Title: Browser Technical Issues/solutions
Description: Repairing or replacing your browser

mcornelio - June 8, 2006 04:24 PM (GMT)
We have had several reports that a few people are having difficulties in connecting and viewing the ETrain Site (this site). Here are some suggestions that may help.

1) Turn off your popup-blocker for this site http://z4.invisionfree.com/Etrain. If you have Google Toolbar or Yahoo Toolbar or MSN Toolbar be sure to turn popup-blocking for each toolbar.

2) Clear your browser cache -- Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) is infamous for glitching when the cache is full. To clear the cache for MSIE: menu select Tools|Internet Options... then click "Delete Files."

3) Update your browser -- Be sure you have the latest version of your browser software. For MSIE: menu select: Tools|Windows Update to check for the latest updates.

4) Try a different browser -- If all else fails with MSIE, it may indicate a damaged installation, configuration, or software object. Download the Firefox browser from http://www.mozilla.com/ or the Opera Browser from http://www.opera.com/. Several users have reported that their "Freezing" problem has been resolved with the Firefox browser.

If you've tried the above and you still have a problem, PM me (mcornelio) but be sure to include the following information in your PM:

Operating System: Windows|Mac|Linux
Browser Type: MSIE|Firefox|Opera|Safari
Your ISP: AOL|Comcast|AT&T|NetZero|Netscape|whatever

Please do not PM me unless you have tried an alternate browser (like Firefox).

If you've had success with these or any other solutions, please post your experiences here.

I am so happy!

I tried and tried and could not get into the chatroom. It's not like I go to the chatroom very often, but when I decide to go , I want to be able to get in.

I was told that my browser was not Java enabled. I tried installing some stuff and updating and could not get anything to work.

But, finally it was suggested that I install the Mozilla Firefall bowser. And, sure enough, bingo!

I was telling the ladies in the Secret Society that I went in the chatroom tonight and just kind of sat there all by myself. It felt so good to be in there finally.

In conclusion, the Mozilla Firefox does the trick for the Etrain!!!!!! :rocker:

Mcornelio, I am having problems getting into Etrainstation.com with IE. I have to use Mozilla Foxfire. I know that your instructions said not to pm you unless another browser does not work. I really would rather use IE because Foxfire limits my use of the site.

Would you be willing to help me anyway? I have used IE since joining E-Train but recently, I can't get into the site using it. Any other suggestions?

I have Windows, MSIE, MSN, Dialup.

Thanks in advance, no matter what the decision will be.

Hello georgiafan1,

I too have problems with my IE and etrainstation.com. This happens on my Windows 2000 system with 256MB or RAM. I use MSIE6. The problem seems to stem from the loading of the ads put up by invisionfree on our message board. There may be several ways thay to can try to fix this problem:

1) Clear out your cache (Temporary Internet Files)
2) Reinstall your "Flash" plug-in for MSIE
3) Reinstall Java for your machine

That's about all I can suggest for now.

Let me know if that works.

/s/. Mike

Thanks Mike. I'm still on Foxfire but I appreciate that you tried to help me. Maybe someday someone will figure out why E-Train does not work for some IE users. E-Train worked fine on my computer in the past but then it just stopped. This is the only site where I have this problem. Oh well...

Thanks again.

Can someone who has access to it take out (or just test it) the "overflow-x: hidden" style applied to the HTML tag in the stylesheet?

It doesn't happen often, but when someone posts a link that's too long or a picture that's too wide, the page expands and the right side is rendered inaccessible in Firefox (I don't think it happens in IE). I'm guessing it's that style that suppresses the horizontal scrollbar (not sure why this would even be set this way).

GraceStreet, I changed it. Let me know if the problem is fixed. I've been trying to figure out how to correct this in Firefox for a while. I had no idea it was an issue with the style sheet of the website.

Yay! That seemed to do the trick: a good example being the big picture here in Amandarhea's ChrisRich thread. It blows the layout out, but at least now the page can be scrolled across.

This may not be the proper place to post this question, but can someone please instruct me on how I can make this board fit my screen?
The display is so huge, I have to move the left and right arrows on the bottom of my screen just to read one post.
Thanks!!!

This does not work on all computers or on all screens but I just tried it here and it worked. While holding down control key move your scroller wheel on the mouse.

Thank you, Rooney.
But how do you undo it?

YipYap - August 11, 2007 05:04 PM (GMT)
N/M.
Thanks!
