E-Train and AI for giving him the opportunity to believe in himself.

No. He served his purpose, just like Chris. Here's my new theory. The mistake everyone made was that we didn't recognize the "red herring" until it was too late. Chris was never the TCO. Katherine always was. They hid this fact because she probably always was getting decently high votes, they pimped her at the right moments to give her enough of a boost, and then pushed Chris to the high heavens knowing fully well that his vote totals had been slipping for weeks. That set up a HUGGEEEE upset in the minds of the voting public. Chris was meant for the shock boot, nothing more, a means of making the show a little "hipper" just with his presence.
Taylor was supposed to be cannon fodder but the SP started before anyone else's fan base had a chance to mobilize so their numbers were impossible for TPTB to do anything about. They would have taken El over Tay, I believe, but Tay was just too much and couldn't be stopped.
Just be clear, they never wanted El to win. He was always set up as the "good guy" who does very well for himself and has a great backstory that would be shown after it didn't count. He got the 3rd place boot which has got to be one of the saddest boots EVER. I don't think there was a dry eye in the country. That's why they didn't play the footage of the coming home visits until the results show. El would have won if they shown that video (if it was the same edit) the night before. I think to many people, he's already won anyway...that video and his exit interviews prove it.
Well...now its' down to TCO (katherine) and Hicks. Watch for some major Katherine pimpage to occur and subtle Hicks de-pimpage. They will saddle Tay with "A Moment LIke This" and make him Justin Guarini again. They will give Kat some easy ass song to sing, a revealing dress and well --> WINNER.

I don't know what is going on here in America.
Not bringing politics into this, but the presidential election, you can't explain that.
It would been to much like right for America to get it right. It would of been to good to be true.

I think Clive Davis is too old and senile anymore. Plus, the past 2 AI winners have been R&B. I would rather see Elliott on a label with some soul and people that appreciate that type of music. That way they would back him 100%

I think one of the best things we can do is to go to the tour and scream our brains out for Elliott. Let them see the real Idol.
This happened to Clay during his tour and it gave birth to Invisible and his albumn skyrocketing.
We need to make ourselves known for Elliott and let them see his fan base.

oomm, That theory had occured to me...
And I have heard others say that AI could not make E big with the type of music that he sings...hmmm--not sure about that...
Also, perhaps E marches to the beat of his own drum and he was sick of AI...
Not sure...all I can know is that things happen for a reason...and E is gonna be big...maybe even bigger now with out AI!!!!

You guys...he is going to get signed by somebody. We DON'T want a major label. Major labels bungle up niche artists like Elliott big time. Look at Bo. That's a classic example of a man with a vision that didn't match that of RCA's and look what happened.
Our goal for El is a minor label with lots of vision (Quincy Jones has vision, Kanye has vision, Eminem has vision, heck even P.Diddy has vision to some extent).
El is the holy grail: The white man with the black voice. Why do you think Christina is so big? She's a tiny white girl that can sing all the major black recording artist songs. The holy grail people. El will make it. He's nice so they will want him to make it as well. It's a perfect combo

Just curious, Dulce. I respect your opinion. What are your thoughts on why Clive doesn't think Elliott is marketable? I'm completely and totally miffed on this. I can't see his angle here. To me, Elliott would be a dream to market. Essentially, he's a blank slate, totally moldable and able to cross over most genres. Couple that with being a white man with a black man's voice, it's a match made in heaven.
