It seems that someone broke into Clive's room and tampered with his hearing aids. The perpertrators rigged the aid so that when it detected shrill, sceeching, off key notes that it deleted them. They have suspects in mind - maybe someone who has connections with Fox production people. They will not be investigating until after this years AI winner is announced.
